To the greatest and most amazing "Terrible Two" in the world.
I was at the Birthing Center resting with my newborn daughter snuggled against me. Thank you so much for being a part of my life, my darling little one. I know most of you out in LJland don't want a baby, but I am very grateful I get to share my life with this one.

Sorry I've been so quiet, we've been super busy with holidays, the baby, and getting ready to visit the in laws. I'm really hoping to get some me-time and relaxation time while we are away.

The birthday girl, getting ready for bed post her cupcake adventures!
I use to be frustrated by the women in Synagogue who only seemed to talk about their children and weight loss. And now I find my thoughts are mostly on my baby and weight loss. HAHAHA On the bright side I've lost more than 10 lbs since the start of February and I'm nearly down to the weight I started my pregnancy at on March 9. Unfortunately, that weight according to the BMI index still made me quite overweight so I would ideally like to lose another 15 lbs from there. It also feels weird since I didn't feel as fat last year and now I feel huge. I think it is my boobs.

In baby news, I think we will soon have a tooth. This is both good because then hopefully we'll get napping again and less fussing (the first teeth are always the worst until molars come in) However, it also makes me fear for my nipples since nursing can hurt like hell with her just using her gums. :/

And now more pictures )
We've been attempting to clean and reorganize the house with mixed results. I really want to vacuum and I might try to later today. We're in the process of rearranging the living room thanks to our new changing table. (We were previously using the stroller bassinet in an end table.) It's not super exciting work, but it is something. I've made granola a few times with much success and I'm still attempting to lose baby weight and just ordinary weight. I find actually sleeping sometimes is helping with this lol

And now for baby pictures )
Yesterday we left 3.5 ozs of milk out too long and it had to be tossed. It was easy for my husband to get rid of it, saying I am making more than enough for the baby, but it is much harder for me since that represents being hooked up to a pump for like 15-20 minutes. My new pump is a lot better than the old one, but pumping is just not fun. At least the baby seems to be doing well (and she is actually napping right now!)

And what better way to welcome Spring then some pictures of her )
After seeing [livejournal.com profile] twotone's post about making calzones for Valentine's Day, I decided to give it a try and... uhhh NEVER AGAIN or at least not until I have a lot more counter space! I spent 2 hours making fillings and rolling out dough and making calzones. Of course the recipe linked to only had simple fillings, but I had decided to be more unique. I made: sauteed portabello mushrooms with ricotta and parmesan cheese, arugula pesto, asparagus, and soy sausage all combined in various ways. They were delicious.

Today was my first class of Mommy and Me yoga. I had thought this would be a low key affair much like my PreNatal Yoga DVD. I was 100% wrong. At the end of the class I was exhausted and felt like I got a great work out. Plus the baby liked it!

And for those who want to see my ever growing bundle of joy )
My husband started his new job today and so I was alone with the baby. He's gone into work a few times since she's been born, but now him not going into work will be the exception rather than the rule. I think we both miss him already.

Today was hectic and involved some of those fun moments that tell you that you are parent such as: being piddled on, trying to get boogies out of your baby's nose, and getting puked on. About the only thing she didn't do was poop on me today. I felt really bad about the puking, but she seems somewhat settled and fell soundly asleep on my chest which is one of those things that always makes me feel loved and happy. That and seeing her cute little smile always makes me smile and feel at peace.

The trip to Walt Disney World went well and I think I've now drank the Mickey punch since I want to go back. It's just such a great place to go with a baby/kid because you can take them to restaurants and not feel bad if they get fussy. Plus (and this is the major selling point in my book) it is much warmer than here and there are heated pools and hot tubs. (vs. here where there are ICE STORMS! YEAH!)

For those curious high points:
We all enjoyed the Disney Princess Lunch, me, Adina, my Mom and my Mother in law. Though Ariel was sort of wench.

Jiko, The Wave of American Flavors and the California Grill would be delicious to eat at no matter where they were located.

Adina did GREAT on the plane! She fussed a little bit when taking off for FL (only enough for the family in front of us to hear and they had a little girl so I am sure they understood) and within 5 minutes she settled down. She spent a lot of the flight sleeping on my lap. She was a little fussy when landing but less so than the first take-off. Our flight home went even better since it was around her bed time so there was very little fussing.

I got to ride Splash Mountain!

Our hotel was gorgeous and we had a non water-view waterview.

Adina liked the swimming pool!

Wishes Fireworks, even if Clamp has forever ruined the word "wishes" for me and I just keep imagining people like Fuuma and Lelouch talking about wishes.

