With a wood burning stove, one adds wood through a flap in the top. In our case it is a griddle so I guess technically we could cook pancakes on or stove or I've been to known to make quesedillas or in one huge accident last year, cook pizza until it erupted into flames >>; While loading wood I managed to hit something which caused the griddle to suddenly come crashing down.. on my arm. Burning hot heavy metal hitting one's arm is not a happy experience. Thankfully the burn could have been a lot worse. I rushed it under cold water repeated and now am putting burn cream on it, but it aches a little.

In happy news for my meme: カ16A!!!!!!!!!!!

To go along with that I'm still playing around with my trip to Japan. I want to do something other than fangirly, something I've preferably not done before and I also want to get some temple/shrine stamps for my new book. The problem, it is looking like I want to fly in and out of Osaka because it is cheapest and the fact that we are talking about Japan in January. lol

So along with the idea of trying to see if I can get into to see Saihoji in Kyoto...

It's already doing a lot better than the last burn and while it's larger it actually looked better from the start because I made sure to run it under cold water. It's just like this weird dent in my arm lol

I'm just hoping it doesn't scar. ;;_;;

ALOE VERA for the burn! Not only will it be *really* soothing, it will heal your arm more quickly.

The brand Lily of the Desert - 99% aloe vera gelly - is sold at Whole Foods; or you could find it at your local health food store. I heartily recommend it!

Osaka sounds awesome! Did you see that episode of Anthony Bourdain's 'No Reservations' where he eats his way thru all the different food stalls & cafes in Osaka?

I love Whole Foods. I could spend hours there if I didn't have to pay for parking when I drive there. >>; I'm using the burn stuff we bought the other day and it does seem to be helping. It's just frustrating.

Osaka is awesome! :D I can not imagine eating my way through Osaka though, it would take more than a year and I think it would leave me feeling sick lol Last trip I went to a great Indian place and I know an OK Mexican place there too. I like this one veggie place, and this chain called Pastel that serves pasta. There is also this amazing dessert crepe place lol

I need to book my hotels! >>;

Thanks, it was not hurting so much today until I took a shower, so I put more burn cream on it and another band aid and that is seeming to help. The lighter burn is doing a lot better and I think the larger burn is improving.

I am going to be a lot more careful from now on! In the end I was lucky since the burn could have been a lot worse.

Oh dear...you and burns just seem to be a natural OTP! Hope the pain eases off soon!

Hmm, well, I've gone for the safe option - can you ski? Because the way your luck goes sometimes, I can see a broken pinky or something in your future... That said, my brother learned to ski while he was living in Hokkaido, and he'd never done it before in his life, so it's certainly worth having a go as I imagine NY is not the best state for skiing in...

I know it does seem that way. The other one finally goes away and now I have this new one. Luckily the new ones seems to be healing well. Once I put burn cream on it, it hurts considerably less, which is something.

I went skiing once when I was 12 or 13 here in NY. And I did great coming down! I just managed to sprain my ankle going up the rope tow >>; But a broken pinky isn't so bad... I think. It just seems like it would be so much fun. I always wanted to go downhill skiing and despite visiting in-laws in Colorado, Boulder is hours away from the ski areas and oddly enough Tokyo is more convenient. Were lessons offered in English? >>; I'm looking at this one resort area about 70 minutes from Tokyo. It looks really nice!

NY has some actual mountains and skiing areas, we had the Winter Olympics many years ago, it's just not an area I've ever visited in the Winter. lol

Well, at least if you've done it before (even just once!) I guess you're probably safe enough to try again. (Be careful going up, though!) My brother was on a ski trip with friends, so I think they were teaching him, rather than an instructor. It certainly gave the family a shock when he told us about it later!

Ah, I just never associate NY with snow you can ski on - I tend to think of Colorado or Vermont, states like that!

Ah no, New York actually has some real mountains, our tallest is only about 5,000 but it's still not something to sneeze at. They're just 3-4 hours at least from where I live lol

I think it could be so interesting and different! Though sadly my family is convinced I am going to break a leg. ;;_;;

*hugs* Thank you for the candy! :D :D :D
