Even if it's a bit late. Also a happy belated birthday to [livejournal.com profile] dilettantka and [livejournal.com profile] akaisakura You were both in my thoughts on your respective birthdays (2nd and 4th) even though I was slow to post about it. :(

I've packed up two more boxes of returns and two boxes of items to go out. I just now have the doll I sold once payment is complete and lots of thank yous and some more announcements. Wheeeee. But I got something done, and went for my walk and snuggled my baby so life is good.

Actually, life is surprisingly good. [livejournal.com profile] sumeragiskank linked me to a download and when I first saw it was Tenipuri related I was full of trepidation. I adore [livejournal.com profile] sumeragiskank but I consider me and Tenipuri a bad break up as in the end the only character I liked never really showed up. But having been friends for so long, I trusted her and watched and... and... Tenipuri came about as close as I ever hoped to giving me exactly what I wanted.. after 6 years. Yes, they had Yuuta and Yagyuu actually interacting and Niou flirting with Syuusuke and freaking Yuuta out. It was beautiful. It also had Syuusuke hitting on Yuuta and shared that when Yuuta was a little boy his brother forced him to wear horrible costumes the one in the story seriously looked like a cross between Peter Pan's and Tinkerbell's. and still liked to force Yuuta to do this. It took 6 years, and it was just a short, but thank you for finally giving me something I wanted.

In other news... I also actually did a box opening thread. Visit DoA and be in awe of my lack of photography skills.
For those who don't know, I have a bad habit of reading Problem Transaction threads on DoA. I think it is that trainwreck sort of mentality, the same sort of reason people read any of those blogs that share stupid things people do.

Sometimes you feel bad for the people in the threads and sometimes you think they're both morons.

I have been a poster as well, I was in a group order that went horribly wrong and the after 5 months the order had "vanished" and then had to wait another month to be reimbursed. It was an important lesson to never join a group order just because you are "friendly" with someone, particularly when they are rude to you when you join their order. I've also been a seller who had my money frozen when someone who bought things from me rather inexplicably gave me a chargeback. Luckily, in that case I was behind with my mailing and the item in question had not gone out rather than my usual 24 hour turnaround time.

I've been following the misadventures of two people who made the mistake of selling things to two recent International members who acted like they knew the consequences of their shipping choices and requests to have items marked down but then filed PayPal claims knowing that PayPal would find in their favor. Because I sell/ship Internationally, I found these particular threads most useful as it was too easy to see myself in the same position of the other two hapless sellers. And personally, I know as a seller *I* would want to know that these buyers will file claims for things that are their own fault.

Fortunately, both have now been Marketplace Banned and I say kudos to the mods of DoA for doing so.
Once again I've made a foray into the Debate section on DoA and have unintentionally managed to get the thread locked and a post deleted. (It's not my fault I was posting while Zagzagael was threatening to lock the thread, I didn't know she was doing that. ^^; )

For those who want to read I don't post until close to the halfway mark It's a debate on why some of us do not have a high regard or refuse to purchase Chinese made dolls and if there is a stigma attached to such dolls. I hate the way some posters expect us all to compromise and agree that as long as a doll is loved that is all that matters or that it is the owner's doll so who cares, why post to a debate thread if that is your opinion? But I tried to be polite and bring up interesting points as well as my personal issues with Chinese made BJDs. What gets me is people who make unsubstantiated statements and then get upset when someone calls them on it and isn't just comforting or agree with them. If they want agreement and a sympathetic shoulder to cry on, post on LJ not on a debate thread on DoA. Maybe when Doll Zone first started out there were people on DoA regularly making snide comments about Chinese BJDs but I think things have really died down except occasionally misconstrued comments in the debate thread and really if you can't state your actual opinion in a debate thread, I think there is a problem.

Unfortunately, sometimes the rudeness is because someone does not like you and has nothing to do with your dolls. Sometimes your photo stories and pictures are ignored because of you or the effort you've put in to your dolls and their pictures, not because of where your doll is from. There is real persecution out there, but looking for it where it might not actually exist is a little ridiculous, particularly in something like a hobby.