Negatives:

After spending part of the day in Epcot, I realized how hard it was taking Adina to the parks and pumping. The Baby Care Center is super nice, but it makes it so hard to do other things and Adina just would rather sleep.

1900 Park Fare was super loud and possibly made me feel ill (though the characters there were great!)

WDW kept losing our dinner reservations (which made me feel a lot less guilty when we were late)

The pillows sucked. They were like fake down, and I lie my pillows much much firmer.

I gained back (plus some) any weight I had lost ~.~

Overall it was a lot of fun and we got to see [livejournal.com profile] ad_exia though I forgot to take a picture despite bringing my camera and dressing up Adina.

My grandmother keeps canceling and un-canceling her 90th birthday party on Sunday and I wish she would make up her mind. If it was me... I would totally have one!

Walt Disney Pictures--characters Ho! )
So for those who don't know we were hit pretty hard with the recent snowmaggedon. I'm concerned that we missed our chance to have our driveway plowed and will need to shovel it out ourselves. It is do-able despite the 22+ inches of snow, Hubby is from Colorado and I use to shovel at our old place where we had to do the driveway and the sidewalks. It's just not a happy thought especially with a baby fussing in the house. (since we are blessed to have a baby who sleeps well at night, but does not during the day lol )

In other news, yesterday Adina turned 3 months... I can't believe we've had her for 3 months, in some respects it feels like she has always been a part of our lives and in other respects it still feels hard to believe she is really here. She's also grown and changed so much in 3 months. She's now around 10 bs 9oz, making her still on the small side for a 3 month old. She is so much more alert and can use her body more. She's starting to hold up her head and truly look around. It is still amazing to me that all of us were once just like her.

Snow and Baby pictures! )

I'm still working on my WDW trip and we're now being joined by my Mom and Mother in Law (YES! Built in baby sitters!) I'm also trying to work on all my pregnancy weight gain. I gave in and bought an actual scale, now to eat better and exercise more.
Happy Belated Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] spazzygirl19 and [livejournal.com profile] twotone and anyone else I might have missed.

It's funny, growing up I always hated and dreaded Christmas but now with the internet it's just really not as big a deal. In fact, I'm even starting to like Christmas because it means huge sales I can take advantage of. Baby Gap is much more attractive at 40% off. If you're all wondering why the internet make such a big deal in terms of Christmas... well in the bad old days, there were limited channels on TV and so for Christmas all you could see were Christmas shows which if you don't celebrate Christmas aren't much fun. The radio stations use to only play Christmas music. But thanks to the internet and mp3s I can listen to whatever horrible music I want, all the time and with the internet I can watch whatever I want. It's truly lovely and helps make the day less boring. Though honestly with a baby it feels like I am constantly busy every day.

Lately, I've been indulging in Next Generation DVDs. It is great.

Adina gave her Mommy a late gift of A cupcake corder It's an awesome gift and has enabled her mother to make her dream cupcakes, chocolate with lemon curd filling and chocolate frosting. Yummy! I guess if we were having company I could try to get fancy with decorations but they're just for our enjoyment. Pictures may follow. I've been using Martha Stewart's Cupcakes, another gift I received. So far the cupcakes might be a little greasy in terms of the pan, but taste moist and delicious and the frosting is very yummy and not too buttery. I love Rose Levy Beranbaums cakes, and one of her recent ganaches inspired me, but her buttercreams seriously taste like super sweet butter. Mommy also got a scale, in an attempt to stem the tide of weight gain. This does not go well with cupcakes in the house.

I am so not looking forward to tomorrow's snow Particularly since we are out of garbage bags so I really sort of need to go out to buy them in the morning. Meh, I so hope we don't get more than 6 inches. Though I've already been making jokes about pictures of Adina in her first snow.

And a few baby pictures because who doesn't want to see my baby? )
Thank you so much to [livejournal.com profile] becroberts, [livejournal.com profile] sumeragiskank, [livejournal.com profile] isachi, [livejournal.com profile] muscatlove, < lj user=reieien>, [livejournal.com profile] reynardine, [livejournal.com profile] twotone, [livejournal.com profile] bittenbefore, [livejournal.com profile] stardustasylum, [livejournal.com profile] branblyhedge, [livejournal.com profile] mamajoan, [livejournal.com profile] retch, [livejournal.com profile] spazzygirl19, and [livejournal.com profile] thundermew for the birthday wishes here and on Facebook. I appreciate it even if I am super slow about saying thank you.

My birthday was quiet and nice and I actually got sleep thanks to my husband and the baby. And thanks to my cousin, I've now learned how to make the baby smile at me more! :D I also got Departures, Basara on DVD and tomorrow I am so making cupcakes!!!!

