This year I got my first official Mother's Day gift, a Kindle! I'm pretty excited though I admit right now with the "screen saver" type thing it has up it looks fake. lol I'm excited to change over some of my books to electronic format so they take up less space. I've had few books at my disposable since most of my current collection is living in boxes in my basement. :/ Plus if I ever do make it back to Japan, Kindle==best for planes. I like my old iPod but the battery just could not handle 14 hours of flying. It will be nice to have something the battery will last days on, not hours.

We've finally found a solid food Adina likes. So far we've tried: sweet potatoes, rice cereal, carrots and peas. And peas is our winner, she actually opens her mouth to eat them! I'm not sure if it is just because she is used to the solid concept now or what, but I will take what I can get because I want her eat solids so I can work on less pumping! I've moved from 4 to 3x a day but I really really really want to move to 2. I ought to be sharing some pictures of her but I need to edit them. Her hair is still light and her eyes are still gray and everyone says strangely enough she looks like me. I sort of hope that is true as she is lovely. And overall she has an amazingly sweet and lovely personality. She is currently leaning over a cushion and hiccuping.

I'm also going to my first doll meet in I don't know how long, possibly since the NY Doll Party thing last summer, which is just wow. I'm super excited because I will get to meet [livejournal.com profile] sephyelysian and her partner and show off my baby. Oh and bring my dolls too... Maybe I can even sell some of the doll things I don't want XD;;;

And OK I lied...

Don't blame me for cutting off the top of my sister's head, I didn't take the picture. I'm still heavy, but I think my face looks a little thinner and hopefully between someday weaning and trying to exercise more I can lose the rest of what I want! :D
Even if it's a bit late. Also a happy belated birthday to [livejournal.com profile] dilettantka and [livejournal.com profile] akaisakura You were both in my thoughts on your respective birthdays (2nd and 4th) even though I was slow to post about it. :(

I've packed up two more boxes of returns and two boxes of items to go out. I just now have the doll I sold once payment is complete and lots of thank yous and some more announcements. Wheeeee. But I got something done, and went for my walk and snuggled my baby so life is good.

Actually, life is surprisingly good. [livejournal.com profile] sumeragiskank linked me to a download and when I first saw it was Tenipuri related I was full of trepidation. I adore [livejournal.com profile] sumeragiskank but I consider me and Tenipuri a bad break up as in the end the only character I liked never really showed up. But having been friends for so long, I trusted her and watched and... and... Tenipuri came about as close as I ever hoped to giving me exactly what I wanted.. after 6 years. Yes, they had Yuuta and Yagyuu actually interacting and Niou flirting with Syuusuke and freaking Yuuta out. It was beautiful. It also had Syuusuke hitting on Yuuta and shared that when Yuuta was a little boy his brother forced him to wear horrible costumes the one in the story seriously looked like a cross between Peter Pan's and Tinkerbell's. and still liked to force Yuuta to do this. It took 6 years, and it was just a short, but thank you for finally giving me something I wanted.

In other news... I also actually did a box opening thread. Visit DoA and be in awe of my lack of photography skills.

Doll Crap

Anyone on my FLIST who is interested...

I'm giving away a ton of Dolpa Guides and Volks News All you need to do is pay actual shipping cost, the magazines themselves are free.

I'm also selling some Yos if anyone is interested. Babies are expensive and my interests are changing.

Expect lots of anime items for sale in the very near future.
So I should be working on my Japan trip since I am leaving tomorrow, but I am resting in bed because I am exhausted from NY Dolpa.

Some nice things happened, [livejournal.com profile] sumeragiskank, [livejournal.com profile] kosquarepelli and I were able to reunite a doll with her owner after we found the doll on the sidewalk while walking to my car. I was able to get two decent free parking spaces both days, I got to see my parents and my mom and I went to my favorite cafe in Larchmont for lunch on Friday. I got a chance to meet people and see other people I only see once a year. My new maternity dresses looked really pretty on. And I learned how to say "It's a girl" and another way to say "I'm pregnant" in Japanese. My mom had amazing super expensive conditioner that smelt ehhh but was amazing in my hair and I might have finally found something to use to wash my face with and which doesn't irritate my skin. It got rid of the dry skin on my arms and made me look even more like I was glowing. (though that might have been the pregnancy) I sort of want to buy some now...

I don't think a lot of people could tell I was pregnant. People mostly seemed surprised when I said I was. My belly got touched by lots of people lol Ryuchan was being somewhat active and is being active now. When I feel sad about something she kicks more as if to say "Don't be sad `mommy' I love you and I am with you." I feel so lucky to have her in my life already and she hasn't even been born yet. I know a lot of people I know don't like children and/or do not want any of their own, but I really wanted her and it means so much to me when I can feel her moving.

