Well Fuck

So after going back and forth with the sellers for more than a week, being patient when they wanted all week end to think about our last offer, THEY DECIDED TO TAKE THEIR FUCKING HOUSE OFF THE MARKET Just to make things clear, THEY LISTED THEIR HOUSE FOR SALE FUCKING OCTOBER 2011, SO FOR SOME FUCKING REASON THEY DIDN'T RECONSIDER SELLING THEIR DAMN HOUSE UNTIL WE ARE FUCKING NEGOTIATING FOR IT. I'm so pissed off and angry and now I need to find a house because I am sick of my townhome. I want a garden, that is why we came up here and I am not allowed to grow anything up here. I can't have a fucking sukkah because the people are assholes, and I just want a fucking house already. UGH!
I ordered an item with Prime shipping on the 23rd and now Amazon is saying it is not going to arrive here until the 29?!!?!? WTF Plus the items was $2 cheaper via the seller who is sending it non-2day to me. This is not like a book, this is an item I desperately need and counted on arriving on the 25th. If I'd known it wasn't going to happen I'd have just gone to Target to buy it and skipped Amazon, or tried to put an order together at Diapers.com. This is so unacceptable.
So today, I got a message from livejournal that someone had commented on one of my posts asking why they could not download a scanned doujinshi. I should note, the post I had made sharing the scan was from 2008. I should also note that the comment right above theirs from 2010 was asking the same thing they were asking, how come they can not download the zip. When I told the jerk to please see my response to previous questioner, they responded back whining about how they just really want the doujinshi to download. WTF?!?! Buy the damn book yourself you cheap schmuck. Having seen how rare it is for people to credit circles when they then reuse their art for icons/moods/etc. Having tried to be a doujinshika and met so many circles and worked with them, I can see why things like this piss them off. I am not going to contribute to the problem and so removed scans.

And seriously, why should I still be hosting a doujinshi I posted about in 2008?!!?!
Someone in the damn complex turned us in for HAVING A SUKKAH! GRRRRRRRRRRR

So now we have to convince them we should be allowed to keep our sukkah, my beautiful precious sukkah! ~.~

Grrrrrr

Yesterday when walking to get the mail from our central mail drop off area I encountered a sign offering two cats to a good home because their owners were having a second child. This just left me livid. I like kids, I think it's great if people want to have them, heck, look at me! But when you take on the responsibility of caring for an animal you can't just dump that animal when it becomes "inconvenient." I adore Ryuchan, but there is no way I'm giving up Cookie or Basil just "because I'm pregnant." Not only do I love them and they love me, but I have a responsibility to take care of them.
I want to preface this rant by saying I like children, even small children. I also am a pet owner and adore my cats. Anyone who knows me, knows that Cookie and Basil mean the world to me. So this rant is not a diatribe about pet ownership or having children, this is about being responsible and respectful of other people.

As usual Passover has been a huge mess. My parents have kept with family tradition and managed to have a huge fight. One of the issues, was the surprise invitation of the small children of a close friend of my father's. Said children are 4 and 6 respectively. The older one, tends to behave while the younger one does not. My parents have no grandchildren and their youngest child is older than many people who read my LJ lol Their house is not even close to being childproof an it currently has 8+ inches of water in the basement because something has gone horribly wrong.

My father's perspective was that if you invite his friend since she has young children of course said children are invited.

And my perspective, is young children, like pets or any dietary restrictions are something that must be warned about BEFORE you show up at a house unless you know said house will be accepting of said issues in advance. If you know someone runs a home day care for toddlers than yeah, they can probably deal with your kid, just like if they have a child close to the same age as your child, their house has probably already been child-proofed.

I've had someone show up at my house and then become upset because I would not let her tiny dog into my house. They did not warn me ahead of time and just assumed since they adored their dog and their dog was so good that of course it could just come to my house. The problem with this, I own cats. I own cats that are terrified of any and all dogs and most other cats as well and I was not going to put my cats out just because someone was being rude and had not asked ahead of time if it was OK to bring her dog.

