I just had a post deleted from DoA for no apparent reason. o_O

thread

All I did was bump and say that I hope Marsh gets her head soon. People commiserate and bump other threads about people trying to get their paid for items from sellers and I didn't say anything nasty about the seller in question, just that I hope Marsh soon gets her head. O_o

EDIT: And now Gina's post has been deleted too o_O

o_O I guess all the posts deemed "unnecessary" in that thread were deleted.

I can understand how you feel, once when people outside the US asked to see photos of the LA one-offs and I put them up, my post was deleted. o__O

It just seems odd that is is that thread only.
this thread (http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45256&page=5) seems to have plenty of chatter in it. ^^;;

Neither Gina nor I said anything disparaging about the seller in question, we just hoped Marsh received her head. ^^;;;

And while this seller might be otherwise reliable, 3 weeks is a long time to wait for a finished item to be shipped. ^^;;;

I know what you mean. I believe it does state in the rules that you're not supposed to chat on feedback threads. I think the reason why your friend's thread is being especially monitored is because several mods are friends with the seller.

So that means it's O.K. for the seller to not send out an item and take someone's money. o_O;

I think it's sort of depressing if there really is a such a double standard as that. ^^;;

Let's hope that's not the case, I'm sure everyone is hoping the seller stops flaking out and sends your friend her head :\

But I definitely understand how a lot of people on the board don't want to report their bad dealings when it's a popular board member. I've been waiting on a dolly package for nearly a month now from a mod.. -__-

I bought an item from a very reliable seller on DoA. They offered to send it registered and I declined. Usually packages from them to me take about a week. I waited one week, then two, then three, then more. I guess I am sotr of naive at times, and figured it was lost in the mail. Fortunately, my story has a happy ending. 5 weeks later after giving up all hope, my items arrived and the post mark was 5 weeks old, so I was glad I hadn't posted anything.

But I just find it a bit unfair. I mean I can understand them not wanting people to badmouth an innocent person, but I think we should be allowed to offer support politely, and it seems unfair it is allowed on some threads and not others. ^^;;;

I think something ought to be done as it seems like there are bad transactions than there use to be. I confess, once someone pays me, I try to get out their item ASAP cause it is there.

I guess a lot of people never learned one of the lessons my Dad taught me about the importance in having respect and valuing yourself.

honestly... that's not the case at all. we just happened to be aware of this thread. I'm not even aware that "several of the mods" are friends with the seller. Honestly. I dont even know the seller at all. :( I'm sorry that you guys felt singled out, we weren't intending that. We're not on the side of the buyer or the seller.

Ummm well most of the threads with bad sellers also have chatter in them. ^^;;

Earlier, when my friend Rose had some issues, I posted in her thread to bump it by simply saying "I hope Rose gets her doll" as well.

I haven't said anything really negative about the seller in question, (about the worst is, "if I had waited 2 weeks for an item I had paid for, I too would be rather upset and I think most people would be.") because it's not my place, but I confess it is a bit disconcerting to have a post deleted within 5 minutes of posting it, when there are similar posts in other threads.

I don't know the seller or who her friends are. However, someone will feel singled out if umm they sort of are. ^^;; If one bad feedback thread is monitored so closely that within 5 minutes of a post, it is deleted, but other threads aren't even read at all. It makes one feel singled out.

I'm sure as mods you all know things we don't, but perhaps whoever deleted my post could have PMed me, or even better, PMed Marsh, to better explain things.

I am not saying you were the one who did this Aimee, or that you are involved in any way, as I don't think of the mods as a single monolithic presence. DoA has a lot of mods and it would be silly to expect them all to agree with one another all the time.

what I'm saying though, is, that because this thread was getting heated, it was being monitored. (ie that moderators get a "notice" when the thread recieves a post.). Other threads that you are talking about (I'm not aware of any specific ones) but unless we are aware of them, we wouldnt recieve notice of them, and thus wouldnt be monitoring it at close. If that makes sense, so it is simply because we are aware of the thread, and not becuase Marsh is somehow particular.

and we have been pming Marsh...

When I last spoke to Marsh, she was not in contact with any of the mods. This was also more than a day ago, since it is Passover, and I have been very busy with RL things that take precident. ^^;;

I'm really glad to know though that the mods and Marsh are all talking with one another now. :) I am sure it is likely to help the situation improve and hopefully everything will work out. Marsh will receive her head and the problems with the seller will prove to still be reliable.

Ahhhhhh, see non-mods do not necessarily know that is the procedure. I truly think a little more communication in this situation would have helped a lot. ^^;; I know I wouldn't have posted in my LJ if a mod had PMed me when my post was deleted. ^^;

BTW out of curiosity how does one report a thread which ought to be monitored in the future? There was a FCS thread a while ago that got a little out of hand. ^^;

The thing is that we just can't pm a person everytime we delete a post, we just don't have time to do that. I understand and appreciate what you are saying, though.

The report a post/thread feature is the little red and white triangle:
http://denofangels.com/forums/images/buttons/report.gif
It's right under a user's avatar when they post. If you think that a thread is going the wrong direction, then you can use that. It will notify _all_ the moderators of the thread, and we'll bring it up for discussion in the mod den if nessesary, and/or take action on the thread if we agree that it's a problem.

you can also use it to report things that aren't "bad" though, they could just be two threads in need of merging, or a thread that's in the wrong forum.

I do hope that Marsh gets her head, but we can't help with that. :(

I do understand that it is impossible to PM everyone when a post gets deleted, as I am sure that happens often enough. An earlier post of mine was deleted from this thread, but I could understand why, because it was in response to some off-topic and rather fiery remarks, and so it didn't bother me at all.

But in this particular case, it just was very disconcerting, as I have seen so many people make similar comments wishing someone well.

Thank you for the information on alerting mods to threads as well as advice on merging/moving threads. I appreciate it. :)

I also appreciate you taking the time to read my LJ and respond to comments. :)

Actually, only one mod is friends with the seller and she's staying out of the situation.

I had heard differently by Aie, but I know the reason now. ^^
