I am addicted to YuGiOh. Yes, I know the anime ended a few years ago and the manga ended even longer ago so I'm definitely slow on the uptake but I now love it. ;;_;;

It all started with [livejournal.com profile] sumeragiskank introducing me to Yu Gi Oh the Abridged series which is just hilarious whether you ever watched the subs/dubs or nothing before or had no interest in the series previously. My husband and I were laughing out loud at Marik's Evil Council 1 and 2. From watching the abridged I turned to AMVs and I found myself falling for one of the many pairings. I'm sure one doesn't have to puzzle it out to figure out what I ship. Then it was fan-fic and then I started watching some random subbed episodes and then from 197-220. I also discovered the big pile of Jumps in my house I had wanted to get rid of contain the final Dark Games Arc of YuGiOh as well as the last installment. and wow what a downer ending in a way Perhaps I will try to learn some Japanese/practice my hiragana/katakana by gong through them.

Now I need YuGiOh lj icons. ;;_;;

And next week Geass starts up and I can finally see if Season 2 is going to give me the SchniSuzu and GinoSuzu I am anticipating it will and I can see if I hate Rollo as much as I anticipate.

In other news, I saw 39 Steps. I had thought it was going to be a spoof musical, my mother had thought it was going to be a serious play, we were each half right. I spent the first 10 minutes waiting for someone to burst out to song and after no one did, quickly discovered my mistake. However the play was hilarious. I think I was most impressed by Man #1 and Man #2 who played most of the roles in the 39 Steps other than the main character Hannay and a few of the female parts. My favorite parts involved one of the chases in Scotland and Man #1 and Man #2 at the Inn.

We had planned to eat lunch at Blossom for lunch (Don't click on the link if you don't want to be assaulted by gosh awful sound effects from the website, for some god forsaken reason, Blossom is convinced people visiting their website want to hear elevator music with the steady hum of people chatting in the background and refuse to make it so you can TURN OFF THE SOUND ). However upon arriving there via cab I pointed out to my mother it looked awful dark. She waved away my fears only to discover it does not serve lunch. ~.~ Hungry, we walked to the Chelsea Market where we ended up at The Green Table. Specializing in Organic, local and yummy food. I was quite pleased. They might even had something my picky eater friends would eat since they seemed to go more for simple and down to earth. I had macaroni and cheese which was a treat since I can't remember that last time I had it. I also found out they get produce from one of the farms in our CSA. <3

I've decided since I'm not currently employed to go into NYC on Wednesday and see what I can get 1/2 price tickets to, assuming I am good and go to the gym on Mon and Tues like I should. >>; There are so many shows I would consider so I think it ought to be fun! :D

I've watched a bit of YuGiOh from time to time, but I'm terrible at understanding card-based RPGs so I never got into it so much. Sometimes it's cool how the fandom can draw you into a new show or manga--and sometimes make you stay away from it! I was kind of like that with Rosen Maiden at first, because of this creepy guy with his Shinku figure who went to ALL the doll events and NEVER spot to anyone. I was like:omg what kind of show is it?? But luckily [profile] purgatorix changed my mind about it. And the fact that Suigintou is the most gorgeous dolly ever. *swoons*

Oh, I sent you a PM a while ago about your hotel plans. Have you decided where you're staying in Tokyo?

Gah, I meant to write you back but my PMs have been a little weird lately and between YuGiOh and actually being out I've fallen behind. BTW congrats on getting your head!! <3

Actually, I have no understanding of the card game in either real life, manga, or anime, it's one reason the Abridged rocks, it mostly cuts out the card games. XD;;; You should try watching, it kills me.

I made a reservation for Tokyo awhile ago, I'm trying someplace called the Center Hotel. It's right near the Toei Nihombashi station and not too far from Tokyo Station. It seemed like a good location and the place is not so expensive, I hope it works out. >>;

Oh dear. I can see I'm going to have to watch the abridged version, aren't I? I loved the first series, because it was all dark and creepy and had Megumi Ogata, but I haven't seen much of the seasons that they actually licensed - just a few random subbed/dubbed eps, during which we were all convinced that whoever they'd cast as Yuugi really wanted to be a superhero who could fly.