Happy Belated Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] akari_sama and [livejournal.com profile] lbmango, trying to get on the internet is just a lot more of a challenge than it use to be. :(

The big news here is: The baby is now large enough to start wearing some brands 0-3 months clothes, I might have Mommy's Thumb (going to the doctor tomorrow), and I am swapping out my old dishes for Fiestaware and secretly I am a Trekkie

And now what you all really want to see... )
So as of yesterday, I've officially passed the 37 week mark, making Ryuchan term. Yesterday's appointment I had a tiny bit more protein in my urine than there should have been the first time I tested but it had vanished to nothing with the second test and my blood pressure was slightly elevated 120/82 (probably from my protein scare) at the start of the appointment but had dropped to 110/78 by the end. So as of now all looks right, she's still head down and they found her heartbeat. Next appointment is week 38. I also am Strep B-!!!!!!! This is very happy as it means no IV and IVs scare me a whole heck of a lot more than labor. For those curious, Strep B just lives in people's bodies and only really causes a problem possibly during labor. Of all the things I was tested for, Strep B is the most common, with 20-30% of the population being positive.

They think she is around 5 1/2 pounds right now, which makes her a little small, but of course 5 1/2 pounds is a lot easier to get out than say 10 pounds lol It will be interesting to see how big she actually is. I am currently watching my belly move of its own volition.

This week end I had my shower! It didn't quite go as I had expected but it was still lots of fun. So many thanks to all my friends and relatives who took the time to come and all the energy and effort they put into it. I feel so blessed by all the funky and amusing gifts and the fact you all took time to come and see me!

Now to work more on the baby naming....

Pictures of the shower and our sukkah! )
Hopefully LJ is no longer wonky today.

I wanted to share how amazingly wonderful my husband is. I don't always post that much about him but lately, I've been feeling even more in love with him than before and just being near him makes me incredibly happy. He tells me he thinks it is hormones, but in the end I don't care what it is, I just appreciate him so much more! Since the morning sickness started 5 long weeks ago, he's brought me breakfast in bed every morning to help me feel well enough to get out of bed. He doesn't mind I'm not cooking much anymore, and did most of the Passover cleaning as well as really helped me put together seder. He comes with me to every one of my doctor's appointments and holds my hand when I get nervous or excited. Every week he sends me reports on the baby's development based on the internet pregnancy sites and lets me babble about purchases I want to (and need to) make for the baby. He runs errands for me and picks me up whatever I am craving without complaint, even if I later develop an aversion to it after puking it up one time too many. He holds me and rubs my back, in bed and when I'm puking and never just sleeps through or ignores me when I am feeling ill and miserable. And yesterday, he gave me a card to let me know that he's thinking of me and sorry I've been so sick and unhappy.

I just feel so lucky!
And for those who want to see our baby.... )
For those curious, I am alive and mostly well and back from Japan! My flight got in yesterday morning without a hitch and unlike my flight in October there were enough booths open in Customs so I didn't have to wait for 30 minutes, and was actually outside with my suitcases within 15-20 minutes.

Japan was lovely and I still owe a Basara report. I took a lot fewer pictures this trip since I spent more time in Tokyo and the first week or so was incredibly incredibly cold and rainy which is not particularly conducive to picture taking.

But for now...

Picture spam! )
Enjoy!
To start things off on a happy note, I got some perfume as a gift from [livejournal.com profile] reynardine Thank you!!!!! It was so sweet of you! :D Now I have one less Holiday scent to try and chase down and debate as my PayPal balance dwindles. I also received the Yo Vampire set I've been dying for as a gift from Red Rosin, whose LJ I don't know. I so appreciate it, and it's like a pseudo birthday gift even if that was not the intention.

On the sucky side, the person I commissioned to get me perfumes at the Trunk Show not only probably didn't get me any of the bottles but hasn't posted that she definitely didn't and I want her to refund my money now since it seems like she didn't get any. I mean it's been a couple days I think it is not unreasonable she refunds me and tells me she definitely didn't succeed. It's really frustrating and annoying, though I might have gotten a testor of Blue Phoenix from someone so I can at least know if I love it.

And even suckier... there is trying to clean the house to sell it. You can't even tell I've done any work. ;;_;; I am trying to be good and toss out all sorts of things I've been saving for reasons unknown including a Hebrew School notebook circa 1983 meaning it is about the same age as [livejournal.com profile] muscatlove It included a wonderful potential letter to a potential Israeli pen pal declaring the following about me: I like to travel, I like using a computer, I love drawing and being "creative." I like dolls and watching TV. I just read that list and think wow.... things really don't change do they lol

But I know everyone wants to see me be a Sengoku Basara fangirl and visit Sendai and Matsushima so...