Thank you so much [livejournal.com profile] cc_lemon and [livejournal.com profile] blacktempest for my very first two baby gifts. It's so exciting for me to start to get things for her. Both your gifts were generous and extremely thoughtful.

Some things did not go as well as I would like this week end. As usual the food at the Dolpa was awful. I can understand why the food was awful, but it still makes me unhappy. A few other things were incredibly disappointing for me, but there is not much to be done about it.

Remind me next time I volunteer to run a group order, that I am a moron and it is not worth the money or time you save.

I think half my group order is not happy with their eyes and many of which have valid points.

In general, the Special eyes did not come out well though the eyes seemed higher quality than in the first group order I was in.
Now that it's December, my good buddy the Big Sight scheduler has decided to share that Dolpa 23 will be 5/4. Thankfully this is not the same date as either SCC day 1 or day 2. Though I imagine by the 4th I will be exhausted with 3 events in a row. Though of course I am thinking of trying to get me some dealer's passes for SCC >D
Because tomorrow the painters are coming to do the dinning room and I need to clean it up enough for them to pain and I have to leave for the train at 6:00 pm and I haven't packed yet. But instead I am sitting on LJ because I am a bad person like that.

[livejournal.com profile] paleonaturist is sure to get a kick out of my non-doll Sato pictures lol Same with [livejournal.com profile] cc_lemon) BTW don't expect a lot of doll pictures cause after falling into the lake my arm hurt a lot and I was not going to carry much with me unless I thought I needed it.

Attack of the more pictures of Japan )

The next set of pictures will be some places that are a little more off the beaten path. Lots of people go to places like Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Hakone, and Kamakura. It's not that people don't visit these places Oirase was crawling with Chinese tourists, but if you visit say Japan Guide things in Tohoku are just less popular because they are often harder to get to and involve buses.

I also need to share some pictures from April/May at some point since I realized I don't think I shared pictures of Sakata (watch me pretend to be in Okuribito (Departures) and unknowingly get hit on) Haguro-san (sacred mountain of the Dewa Sanzan, the other two were closed on account of snow) a few pictures from when I rented a private bath in Zao Onsen, and Yonezawa (burial place of Uesugi Kenshin)
I am now the proud owner of a droid, yes despite owning a Mac laptop and am Ipod when it came time to finally upgrade from my evil junkie cell phone I ended up with a droid lol The Iphone got rejected because 1) It is not on Verizon and 2) Husband wants to do some programming and make some apps and it seems the procedure to do so on Iphone sucks and you need to get approval vs. the droid which is completely open. Personally, I would love a nice little way to better keep track of my grocery shopping and perhaps something to help me track Copic Markers owned and doujinshi owned >>;;;;

Anyway, for anyone who wanted to see some pictures from my most recent trip to Japan.. or umm trips, hmmm, below is a selection.

I am supposed to meet someone on Friday in Japan who seems super nice but is under the assumption her US cell phone will just work in Japan and that I will be able to just "text her" with my Japanese cell phone. which [livejournal.com profile] ee970 says is impossible.

She wants to just meet at Namba Station rather than my two actual suggestions of OCAT since that is where I will arrive or a Starbucks near Takashimaya I sent her a map of.

This so spells DOOM.

DOOM

I guess at least we will definitely meet on Saturday at the cruise... assuming she can get from Osaka to Kobe....
So let's see...

Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] hinoai and [livejournal.com profile] bramblyhedge, I know both your birthdays are around now, but I've been busy, and happy early birthday to [livejournal.com profile] cc_lemon in case I don't post on the 9th.

Much has been going on with dolls. I got my dollflower eyes and Rigel finally arrived. Rigel post will be upcoming (mine has no face-up just to warn you now) I love the quality of the DollFlower but sadly Gino's eyes were way too small for him and Suzaku's make him look like he is stoned. ~.~ Suzaku will probably be moving to a pair of Everpurples in the next group order. On the bright side, Lelouch looks gorgeous in his new DollFlowers!

To show them off..

More yo adventures, for some reason my camera hates Rolo o_O )
..too bad the lighting sucks )

Some Omake pictures )
I know everyone is looking forward to pictures of our visit to Jesus' grave as well as our snow storm lol

...at least there were no bear signs )
I'm waiting and hoping to make contact with the architect so he can contact the plumbers so they can come and install my new faucet. Our new countertops are truly love and cost a lot more than I expected. ~.~ But other than price and the awful smell from the chemical glue, the biggest problem has been waiting for the faucet so we have water again. The faucet finally came, but now I can't seem to contact anyone to let them know it is here! GAH

So before I try to vanish upstairs to work on things, a selection of pictures from my March trip so I can finally finish it up.