Looking forward to more Code Geass, as it's probably going to be the only anime I watch for a while. I want to see how they can possibly top the dramatic impact of what happened to Euphie...

Hope you manage to get some tickets for things you want to see! ^_^

The Abridged isn't exactly dark and creepy, but it's laugh out loud funny. Towards the end of the other series it gets pretty dark though during the Egypt arc where characters die right and left.

The English dub guy does seem to want to be a superhero, at least in a podcast he did XD; The Japanese guy is some Johnnie's guy according to wikipedia (no, I'm not kidding lol) I of course like the Japanese seiyuu more, but the dub is easier to make fun of. XD;

I am just hoping I don't spend all of R2 praying for Rollo to die >>; He so better be Nannally or V.V.

I got lazy since I was bad and didn't go to the gym, but I did get my new Passport o_O

Yes, I am a horribly obsessive puzzle shipper, they're just so GAY! It's overwhelming. (Though I do enjoy the other big 3, Puppy, Tender WTF is up with *THAT* name, and Bronze ignoring the fact he's just a split personality vs and actual different person in there lol ) Have you seen the Abridged? You so must if you were ever hardcore. I about died when we got an episode of Zorc and Pals yesterday <3 I'm just start to dabble my toe into the fandom. I know I managed to only get the good crack from FMA and missed the insanity. Envy Lightbulb, goodtimes good times

BTW if you like Puzzle, let me know cause I suspect I will soon own some doujinshi for it <<;

Do you mean 22+23 or 24+25?? I'm so looking forward to Gino and whoring out Suzaku this season. :D I think I now own more Geass doujinshi than anyone else in the US ^_^;;;

Ohhhhhhhhh

I am glad you have 24+25 cause umm 23, yeah, some roller coaster ride you're in for XD;;

And nope, I meant scans lol I'm planning to buy myself some doujin when I am in Japan. In Japan, generally as a series gets older unless something is stupendous the doujinshi go down in price. I remember when I first bought PoT used everything was like 630 and the cheap ones were 420 and now pretty much everything is 210 cause it's totally out. XD;;; Though YuGiOh has a surprising strong fan following still in Japan, there is a Bakura/Malik/Ryou event on the 27th with 40 spaces and a large YuGiOh only one in June with 400 I think!

The Abridged gets all my love.

I sort of like all the dumb US fandom names, though it can get sort of hard for pairings I don't know well or leave me going o_O From what I've seen of doujin, my pairing seems to be written a lot Yugi/Surface or occasionally Dark Yugi/Yugi by the Japanese. No matter how you slice it, the pairing appeals to me a lot. :D I'm hoping to end up with some books, one of the circles with cute art is still doing books.

I think my biggest problem so far is people not getting that Marik and Malik would be pronounced and written the same in Japanese. XD; Yes, if you want to make them two different people it is much easier to alter the spelling to distinguish and the Japanese certainly draw Malik molesting his other self still. lol

You know I could see Mai/Anzu, that could be amusing. Ah YuGiOh, home of bondage collars, tight leather pants, and ambiguous sexuality XD;

In that one episode where Ryou in formally introduced I was seeing the Mai/Anzu possibilities XD;

What you don't like the names Tea, Joey, and Tristan? >D I started with CCS dub, so YuGiOh dub is just not as painful. Tea doesn't hold a candle to Madison :P (Seriously, that is the worst dub I know of still.)

And oh yes, the one prob is some things popular here were never popular in Japan and vice versa and some things are easier to find than others. The best example I can think of is while you can still find Yami no Matsuei doujinshi, the two biggest pairings in Japan were TatsuTsuzu and MuraTsuzu. In US fandom everyone wanted TsuzuHisoka. I actually prefer the former two pairings so it worked well for me. XD; And some series just never got a lot, X doujin sell high cause few people did doujinshi of it just like tracking down Loveless and Kingdom Hearts can be a challenge. If you are ever interested in the doujin hunt, I consider myself something of an expert now. lol Most doujinshi unless the circle and series are scarily popular sell for 1000 yen or less.