I would never let a seagull come near me! )

Stay tuned for the scary video I made on the cruise featuring people getting far closer to seagulls that I think a person ever should. I want to state now, *I* did not let those seagulls come near me!
The whole reason I was visiting Aomori, was as a base to visit Osorezan and Oirase stream. I had thought about trying to go to Hirosaki, but I'm now happy I didn't try since the weather turned to rain. lol Osorezan and Oirase are both places that closed for a decent portion of the year because of snow. Having been to Towadako with [livejournal.com profile] ee970 in April and nearly dying in a blizzard, I can attest to why this is a probably a good idea.

A few other places I'd love to visit that are closed a good portion of the year are the other mountains of the Dewa Sanzan, Kamikochi and of course Fuji-san.

Oirase is a popular stream to visit that flows out of Towadako. (I have lots of lake pictures from when I went with [livejournal.com profile] ee970, but we were on the opposite side of the lake, you can also see the lake from the air a few posts back) It is one of *THE* Fall Foliage spots in Japan. You can either drive along a road that runs not so far from the stream, do a tour bus and get off at a few famous bus stops, or hike 8+kms along the stream. I picked the latter.

A hiking we will go )

Next up is my adventures being a Sengoku Basara fangirl and knocking off another view. :D
Happy Belated to my favorite giant blond, I should draw something. >>;;

I am attempting to rid myself of VHS tapes for the move, unfortunately Disney does some ridiculous thing with a vault to make it annoying if you missed buying their DVDs when they were reasonably priced. *shakes fist in anger*

My house still does not yet look like normal people live here, I wonder if we can do it.

I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving, and what better way is there to spend Thanksgiving week end than seeing uhhh pictures of Hokkaido and Tohoku!

Return of the neverending Japan pictures )
Because tomorrow the painters are coming to do the dinning room and I need to clean it up enough for them to pain and I have to leave for the train at 6:00 pm and I haven't packed yet. But instead I am sitting on LJ because I am a bad person like that.

[livejournal.com profile] paleonaturist is sure to get a kick out of my non-doll Sato pictures lol Same with [livejournal.com profile] cc_lemon) BTW don't expect a lot of doll pictures cause after falling into the lake my arm hurt a lot and I was not going to carry much with me unless I thought I needed it.

Attack of the more pictures of Japan )

The next set of pictures will be some places that are a little more off the beaten path. Lots of people go to places like Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Hakone, and Kamakura. It's not that people don't visit these places Oirase was crawling with Chinese tourists, but if you visit say Japan Guide things in Tohoku are just less popular because they are often harder to get to and involve buses.

I also need to share some pictures from April/May at some point since I realized I don't think I shared pictures of Sakata (watch me pretend to be in Okuribito (Departures) and unknowingly get hit on) Haguro-san (sacred mountain of the Dewa Sanzan, the other two were closed on account of snow) a few pictures from when I rented a private bath in Zao Onsen, and Yonezawa (burial place of Uesugi Kenshin)
I am now the proud owner of a droid, yes despite owning a Mac laptop and am Ipod when it came time to finally upgrade from my evil junkie cell phone I ended up with a droid lol The Iphone got rejected because 1) It is not on Verizon and 2) Husband wants to do some programming and make some apps and it seems the procedure to do so on Iphone sucks and you need to get approval vs. the droid which is completely open. Personally, I would love a nice little way to better keep track of my grocery shopping and perhaps something to help me track Copic Markers owned and doujinshi owned >>;;;;

Anyway, for anyone who wanted to see some pictures from my most recent trip to Japan.. or umm trips, hmmm, below is a selection.

Picture Spam HO )

More pictures in subsequent posts!
So let's see...

Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] hinoai and [livejournal.com profile] bramblyhedge, I know both your birthdays are around now, but I've been busy, and happy early birthday to [livejournal.com profile] cc_lemon in case I don't post on the 9th.

Much has been going on with dolls. I got my dollflower eyes and Rigel finally arrived. Rigel post will be upcoming (mine has no face-up just to warn you now) I love the quality of the DollFlower but sadly Gino's eyes were way too small for him and Suzaku's make him look like he is stoned. ~.~ Suzaku will probably be moving to a pair of Everpurples in the next group order. On the bright side, Lelouch looks gorgeous in his new DollFlowers!

To show them off..

More yo adventures, for some reason my camera hates Rolo o_O )
