new lj icon, but wait there is more!
Aug. 10th, 2006 12:47 pmHappy belated birthday to
cc_lemon, expect something in the mail.
So, for those who don't know I'm getting ready for another trip to Japan. I need to get a new digital camera, as the crack in my LCD has gotten larger. I think I want something with image stabilization, since I'm only so good at taking pictures.
muscatlove was telling me about her camera, but I'm not sure if it will do what I want. I also want my camera to be light and small, since carrying around a bulky large camera like my first digital one, I just won't do. If anyone wants to recommend something to me, please do. I want something easy to use and no more than $500.
I've also decided to quit my job. A lot of people have asked me, "Rachel, what will you do when you quit your job?" And to be honest, I already feel overwhelmed with everything I have to do. I have *TONS* of Takara dolls I want to sell, tons of anime items, and then I can start work cleaning and getting rid of everything else from my house I don't want. I'd also love to spend some time sewing.
For those who collect anime things, please be on the look out since I hope to update yamanote-line with some new items and lower prices and put a ton of things on ebay. I want to completely re-haul the site by giving it a new design, but I have beeen lazy. It is something I will work on though! I have a ultra hard to find Fujicest laminate made by Team Up/Tenpo and a Fujicest postcard from NightWave. Also lots of other weird and random items and I plan to majorly cut down on the amount of doujinshi I own.
BTW, look, new LJ icon! And it was drawn by me for those curious :)

Date: 2006-08-10 05:20 pm (UTC)The camera I got was like, $300. It's an Olympus and uses a li-on battery, which of course lasts much longer than AA batteries. Hm, don't remember the model number off the top of my head... C something zoom. .^^;; It's okay size. I mean, it's not hella thin, but it's not too thick either. (I think thin cameras are too hard to hold when taking pics.) It's 6.1MP, iirc.
*tries to find it* Ah, here, C-60 Zoom.

I got it last year. Might be cheaper now. You can probably find something better though. Oh ya, and the only thing that sucks is that to turn the camera on to take pics, you have to slide open the front part. Sometimes you can accidentally turn the camera off if you hit the cover and slide it the other way.

Date: 2006-08-10 11:36 pm (UTC)I currently have a thin camera and it shakes sometimes which is one reason I wanted image stabilization. lol

Date: 2006-08-10 05:30 pm (UTC)No kidding! It gets me when people say "Oh, you're not working?" I am working, just not outside the house! Especially when you own a place, there's always something that needs doing.
Are you going to be in Tokyo this time? If so, would you mind picking me up something from the Takarazuka shop? *bats eyes*

Date: 2006-08-10 11:38 pm (UTC)I am going to Tokyo for a few days, I've been spending more and more time in Kansai simply because my friends are there. If you give me very exact instructions on what you want, sure. :) The store is very easy to get to, and they take credit cards. lol
For GW, I will prob go to Tokyo for longer since there are 2 days for SCC and Dolpa then, and one of my friends in Kansai wants to go to Tokyo too!

Date: 2006-08-10 05:50 pm (UTC)I've got an older digital camera I'm no longer using. You're welcome to it if you'd like. It's not fancy but it takes great pictures.

Date: 2006-08-10 11:41 pm (UTC)I really want a new one, after having this one, I've grown to like having something small and light. My old one wasn't so bad, but it got so heavy, I found myself often leaving it at home. I ended up giving it to my sister.
It's just a pain because I have to research what will fit my needs. lol

Date: 2006-08-10 06:45 pm (UTC)I'd forget image stabilization and just get a lightweight portable tripod or monopod. Cameras with image stabilazation are generally larger and it doesn't work nearly as well as a tripod.

Date: 2006-08-10 11:43 pm (UTC)But i will definitely look at them one as well. :)

Date: 2006-08-10 11:23 pm (UTC)With the sheer amount of stuff you must have in your house by now, I'm not surprised you're overwhelmed by the prospect of working your way through it all. If quitting your job is what it takes, so be it. Have you broken the news to your dad yet?
(no subject)
Date: 2006-08-10 11:49 pm (UTC)I should take a picture at some point, it's scary!
I've sort of broken the news, it's a bit hard right now. But I think my mother has told him lol

Date: 2006-08-11 02:33 am (UTC)You know who'll buy your Blue Crest doujinshi if you ever have it up for sale! XD;; (Or possibly just anything with Ryoma on it. :D;)
(no subject)
Date: 2006-08-11 02:44 pm (UTC)And I will let you know if I have more MomoRyo for sale, at the moment I'm not sure but I really want to cut down the things I own, as I've reealized I want money for commissions to own YuuYuu fan-art >D )
(no subject)
Date: 2006-08-12 03:26 am (UTC)Yay~ Yeah, I know, and I'll be sure to check out all your stuff. ^_^ Hee, fanart is the best, totally worth it!

