While checking out a seller on Y!J I want to try to buy a ticket for the evening Basara event from I found out on 12/5 there was a Geass seiyuu event in Japan... and Fukuyama Jun and Sakurai Takahiro and Yukana (and prob other but theirs are the only names I could read) were all there. I missed a Geass seiyuu event completely. I mean realistically I probably could not have gone to Japan (though OMG I would have been so close to 100K then) and like the ticket I saw sell for it went for like $500, but my heart is still breaking. At least I will see Hoshi in a Basara event! I just feel bad since Suzaku will always be my favorite Sakurai character and he's my second favorite seiyuu.
More decisions
Apr. 16th, 2009 05:53 pmI've discovered a JR East pass can be bought in Japan, which is a very happy thing since I don't really want to pay for Fed Ex shipping and have to wait around for the Fed Ex guy to come. I sort of feel like I have enough to do without that.
I also finally bought a new battery for my laptop, found out more on making Spinzaku street legal and managed to get in a nice walk.
I'm debating my missing two days of reservations. Originally I was thinking of staying in an onsen in Furusawa until I discovered it would take over an hour to get to Tsuruoka from there and the trains only run once every 2 hours o_O;;; So I think it is Sakata for me. Since I think sakura should be way done by then I am also now debating whether I would not prefer to just overnight in Yamagata the 2nd night. The places I found in Tsuruoka itself are smoking and the place in Yonohama, while it has a free bus to Yamagata is also 1 hour by not free bus from Tsuruoka. If I over night in Yamagata I can try to make it to Yonezawa where they are having their Uesugi Kenshin Festival, and possibly make it to an onsen there. I could also maybe go to Yamadera or take a bus trip up to Zao. It just also means I need to be back in Tsuruoka in time to catch a bus. But I don't know how long I am going to spend in Hagure-san.
Yonezawa is on the shink route back to Tokyo vs Zao which is the middle of nowhere. Yamadera is on some tiny barely used train line that eventually goes to Sendai. Decisions!
The other day I went to see the pain doctor with my mom, and at lunch there were crayons at the tables. Since we had two shades of brown and 1 green, I decided I may as well do a tiny bit of sketching. I eventually borrowed a few other colors from other tables.

Haru Comic CIty
Mar. 14th, 2009 05:34 pmEven though I don't need to be at Big SIght until 8:45 I got up at 6 am thanks to Jet lag. Haru is HUGE this year. In 2007 it was just the 6 West Halls and this year it is the 6 West ones and the 2 East ones. O_O
I finished my copyhon yesterday at 4 pm and went to the photocopy place. FIrst, so much cheaper than the Kinkos near me. I know last time I printed all color but it was only 3 pages and the computer time cost a lot more in the US too! I think I was paying on average a $1 a minute. Plus the nice staff came and brought us everything. I was amused by the fact the other 4 people there were obviously also making copyhons too. I don't know what series, but thy were obviously doujinshi and I was like... WOW I am not the only slow one.
That is a resized and downgraded version of the cover. The text is a lot nicer on the actual cover.