Small children are no different. If they're under 3 months old, one can make the strong assumption the mother is likely to bring them, just because if they are nursing it is sort of hard not to bring them with you somewhere. However between newborn and even up to 1 year, most kids can be put in a playpen and will stay where you put them to some extent. Toddlers and children under 5 need child proofing. They need constant supervision. Just looking at my house I have, perfumes that smell wonderful but I am sure are not wonderful to taste in an easy to open cabinet under my TV, lots of cleaning products in easy reach of small children and not locked away and many many expensive dolls that are very tempting.

And again, it is like another issue near and dear to my heart, being a vegetarian. As a vegetarian, unless I know the other people I am visiting are also vegetarian. I owe it to my host/hostess to warn them about my dietary restrictions when I am first invited and to allow my host/hostess the chance to back out. However, if they accept our company, they owe us something we can actually eat.

In the end, I guess I think people need to be responsible and take responsibility. It's not about not valuing choices, it's about being respectful of others as well.
So I am awaiting the New York Times to approve my comment for the Q&A section of the Travel Section. For those who don't know, I love reading the Travel Section, even when it is about places I am unlikely to ever or even want to go. I just find the idea of travel completely fascinating. But this particularly Q&A was rather near and dear to my heart. lol

As it was on Vegetarian options in Tokyo The person answering the question obvious is not vegetarian and has not spend any time researching this question at all. They recommend two Shojin Ryori places, one of which I am pretty sure got an awful write up in the 2007 Vegan Pocketguide and both are like 7000 yen a person lol Not everyone going to Tokyo has quite that budget for meals ~.~ The responses following are vaguely helpful and yet not. The person mentioning Indian doesn't even bring up Nataraj the Indian chain that is JUST vegetarian has at least 3 branches in Tokyo, one of which is on the main shopping street in Ginza. The Japanese respondent has some even worse recommendations... Cucumber and Mayo sandwiches on white bread?!?! I do not know ANY vegetarian who wants to eat that gross crap. It's like suggesting to foreigners how amazing Corn, Tuna and Mayo pizza is. If I want to eat a vegetarian sandwich in Tokyo I am going to go to Dean and Deluca and get a real sandwich on non-Wonder-esque bread.

The thing is, having been to Japan many many times there are places where being a vegetarian is a challenge. In Aomori I brought my own food and eventually got pizza at Cappricosa once I discovered the chain was there, since pizza is usually a sure bet. Towada city and Towadako both were not very vegetarian friendly and only a few full service restaurants in Tokyo Disney Sea had any options vs say Disney parks in the US. I've been many places where it is a challenge to be vegetarian in Japan... but Tokyo is not one of those places. I can highly recommend the following restaurants that are all mostly VEGAN: DevaDeva Cafe (popular with meat-eaters too!), Loving Hut (so convenient now that I know where it is) Eat More Greens (open super late! and their new menu is amazing) Brown Rice Cafe and the Pure Cafe (2 good places in Harajuku!) and my beloved Chien Fu out in Tachikawa for when you want to schlep. I also enjoyed Govindas, and my crazy chinese Vegetarian buffet Saishoku Kenbi. I want to try J's Kitchen and if the weather was good I would do the take out falafel in Roppongi. The only place I've tried that truly sucked was Vegan Healing, which was very Diet For A Small Planet early vegan cooking. I liked It's Vegetable but the portions were tiny! But the food we got was good. And there are so many more places listed I've not even tried because they're just not places I normally sightsee. And these are strictly Vegetarian/Vegan places as in no meat at all in the menu. This is not even including how easy it is to find pizza through out Tokyo (the dairy eating Vegetarian's refuge)

I look forward now to all my trips to Tokyo not only to see my friends, but for the chance to go back to favorite restaurants.

*sighs*

It looks like I am going to have to look into themes and how to do one, as well as making a few icons. It's a bit odd getting used to a new system but I suspect I can manage it.

Entries here are more than likely NOT going to be cross-posted to my LJ. Non Fanfiction/Fanart entries will most likely be locked.

I've realized with my LJ I'm too often afraid of making waves and I don't often voice my opinion anymore after that little wankfest from a few years ago. I also find I'm not always good at being confrontational when people I know in person are making me want to rip my hair out, so quite a few of these posts are going to be about my actual opinions. Some of these opinions are controversial and you might not like them. Such as...