Because then I have the pictures and videos from my GW trip >>;  )
Finally it truly feels like Spring is here. I can walk around without my jacket and scarf and my hands don't freeze when they're not stuffed in my pockets. Plus the sakura and ume are starting to show up here as well. It's nice, hopefully I can get some seeds planted now. I plan to soak some tomato seeds this evening for seedlings and then maybe get some other things in the ground tomorrow when the road is not being torn up in front of my house by the gas/electric company.

And in honor of the sakura finally appearing here...
Warning: An insane number of flower pictures below cut. I am picking and choosing but I took over 300 pictures in Fukuoka just to warn people now.

Yeah, I traveled all the way to Fukuoka just for this )

If I'd not had all my stuff back in the hotel in Kyoto I would have wanted to stay in Fukuoka!
Last night I had two bad dreams both based on real life. The first involved the dollar suddenly sinking to $1=1 yen right before my trip to Japan. I'm sure this is because the dollar to yen ratio dipped recently from a little over 100 to 98, though now it is back around 99, but I always feel anxiety now especially after the misery of 85 yen to the dollar. I also then dreamed I somehow got on a Tokaido shinkansen without anyone checking for tickets and made it all the way to some random semi-inaka station called "Sakae" not far from Kokura and the edge of Honshu. i was walking through the station when suddenly I realized I had not ticket or rail pass and trains only came once every hour or two and I was stuck. I think this means I need to order my pass. >>;;; Of course this trip, I am unlikely to end up anywhere near Kokura as I am getting a JR East only pass. At the moment the 4 day Flex pass seems the best bet since I am only definitely taking expensive trains on Fri, Tuesday and Thursday. I think I'm going to private line it to Tokyo from Narita since they're all cheaper and faster to get to Ikebukuro and just bus it from my hotel on the 6th, since then I don't need to takyuubin! :D

I hope you're not sick of flower pictures in Japan yet... )

I also finally watched the first episode of the new FMA and Sengoku Basara )
It seems recently there was a study where it was discovered there is brown fat which helps you to lose weight! But for it to work you need to spend several hours in temperatures of 61F/16C a day. If this is all true and I have brown fat, I am so set. The house dropped down to 56 last night and I'm so cold ;;_;;

Some AMAZING sacrilegiousness involving Christianity courtesy of Japan )

Go West Young Woman or at least as far as Nagoya )
I ought to be cleaning my house but my husband is sleeping and I am being lazy. >>;;; It doesn't help that the room I want to work on is the bedroom lol

For those who want to see a few fast doll pictures from my most recent trip to Japan Just visit DoA If you're not a member and still want to see them, uhh just let me know lol

I have more. >>;

..and for those who want to see Japan or rather the flowers of Japan )
So I think I am going to skip out on the Tenshi no Sato event. I've been thinking about it and thinking about it and when it comes right down to it, dreading it. Yeah I could maybe get something there, but it will involve waking up at some awful hour and standing in line for hours, which is just really not overly appealing.

I'm not arguing Volks needs to change its practices. These methods work in Japan, in fact the Japanese almost seem to enjoy waiting in line to try to get something. Since arriving here on Thurs night I've seen people: waiting in line for a restaurant to open, waiting in line to buy some sort of sweet potato product in Tokyo Station, waiting in line for I think movie tickets and this does not even include line waiting for HaruComi or any of the circles there or any of the Pachinko Parlors I am sure people are waiting for.

But see with Haru, or SCC or even a Comiket, I know if I get up early enough in the morning chances are really high I *WILL* actually get what I want. I might wait in line for hours for something to start and then wait in line for a big circle once the event has started, but my chances of actually getting something are pretty high. I will be rewarded. This is not true at a Volks event. I never draw a good lottery # and instead I will spend hours waiting in line for naught except aggravation. Do I like the bamboo wings, yes, yes I do. Do I like them enough to wait 2-3 hours in line for maybe a chance to buy? My answer is a little less strong.

It also doesn't help that I will be getting up early to stand in a long line on Sunday.

Volks can keep their lottery practices and not revealing how large a release will be, and I have the option to not play.

I think I am going to take it.

At last!!

Feb. 13th, 2009 11:22 pm
My prayers have been answered! and Volks has finally revealed the date and dolls for the anniversary event.

I love the new young bamboo wings! Thank you Volks dolly gods for sharing, now we just need the dolls for the Kyoto Dolpa and life is great! :D
I'm still working through older LJ flist posts so if you suddenly see a response from me on an older post, that is why. Thank you again for your patience in advance.

In doll news, I totally need to take pictures of my current family, some characters have been re-worked and others sold. I'm considering selling my SD boy F-35 to change the character to another shell, he would come with FCS only wig and zouks, I would be asking $900+US shipping which is much less than it would cost to order a FCS from Sato new. He's on the jointed SD boy body and he has FCS only hands, I want to say the clasped ones.

Scenes from time spent in Osaka.. )
