This year I got my first official Mother's Day gift, a Kindle! I'm pretty excited though I admit right now with the "screen saver" type thing it has up it looks fake. lol I'm excited to change over some of my books to electronic format so they take up less space. I've had few books at my disposable since most of my current collection is living in boxes in my basement. :/ Plus if I ever do make it back to Japan, Kindle==best for planes. I like my old iPod but the battery just could not handle 14 hours of flying. It will be nice to have something the battery will last days on, not hours.

We've finally found a solid food Adina likes. So far we've tried: sweet potatoes, rice cereal, carrots and peas. And peas is our winner, she actually opens her mouth to eat them! I'm not sure if it is just because she is used to the solid concept now or what, but I will take what I can get because I want her eat solids so I can work on less pumping! I've moved from 4 to 3x a day but I really really really want to move to 2. I ought to be sharing some pictures of her but I need to edit them. Her hair is still light and her eyes are still gray and everyone says strangely enough she looks like me. I sort of hope that is true as she is lovely. And overall she has an amazingly sweet and lovely personality. She is currently leaning over a cushion and hiccuping.

I'm also going to my first doll meet in I don't know how long, possibly since the NY Doll Party thing last summer, which is just wow. I'm super excited because I will get to meet [livejournal.com profile] sephyelysian and her partner and show off my baby. Oh and bring my dolls too... Maybe I can even sell some of the doll things I don't want XD;;;

And OK I lied...

Don't blame me for cutting off the top of my sister's head, I didn't take the picture. I'm still heavy, but I think my face looks a little thinner and hopefully between someday weaning and trying to exercise more I can lose the rest of what I want! :D

Aww! Adina is adorable, but you look great too!

I hope you have a good time at the doll meet. And congrats on the Kindle!

Thanks though I am already a little disappointed that the cookbooks I want are not available on it. My husband was trying to sell me on how I could use the kindle while cooking. *sighs*

You're welcome to come to the meet even though I know you're not as into dolls now. It's in Hartford.

I need to post some cuter pictures of her, she was being adorable today and smiling at Cookie

Aw, that's really too bad about the cookbooks. But at least the Kindle will be useful for travel!

My next bunch of weekends are booked up, alas! May is always a busy time for us, what with Mother's Day, Daniel's Mom's birthday, Daniel's Dad's birthday, and the annual De-Mucking of the Pond.

I do hope you have a good time in Hartford, though! I need to visit Hartford more often... we generally only go to the city for doctor appointments, the annual yarn convention, and shopping at A Dong or Blue Back Square.

Yes, it will be great for travel and I bet I have other books I can trade out for kindle editions instead of books that take up huge amounts of space!

Oh wow, sounds like lots of week ends out for you! I'm trying to schedule more during the week since I like having week ends to relax when possible. (And work on sales)

I rarely go to Hartford and I've not been to a doll event in forever. I'm a little anxious, but it could also be a lot of fun. If Adina's tooth is in my then she won't be as fussy which will make it a lot more fun.

Heehee, that's too funny, I just got a Kindle, too. Aren't they great? ^___^

Have you tried any fruits with Adina? Mine both LOVED bananas mixed with rice cereal (and bananas by themselves even more!).

Hope your Mother's Day is a great one! <3

I don't know I've not had time to try mine out yet. >>; My husband spent a few hours dinking with it and trying to get the book he purchased for me to show up. :/

No we started with veggies. Next up is apples or pears. She is loving peas though. My husband is better with the spoon than me and actually got in the entire amount we separated out for her. We're not up to eating full jars by any stretch, but she is eating a lot more.

I hope you enjoy Mother's Day too! <3 (Secretly, I really just want a massage.)

Adina's such a cutie pie! And you look good too! ^_^ Happy Mother's Day!

Congrats on the Kindle! And glad Adina is now on some solids.

I was just looking through all my 'class' pictures from my last 10 years of volunteering with my first graders & the very first year at my current elementary school, I had forgetten one of my students was named Adina.

Thank you! What do you think, is the hair length better for me?

It is a relief to get her eating some solids because I really want to cut down on pumping. My dream is 2x a day though I have already moved down to 3x vs 4x. She does nurse sometimes now so I don't feel so bad.

Ohhhh wow, it's not a super common name. I've been very happy with it, I think it fits her.

I keep forgetting America has it on a different day! Nice Mother's Day gift, though. :-) I've been dependent on e-books for years, owing to lack of space, and they are just *so* convenient for travelling.

Yay for getting Adina started on solids! She does look like you, you know. There was a pic of you, Adina and your mom, and it was immediately obvious that the three of you were related. Not so much between you and Adina in the pic above, but I think maybe it's the eyes? (Edited because I've just realised this originally made it sound like I'm comparing your sister to your mom...)

Have a lovely Mother's Day!

When is Mother's Day in the UK? We're starting the celebration early because being a mother is super exciting for me. There is talk of a family brunch on Sunday and of course Saturday is the husband's birthday! (and a few days later it is my dad's)

Yeah there are a few pictures where the resemblance really stands out. This is a pretty recent picture from Saturday I think? I think my sister looks like me and my Mom 9and Adina) as well.

And yes I keep looking at my kindle and thinking, why am I not going to Japan again in the near future?!?!?

It was late this year, but most often it's in March. (I think it's the fourth Sunday of Lent or something...) I tend not to remember it until I see all the signs in the shops! Sounds like you have a nice weekend of celebrations coming up! Happy early birthday to Kennis and your dad. :-)

Oh wow, yeah that is different from here where it is always the 2nd Sunday in May. I feel like Mother's Day is even more important now as I look at my sleeping baby. lol (Who I am thankful is sleeping and not crying.)

I am super excited about this meet. I was watching the thread and then Emma mentioned she wanted to go to the both of us so it became an OUTING and that's even more fun. I am very excited to meet both you and Adina. And your dolls of course.

You both look gorgeous in that picture! ♥

*blush* Thanks! The picture is pretty accurate so I guess even if there were other women with babies at the meet up, I will be easy to recognize. XD;

I rarely make it to meets because with the baby going into NYC is a royal pain (and then needing somewhere to pump and yeah..) But this is so much more doable for me. It's only about 45-55 minutes away and I can always pump in the car on my way home. <<;