Date: 2006-08-12 04:27 pm (UTC)Well, I realized I love a crack pairing and I like them in really cracky forms, so it is probably best to sell some things to get what I really want. Plus it frees up space for future purchases XD;;;
(no subject)
Date: 2006-08-12 06:41 pm (UTC)Yeah, I totally understand that. NiRyo and RyoDan are hard to find (the latter of which I have NEVER seen) so... yeah~ Heck, even good MomoRyo is hard to find! So comissioning things is sometimes the way to go~!
(no subject)
Date: 2006-08-12 07:15 pm (UTC)I think I did once see RyomaxDan, but in general Dan just doesn't get a lot of doujinshi at all. I know Eda at one time owned SengokuxDan porn. lol
i have to see if my site is uptodate. Occasionally I get desperate for money and put things on eBay just to sell them. But seriously, if there is something in particular you want I might be able to find it in Japan :P While going with your mom is funb, hunting for doujinshi with your mom might not be *laughs*
No one does YagyuuxYuuta and it's my crack OTP. lol The closest I've come in an official doujinshi is a one shot panel of Yagyuu-sensei giving shota!Yuuta a shot. lol

Date: 2006-08-12 07:24 pm (UTC)Maan, yeah, poor Dan! He's just begging to be doujinshi bait, but alas, no love for him! D: I have, like, ONE RyoDan fanart pic. Maybe I should commision some of that! At least I have my friend Bucky who draws NiRyo for me~ <3
Hehe, yeah, I think if there is any doujinshi shopping it will *not* be in my mom's presence. XD; She might let my sister and I go alone, though, so that's promising! I'll definitely let you know. The only thing I really want from Japan at the moment is a Rikkai jersey, since I found *one* at a con *once* this year and bought it for a friend. But I don't know if that was an older one or if they're even still making them. :O
Aww, yeah~ <3 ::pets:: Ahaha, well, one shot panels are a start! Fanart definitely is a good plan, then!

Date: 2006-08-11 02:36 pm (UTC)I hope I didn't offend you by asking if you had anything planned after quitting your job. I was genuinely curious, as I've seen some people go directly from job to job, and I've seen other people aching to leave their job but unable to do so due to a lack of better opportunities.
Good luck with your future sales!
And don't forget to visit the Volks stores on Fridays, since that's their double-points day.

Date: 2006-08-11 02:42 pm (UTC)I wasn't offended at all! *waves hands* Actually, a few people have asked and I feel like it's the perfect lead in, to my announcing the fact I do not currently plan to seek more employment lol I might in the future, but right now I want a break.
Ohhhhh I had no idea Friday was souble points! *_* But I do nbow know that the 9th is the ae and i want to try for those damn yos. Fortunately it is my first day in Japan and I will be jet lagged so I can get there very early! lol
*hugs*
BTW what are your plans this week end?

Date: 2006-08-11 03:33 pm (UTC)Good luck with the AE!
Right now, I'm leaning towards staying at home this weekend to wait for the Custom House package. We've had trouble tracking down missed packages in the past (e.g. they took them to a different processing center rather than our local post-office, so we have to drive further to get them). I guess I should also practice driving around the condo area, too...

Date: 2006-08-11 03:56 pm (UTC)Cause a FCS doubled==LOTS of points, is it all branches are just one or two?
Thank you, I am going to try to go early even though it is lotto and maybe i will get a good number, for once. i am also tempted to ask my friends to try on-line. ^^;;;
ohhhh package <3
Driving is very unfun even if it is sort of important. I think I am now seeing my brother and his girlfriend and doing a short hike. Perhaps I will bring along Orihime and take some pictures of her. I like yo size, they're good travel size.
(no subject)
Date: 2006-08-11 04:29 pm (UTC)Happy shopping! and have fun hiking. Orihime should be a great size... big enough not to get lost, but small enough to be light and portable!

Date: 2006-08-11 11:29 pm (UTC)Yes, it is the thing I like best about the Isuka/Periel size. Incredibly portable but not impossible to take pictures of, which is the prob with PFs.