Feb. 21st, 2009 02:00 pmFirst, apologies to jusrecht I thought I had read your last Geass fic but I realize now I've not. I hope to get to it later this week end because Suzaku is still my big anime/manga love.
Speaking of Suzaku, i bought some of those new cute notebooks that came out for Geass at Animate. You actually get 2 per set and I of course bought Suzaku and Gino. Gino's consist of his calendar picture on one and the second says "Knight of the Three, Knight of the Six and Knight of the Seven" and shows that famous picture of him hitting on Suzaku. lol Suzaku's two consists of his calendar picture and a second one that says ZERO, shows lots of Zero masks and has him and Lelouch in their calendar outfits facing away from one another. A part of me is amused and wonders what the Lelouch one says now.
I have been reading up on Spin Farming. Spin farming involves turning small spaces of land into area to grow crops for fun and profit. At the moment, I'm looking at my parent's side yard since it has: good water, lots of sun, and nothing but weedy grass there right now. I could easily make it there every day and for breaks I can use the internet at my mom's XD;; The big thing is while I like planting seeds and weeding I am not quite so fond of prepping the soil ahead of time. I wonder if there is anything I can get to cheat to help me dig up the weedy grass.... I know the soil will need a lot of compost since it currently sucks and really that is the biggest part of growing things, decent soil! I also want to get a soil PH tester. I think it would come in handy. Spin is actually about making money so if all goes well I shall have a part time job as a farmer soon, lol Yeah I know sort of weird, but if I'm not going to do anything related to my education, why should it not be something where I can make my own hours and schedule and set my own pace. I will have to invest in some more sun hats and sun screen. Supposedly one can actually make 20-30k selling produce at Farmer's Markets and I have my eye set on one already. Plus I can sell handmade baked good along with veggies and well... I always wanted to sell things I've baked. And yes, I know it is a lot of work, but I also think it can be very rewarding. There is something wonderful about seeing things you've planted come up!
I also want to look into getting some of those tunnels so I can get the hardier greens through out winter.
My other farming thought is... I am looking into chickens. Now before you tell me how bad chickens smell that is because 1) generally that involves a lot of chickens and 2) they are generally confined to very close quarters. It seems if you clean their poop out once a week there shouldn't be a smell and chicken poop is of course a great fertilizer. And I would get eggs! I would have just hens, though sadly that means no chicks. Now of course the issues I am already thinking of 1) can you keep them in a coop outside over the winter without them freezing to death. I am thinking yes but I sort of need this confirmed. 2) what do I do with the chickens when they're too old to lay anymore... >>;; 3) what would the neighbors think? I'm thinking of trying to get them for my mother's yard first. I've been looking at a website all about having chickens in NYC. They also offer classes in canning *______* I know chicken coops are illegal in Boston, but they are allowed in NYC so hopefully they are legal here, I just need to start checking.

jusrecht I am going to read your fics, on the plane tomorrow. I'm going to have the page opened before I leave so I have access even without the internet. ^^;;
Everyone else, I am going to try to go back and leave comments when I can and will try to follow everyone's LJs from Japan. I feel awful about this, but yeah that is one reason I do every so often cut my flist, I just am awful at how I spend my time and like to get involved with big projects.
So to those who don't know, tomorrow I leave for Japan. Fortunately, I've already been confirmed for an upgrade to Business class from NY to SF, and hopefully I can get an upgrade from Japan >>;; SF tends to be stingy with upgrades but fortunately Osaka is not, so I am hoping on that flight I can get one. But at the very least, I get Business class to SF.

6) To seriously work on sales!

Exhaustion sets in
Dec. 23rd, 2008 02:38 amI am much further along with my postcards but have hit a major snag in the fact my pencils have managed to make nasty smudges on my image and they will not erase off. And to make things more complicated the files need to be PhotoShop files and I do not own PhotoShop. And I am exhausted, and tomorrow I need to go into NYC with my Mom to take her to the Doctor's... gaaaaaaaah

Yesterday night started Channukah and I am hard at work on my postcards since they are due the 24th.
I think I am just going to do 2 different designs and they are both now lined, but I want to add some more characters and then of course they need to be colored. As anyone can tell you, one of the surest signs that you're doing OK is if the characters are actually identifiable. Now, of course with the addition of color it becomes easier to tell people apart but...
The first person to correctly identify all the Geass characters in the two lined post cards under the cut will win one of the postcards! Their choice :D

Living with dryness
Dec. 15th, 2008 12:00 pmI'm completely addicted to "Wait Wait.. Don't Tell Me" on NPR and I'm not sure if it is a good thing or bad thing that I can download 10 free podcasts of it. I am very tempted to want to donate money since I really enjoy the show. How else would I have found out that in Australia, they've realized the "D-word" or drought has a "negative connotation" and so hence forth will be referred to as an unmoist period.

Keep the home fires burning
Dec. 13th, 2008 01:07 amI finally started work on my doujinshi and I just need to state now, SUZAKU'S HAIR IS EVIL!!!!! I'm so looking forward to drawing him in the mask and not having to deal with his hair. Though on the bright side by the time I am done with this I should be better at drawing Geass characters and I'll be set for drawing my new layout, my little copyhon and possibly postcards for the event. Also for the record Lelouch's hat is EVIL and not just because it is the Eye of Sauron and I wish everyone would stick to their Ashford uniforms or something easy to draw. I need to find some good pictures of the hat. If you have them please send them my way.

