More thoughts on Japan, before I text/email

becroberts to let her know that I am awake.

I am currently attempting to figure out how to get the one Basara Festa ticket I have. I'm hoping that it will be shipped to me in my hotel in Kyoto or that I can somehow pick it up in the morning tomorrow.

I've been spending lots of time with

codename_windy and I hope to meet up with

hinoai tonight! :D

I'm trying not to be tempted by cute skirts and the weather is finally a bit warmer though now it is raining quite a bit.

I had gotten behind so had no new doujinshi to sell, however I did sell all the doujinshi I had remaining and truly feel like a Geass circle now. Because I really have a place now with the Geass circles as their crazy foreign member Ill be signing up for SCC as a Geass circle. I'm also going to be signing up for day 2 as a Tenipuri circle.

The designs are easy and I had a story idea but when it comes down to it, I just HATE Hetalia and I can't sell out like that just in hopes of selling something. Plus if I don't do Hetalia I'm more likely to get company which is a major plus. Events get lonely and boring by yourself and it makes it hard to get sketches lol

I've not done much sightseeing yet, mostly tea shopping as the weather has not been cooperative. Tomorrow I head west to Hakone and Kyoto and it so better not rain. lol

I made SALES, YES multiple sales to multiple people! None of them were people I knew and I am getting closer to covering the cost of the event, and I am going through my first two little copyhons. And people said the doujinshi were cute, even people who didn't buy them. OMG I had sales and two circles exchanged info with me and now I need to apply for the next event and SCC.

The cosplayers were all amazing and there were sooooo many, mostly R2 based, no one in Ashford uniforms.

OMG I made sales, I feel like a real doujinshika now. OMG I made sales, I was out shopping at the time but a Gino cosplayer bought my doujinshi! OMG I made SALES

So I'm trying to apply for another doujinshi event, ~~wish me luck, this one is smaller and character only!~~ but due to some unforeseen circumstances *cough*ADOBEISEVIL*cough* I'm trying to use my tablet and Gimp!

The first 10 comments on this post get to request a sketch of a character of their choosing from me. No real people and it must be a character from a series I know, cause I don't have time to search the internet for reference pictures. ~~Because I want to have company on Sat and I have much gardening calling my name right now~~ In return, they have to post this in their journal, regardless of their artistic/writing ability. If you absolutely can't draw, you can offer drabbles or icons or something instead.

I actually sold a book to someone I do not know!!! A Japanese person bought my 2 copyhons and said they were cute!!!! OMG!!! I got my wish, someone who I did not know bought my books! ♥

I was also carded 4 times when buying over 18 books. 4x. I am so much over 18 this makes me laugh hard.

Even though I don't need to be at Big SIght until 8:45 I got up at 6 am thanks to Jet lag. Haru is HUGE this year. In 2007 it was just the 6 West Halls and this year it is the 6 West ones and the 2 East ones. O_O

I finished my copyhon yesterday at 4 pm and went to the photocopy place. FIrst, so much cheaper than the Kinkos near me. I know last time I printed all color but it was only 3 pages and the computer time cost a lot more in the US too! I think I was paying on average a $1 a minute. Plus the nice staff came and brought us everything. I was amused by the fact the other 4 people there were obviously also making copyhons too. I don't know what series, but thy were obviously doujinshi and I was like... WOW I am not the only slow one.

That is a resized and downgraded version of the cover. The text is a lot nicer on the actual cover.

The sign up date for SuperComicCity was February 13. ;;_;; I guess I am not going to be a part of the GinoSuza puchi. ;;_;; I am so sad. At least I am a part of Haru and the uke Suzaku puchi and I guess if I make it to Japan in May I can just stay at the Ariake and go super early.. or something.

I'll get over it I am sure, I just didn't expect to have missed it by so little. It's probably for the best. Ah well.

So does anyone know any good places where I can download, preferably for free a font that can handle kanji? (like real kanji, not a fake Asian-esque font) Or if I'm going to have to pay money one that is attractive or perhaps sort of fun? I've been downloading fonts in kana all afternoon after I realized that the problem with getting Japanese to show up in my CSS was that I set the font to something that can't handle kanji. Hahaha I'm such a moron sometimes.