Yami/Yugi works for me XD; I just like the pairing. I'm amazed at how slashy they are, I never was into the idea of slashing Sai/Hikaru.

22-25 is a roller coaster and you might just want to keep watching. Plus the Access OP for 24+25 is actually GOOD! If you need the mp3s let me know XD; I love Geass, it's like X and Seed's wonky love child, what's not to love? XD;

Yeah, Lulu totally fucked up. Wait until you see 23, 24 and 25. :D

Todou either molests shota!Suzaku or has awful things done to him by Grown-Up Eriol Asahina or Diethardt. I think mostly I've seen Raksharta doing things to Kallen or Cecile. XD;

And Suzaku! Poor Suzaku!!! I had to wait like 2-3 months before 24+25 came out so you're actually lucky XD;;;

And Cornellia... poor Cornellia.

Lelouch is such an ass sometimes. >>;

The drama CD about Suzaku during this bit is so incredibly sad, it tears out your heart, let me know if you want it post 24+25

Personally, and not just cause I love the gay, I just don't see Euphie/Suzaku as romantic. I think Suzaku really can't see her as something other than a princess and I'm not even sure how much he loves her per se. especially considering he doesn't even seem to follow her dying request. On Euphie's part the love also doesn't seem so romantic, particularly as she compares it herself to her love for Lelouch. That and to me that whole love declaration thing came off more as Euphie wanting to show to Suzaku that she saw him as a valuable and worthwhile human being and he should not beating himself up already.

I'll up the drama book, it's short but just heavily emphasizes 1) how bad Suzaku's self esteem really is and 2) to me, it implies that his anger is heavily influenced by the fact he suspected the truth about Lelouch and did nothing and now Lelouch has seemingly killed Euphie just to get ahead. (I mean really if you were Suzaku would you believe Lelouch if he tried to claim he accidentally geass'ed Euphie just to show her has has magical powers?)

The Cornelia/Marianne flashback is both so sad and sweet and you just get this impression Cornelia totally worshiped Marianne and was just as heartbroken as Lelouch was by her death. I really love Cornelia, she's just such an awesome character.

Lelouch is such a douche, but I feel like he is getting saddled with Rollo next season so that's his punishment. >>;

BTW can I just say I watched Arthur save his uke like 3 or 4x in a row. XD;;; Seriously, anyone who thought Arthur hated Suzaku pre-24-25 has never owned a cat. lol

Gah, I meant to respond a long time ago but things have gotten so busy. ;;_;; Let's see..

I don't think even with time Euphie and Suzaku's relationship would have progressed because I don't think Suzaku would have allowed it. I think I am slowly falling more and more into GinoSuzu because its so incredibly cute and Gino seems to touch him all the time and wants to bring back Suzaku's smile lol

I've been thinking about Suzaku's perspective even more, particularly after 02. It's not just hard to believe it was an accident, it's the fact Lelouch then capitalizes on this accident to get himself ahead. I for one would ind it harder to believe it was an accident then. And I've realized unlike so man other people, it's not to me that Suzaku has lost the one person who thought he was a good person, his supposed best friend has just destroyed his most cherished dream. Suzaku's true goal more than anything else, is to change things from the inside so that Japan can have some modicum of freedom back. It is his overriding goal at all times. Euphie was creating a place for the Japanese and Britannains and to have your so-called best friend not only betray his sister but to then betray you like that by ruining it.. well I think most of us would be insane with anger at this point.

and again, I don't get why people though for so long Arthur hated Suzaku, lol Anyone with a cat knows, when a cat hates you it hides and hisses it doesn't bite you every second it gets. Arthur just wants to remind everyone that Suzaku is his.

And Here is the Drama CD (http://yamanote-line.net/geass/%5bgg%5d_Code_Geass_-_Picture_Book_23.95_%5b3FA61019%5d.mkv)

The translation sucks. I gave it to a friend of mine who is fluent in Japanese and said that some of it is really off. I don't have my copy of the more accurate version anymore ;;_;; It's still really sad and I think shows how upset Suzaku really is by Lelouch's betrayal of him.