I feel irked because I don't think I said anything particularly mean or uncivil or any sort of personal attack. I DO feel bad for Karla-chan if she really thinks people are looking down on her and her friend's dolls all the time, because really where is the fun in owning your dolls then. I feel like if I am going to get called "mean" or "uncivil" or making a personal attack I want to have done so. I want to have said something snarky and funny and mean... like GirlWhoLived not just questioned whether or not there were actual facts to substantiate these allegations.
LJ does not appear to be working so I am wondering if this will even be able to post. I was going to make a long and wangsty rant about some of the DoA people who are really bugging me at the moment, but it just doesn't seem worth it. Not when I have more important things on my mind, like trying to get tickets to see the Sengoku Basara Festa. One of the guests is of course, Hoshi Souichirou (since he plays one of the 2 leads and my favorite character Sanada Yukimura) For those who don't know Hoshi has been my favorite seiyuu (Sakurai is #2, even if Suzaku is my favorite character) since 2001, when I first heard from Angelic Layer. He was just so charming and smarmy as Oujirou, I loved it. And while Sanada is nothing like Oujirou, I would be so thrilled to finally have this opportunity. The Festa is the week end after my hopefully next doujinshi event, White Valentine's Day. I have to say, doing doujinshi is somewhat addicting. You do one, and then you sort of feel like you want to do more. It doesn't hurt that the last event I was rather successful and actually managed to sell around 20 books total. Please everyone, hope that I am as lucky at the next event! :D

One nice thing about going to Japan is, seeing movies on the plane so here are some spoilerifc thoughts on the Japanese movies I saw Hagetaka /the Vulture, Kita no Zeronen/Year 1 in the North, Rookies - Sotsugyo/Rookies, and Katen no Shiro/Castle Under Fiery Skies as well as the US movies Gi Joe: Rise of Cobra and Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
Lots of spoilerific thoughts )

In the future hopefully there will be discussions on the books Havemercy and Shadow Magic

I also tried 4 Conjure Oils. Poison Apple is not bad, but the other 3, Blood Rush, Gingerbread House and Sweet Death are incredibly awful.

I am supposed to meet someone on Friday in Japan who seems super nice but is under the assumption her US cell phone will just work in Japan and that I will be able to just "text her" with my Japanese cell phone. which [livejournal.com profile] ee970 says is impossible.

She wants to just meet at Namba Station rather than my two actual suggestions of OCAT since that is where I will arrive or a Starbucks near Takashimaya I sent her a map of.

This so spells DOOM.

DOOM

I guess at least we will definitely meet on Saturday at the cruise... assuming she can get from Osaka to Kobe....

I would seriously pay good money to see someone hit Midnight Dreamer with a cream pie.

It's seriously a good thing I am not a mod cause I would so banninate her for being a moron and obnoxious.

Hotel reservations have hit some new snags and I'm trying to figure out how in the heck I use my supposed JR discount cause I think my life will be complete if I can stay in a hotel with a 8 million dollar spa wing.

just wow...

I know people are allowed to scalp as much as they want and I defend that right even if some of the rampant scalping in the doll community has really gotten to me but...

this is just ridiculous

Does she really think we're all dumb enough to fall for her "LOWER Prices" when she's not changed the prices AT ALL. I mean come on, this is not about price policing, this is about telling someone they ought to actually lower their prices if they are going to claim the prices are lower.

Yes, I do think you're a flaky buyer if you have a WTB thread ask me questions about said doll over several days, request pictures and then decide you have too many bills to buy said doll. Don't make a WTB thread if you don't have the money to buy said doll or at least say in said thread you need layaway or that it is feeler. And don't ask for pictures only to suddenly have too many bills.

Yeah, I know there are plenty of people scamming buyers but buyers like this make me wish we could compile of list so that sellers don't get screwed over either or have their time wasted.
I think the mods at DoA are having some sort of pissing contest with the former DoA mods now modding Resinality . I know some mods for both/either or, might read this, but about right now I want to stress this *IS* my private LJ, and I do think so long as I am polite in the community I should be allowed to speak my mind here without fear of repercussion and without needing to flock.

I'm not sure which set of mods thinks the general users are dense, but it's quite obvious that the splitting which made Resinality was *NOT* amicable and no amounts of posting in thanks to the former mods will convince me otherwise. The very fact news is shared on one forum and not the other should make that completely clear. I don't care what caused the split, both boards can have a purpose. Groups and allowing an OT group is brilliant idea. It's wonderful getting a chance to see which members I share things in common with and others I don't and I can ignore groups that don't interest me at all.

But it feels like DoA has suddenly decided it needs ads because Resinality has ads and people like it there! (Now why they couldn't decide we need an OT section instead... )

On Resinality, I don't mind it, Resinality has less than 10% the number of members of DoA and just does not have a marketplace the scope of DoA. DoA has given its users a week to switch to this new form without having worked out some major kinks and issues. Could the mods at both boards please stop the pissing contest and think of the actual people using your boards? Or if not invite in some new mods who are not just your friends and can give you input before you make gigantic changes. OK thanx!