I finally managed to make it through my backlog of entries and of course this is where I share that I am going back to Japan in March lol I'm pleased and excited to announce that I've gotten a space at Haru Comic City and with

ee970's help I've applied to be a part of the Suzaku uke puchi being hosted by Double Slash. I can only hope that the application went through correctly and that I am now a part of it. I'll have to check every so often to see if the list is updated and I am added lol I totally need to revamp my website and part of the problem is I really need to get better at drawing and coloring on the computer and I still sort of prefer doing things by hand. Ah well. This also means I need to work on the copyhons I am hoping to do for this event, I don't want to be doing everything at the last minute again and I want to try doing more postcards. It's really exciting the prospect of being part of something with all the circles whose books I've been collecting for the last 3 years. I also sent one circle a gift picture and that was very nerve wracking. I'm hoping to get some sort of acknowledgment, it just makes me so anxious lol It's funny, I don't feel nervous asking for a sketch but actually sharing something I drew is completely different. I really hope she likes the picture. I still have a lot of room for improvement but I'd like to think I am getting better at drawing Gino and Suzaku. I want to make myself a LJ icon of them based off my own art...

And going onto that.. since most circles really hate people using their art I plan to get rid of any fan-art LJ icons I have that I do not own the rights to and to (i.e. the pictures Ko drew specifically for me to use are not the same thing at all!) slowly get rid of any of my official art LJ icons as well.

In doll news, I totally need to take pictures of my current family, some characters have been re-worked and others sold. I'm considering selling my SD boy F-35 to change the character to another shell, he would come with FCS only wig and zouks, I would be asking $900+US shipping which is much less than it would cost to order a FCS from Sato new. He's on the jointed SD boy body and he has FCS only hands, I want to say the clasped ones.

First, huge apologies to my flist. I've been skimming at best for the last week and half to 2 weeks.

jusrecht I am going to read your fics, on the plane tomorrow. I'm going to have the page opened before I leave so I have access even without the internet. ^^;;

Everyone else, I am going to try to go back and leave comments when I can and will try to follow everyone's LJs from Japan. I feel awful about this, but yeah that is one reason I do every so often cut my flist, I just am awful at how I spend my time and like to get involved with big projects.

So to those who don't know, tomorrow I leave for Japan. Fortunately, I've already been confirmed for an upgrade to Business class from NY to SF, and hopefully I can get an upgrade from Japan >>;; SF tends to be stingy with upgrades but fortunately Osaka is not, so I am hoping on that flight I can get one. But at the very least, I get Business class to SF.

1) To not give myself 2 weeks to plan a trip to Japan, draw and visit with my sister and her girlfriend+see family. It will only end in stress.

2) To read more actual books.

3) To get back into going to the gym >>;;

5) To turn Strawberry-sorbet into a fan-art site.

6) To seriously work on sales!

I am much further along with my postcards but have hit a major snag in the fact my pencils have managed to make nasty smudges on my image and they will not erase off. And to make things more complicated the files need to be PhotoShop files and I do not own PhotoShop. And I am exhausted, and tomorrow I need to go into NYC with my Mom to take her to the Doctor's... gaaaaaaaah

Yesterday night started Channukah and I am hard at work on my postcards since they are due the 24th.

I think I am just going to do 2 different designs and they are both now lined, but I want to add some more characters and then of course they need to be colored. As anyone can tell you, one of the surest signs that you're doing OK is if the characters are actually identifiable. Now, of course with the addition of color it becomes easier to tell people apart but...

The first person to correctly identify all the Geass characters in the two lined post cards under the cut will win one of the postcards! Their choice :D

I'm completely addicted to "Wait Wait.. Don't Tell Me" on NPR and I'm not sure if it is a good thing or bad thing that I can download 10 free podcasts of it. I am very tempted to want to donate money since I really enjoy the show. How else would I have found out that in Australia, they've realized the "D-word" or drought has a "negative connotation" and so hence forth will be referred to as an unmoist period.

Answers to my exciting questionnaire will be posted soon, despite the lack of competitors.

I'm slowly getting back into going to the gym which is a good thing.