I think high corn syrup for the most part is evil and I'm trying in 2009 to eat as little of it as possible. I'm not against sweetners, I just believe in using actual sugar or honey or maple syrup or... I believe that high fructose corn syrup is one of the contributing factors to weight gain among people in the US. It's not a natural product and was created and added to things to help with the overabundance of corn.
Seriously hate DELTA and I am going to do my best to never use them again.

Entry edited after taking many deep breaths and managing to get done most of the errands for the day

In happier news I think I am getting a YoSD Ryo ♥ Retail Therapy is your friend.
I decided to look into getting more flatware since we seem to always be running out whenever we have company as I think we only have service for 12. I decided to be smart and visit the Oneida website and lo and behold not only is out pattern discontinued it was only made for 1 year, so a single place setting now costs about the same as i paid for my service for 12 ~.~ Plus Oneida had no recommendations on complimentary patterns since mine is so different. GRRRRRR GRRRR GRRRR Why only produce a pattern for a single year?!?!

On the happy side, for our last CSA drop off we actually got a great selection of things! We got apples and carrots (apple crisp and carrot cake anyone?) as well as potatoes, kale and onions. I'm excited thinking about food for Thanksgiving now. Once I find it again I shall share my recipe for apple crisp of a sort. I tend to put a crust under my crisp as even though it ups the calorie count it makes it ever so much easier to serve. I want to bake pumpkin cookies. I need something sweet in the house and I'm in the mood for them or maybe chocolate chip, or maybe both. >>;

On the less than happy side, I promised to test some recipes for the Synagogue cook book. I picked ones that sounded interesting without first seeing what was in them. For Hubby's Office Potluck I made the Mexican Lasagna which was simple and easy to make and full of lots of calories and salt. I tried to cut down on the sodium by not using an instant taco packet, but even so! I'm not sure what I would do to lighten it if I was to make it again, I definitely would try to use less canned items and maybe switch to whole wheat tortillas? My next up recipe is scones which present a problem as I realized I do not own a cookie/scone cutter. I am so going to go search back through my random baking things. Finally, I volunteered to make a carrot souffle since I think that sounded good but the more I look at the recipe the more I am doubting that. It uses corn flakes. Corn flakes. I don't even like eating them in parfaits if I can help it. Ugh. I am not sure what I am going to do.
First, I figured I would ask here first before going to a community or some such. Does anyone want to take over Penal-Tea.net? I realized I really just don't care anymore about Tenipuri. Even hearing that the Yuuta based character gets a lot of attention in the Taiwanese drama has not tempted me to download it. I'm just sort of... over Tenipuri. Penal-tea's domain is coming up for renewal in December and rather than just letting the domain name expire, if someone wants it I can look into transferring ownership and all those other good things to them since conceivably it is possible. You would not be expected to keep everything up as is, you can do whatever you wanted with it, I just hate to see the name get bought by one of those companies that just buys domain names.

In other news, rant #1 for the day. I admit, I'm selling a ton of doujinshi and I have a ton of other official merchandise to sell as well. But I'm so annoyed by the person who contacted me via eBay despite the fact I've not listed anything on eBay at all, refuses to handle the transaction off eBay's messaging system which goes against eBay's policies and could get *ME* into trouble. I mean WTH! They announce themselves as if I've previously sold to them before but I'm not one of the 8 feedbacks they have on eBay and I don't remember selling doujinshi to anyone in the UK. (France, Germany and the Netherlands, yes, the UK no.) Then they want me to translate the doujinshi and are asking what language they are in?!?! WTH. Also I don't think they seem to get this, if I'm listing things via LJ and I'm not asking a lot of money for them, then uhh no I'm not scanning inside pages or working on descriptions. I'm doing this like when you buy used in Japan, where all you can see is the cover since the book is in a bag. If they contact me one more time I am going to contact eBay since I am not about to risk my account being suspended. And I really prefer not to sell via eBay because as a seller I need to protect myself and don't want to have to jump through the hoops they've created in an attempt to "protect" buyers. In particular these protections REALLY hurt when it comes to selling Internationally. I try to be a good and reliable seller but this is just annoying and any money they may or not spend buying from me just does not seem worth it. ~.~