It made me feel sort of sad to wake up this morning to no new episode of Code Geass. It's odd, I had sworn not to download the raws since the subbed episodes would come out only 4-5 hours later but in the end my love for the characters and story had me downloading both. I wish I knew how to make AMVs. I'm still coming to terms with both the fact Geass has ended and the ending itself. It's sort of funny. Oddly, RPing a bit helps.
I also had a lovely idea for a fic and I had the start planned out in my head and with my cold I managed to lose it. Hopefully, I can figure out a tack to take since I'd like to write some more again.
I need to stop thinking "Who Am I?" is a Suzaku song and stop searching Japanese websites for amusing fan-art. >>;;
In other news, I have an awful cold and it is making me miserable. I lost my voice for a few days and now I'm just coughing and suffering from a runny nose. Meh. I have a ton of garlic to plant tomorrow and I really need to start on bulbs. I also want to order my hydrangea so they can come and I can get them in the ground before I leave for Japan. At least the weather is chilly so working on the garden is not unpleasant.
We're going to try to plant a cover crop this year but I'm not overly excited about it since the squirrels have been digging up seeds. I also seriously need to think about what needs to be done before I go to Japan. I know I want to look into getting a second battery since the one on my laptop only seems to last about an hour now ~.~

Doujinshi Reviews
Sep. 29th, 2008 11:04 pmAs I am still coming to terms with a life without Code Geass each week I decided to write up some reviews of recent doujinshi I bought. I do have a lot more books, but I figured this would be a god start. I'm not scanning inside pages and I do ask that people not use these cover scans for anything. I'm mostly sharing my thoughts on the books since it can be hard to decide whether or not to buy a book and since I own these already someone ought to share their thoughts. I am only sharing thoughts on books I don't regret buying. Please note I do not read Japanese but I can usually get the gist of the story decently well.

I'm leaving to catch my 6:30 am flight in 4-5 hours and I still have to pack and do some cleaning (and of course I am sitting on-line instead of doing either) On the bright side I got laundry in the machine and I've been thinking of what I want to wear. I suspect I will not be sleeping tonight but maybe that means I can sleep on my two flights and during my 4 hour layover in LAX ~.~
The gardeners came today and my yard looks so different! They cleaned up our poison ivy and all the weeds and bushes next to the garage so we now have tons of storage there! O_O I think we're going to use it for wood which would just be splendid to me.

Pruning and shearing..
Sep. 14th, 2008 12:24 pmI've been really behind on LJ. I like being able to read all the posts on my flist except some of the community ones so this is a problem for me. So... I've just done a major pruning and removed a bunch of people who post on a very regular basis and don't respond to my LJ posts. Please don't take this the wrong way, you're all interesting people in your own right, but if you're not interested in anything I am saying enough to respond I really just don't have the time to read your journals either. This is not a BNF-sort of fit.. I just like knowing the people I am friended to actually read what I say. ^^;; I hope you understand. If you'd like me to refriend you all you need to do is post to my LJ and let me know. If you're friended to me and I'm not friended to you, please let me know if you want me to friend you back and uhh why you friended me. ^^ I admit now, I'm not that interesting. I obsess about Japan, Geass, GinoSuza, dolls occasionally, doujinshi, gardening, and Japan, or did I say that already?
I will probably be pruning again just because I am going to UT where my internet is going to suck and to Japan not long after.
In other news, I'm a bit disheartened that no one on my flist seemed to be paying attention to the potential disaster facing Galveston and Houston, Texas. Perhaps because I lived in Houston for 1 miserable year. I couldn't stop reading the articles written and am thankful the worst case scenarios were averted despite the fact I think when someone is given a mandatory evacuation order they should EVACUATE. I have sooooo many new Geass doujinshi and so many I need to sell! ;;_;; I'm thinking of writing some reviews of some of my newest ones before I think about scanning them. I need to make a LJ to share doujinshi scans. *sighs*
I can't believe I go to UT on Tues and my in laws have bad internet and I NEED 24 ;;_;; I wonder if the Starbucks get decent download speeds for torrents >>;;