Since I was scanning some examples for someone else, I thought I would share some examples of doujinshi merchandise.

For those who don't know a lot of the bigger circles will make free items (usually post cards, bags, pads of paper, or clearfiles) if one buy's a circle's most recent doujinshi. There are also sometimes little laminated cards and other miscellaneous merchandise for sale by circles. I rather like these items because they're generally rather unique.

Please do not use any of the pictures taken of my merchandise without permission to make icons, etc.

Also if anyone is interested I've listed my L-Bi for sale as well as one of my Kuutas, some wings, a Demian head and I have feelers out on my Nagisa. So if anyone on my flist is interested, just let me know. :)

Good Thing: I finally made it through most of my LJ backlog and left some very belated comments.

Bad Thing: I've not worked on sales today of either the doll or doujinshi type.

Good Thing: I finally put away all my new Geass doujinshi that I've been collecting since July.

Bad Thing: This has increased the # of doujinshi I need to scan to sell >>;

Good Thing: I've gotten back into the habit of cooking and I've been making yummy healthy dinners based around CSA things.

Bad Thing: I've been doing a lot more dishes and it makes my skin all cracked and irritated ;;_;;

Good Thing: We now have a 32 inch flat screen LCD TV!

Bad Thing: Because our 19 inch TV from 1994 finally died >>;

Good Thing: I am now officially going to try making *MY* own doujinshi with ee970 to sell at Kansai Comic Market on 1/11!!!!!!

Expect longer post about cooking with possible recipes in the near future as well as a discussion on Violette Market perfumes (Anyone interested in some free samples? I suspect some of the ones I got are not for me.) and some art posts along with the long awaited Rachel's Birthday and Channukah wishlist meme thing! :D

Lots of people have posted about the election, and I don't really have anything much to add except I am sure Obama will work hard to get us that East Coast Volks Store he has been wishing for and now he is sure to get his own Sei-tenshi. /this is a joke

Interestingly enough Hawaii was the bluest state in the Union and Oklahoma was the reddest. ~~It even beat UTAH! OMG o_O;~~

I ought to write a fic about him and Yuutan and Yuki-kun, but instead I was working on something GinoSuza. >>;; Interestingly enough it was 10/19/03 I went to my first real character only type event, so it feels very full circle. ~~Though this one was scary more popular O_O~~

As I am still coming to terms with a life without Code Geass each week I decided to write up some reviews of recent doujinshi I bought. I do have a lot more books, but I figured this would be a god start. I'm not scanning inside pages and I do ask that people not use these cover scans for anything. I'm mostly sharing my thoughts on the books since it can be hard to decide whether or not to buy a book and since I own these already someone ought to share their thoughts. I am only sharing thoughts on books I don't regret buying. Please note I do not read Japanese but I can usually get the gist of the story decently well.

WAIIIIII my doujinshi came in the mail this morning! Nothing makes getting up before 8:00 am happy like getting doujinshi in the mail! <3

The majority of the doujinshi actually belong to

sumeragiskank or are the late prizes for the late contest for

area37 but there were 3 meant for me!!!!!!

Though I flipped through some of

sumeragiskank's cause she gave me permission and wow, I think I need to get into Reborn. Tsuna is so cute and I actually really like the art in one of them >>;

My books were: a RoloLulu which was sadly not as wrong as I had hoped, other than Rolo moaning "Nii-san" while doing Lelouch. There is some sort of serious plot involving Suzaku being at Ashford and tiny picture of 367. I can't decide if I will keep it. A supposedly SuzaLulu book by RocknDolless but like unless there is something in the text to make it SuzaLulu there really is no way to tell who tops in it. ^_^;; Also it totally looks like Milly is about to screw Suzaku at some point with Lelouch watching o_O;;; But even happier I got my overly expensive small RocknDolless GinoSuza book <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 It sells for a small fortune on Y!J still and I needed it cause GinoSuza and R-18!!!!! All I can say is, OMG I think it's actually cute happy consensual porny GinoSuza!!!!! I think it's not messed up and is how I see the pairing and they have sex 2x!! And just WAIIII So today when I feel more alert I am scanning!!!!!!!
