Doctor success!
Jan. 11th, 2008 10:49 pmThank you everyone for all the get well wishes!!!
So while I ranted on LJ, my husband looked into whether we had been assigned a new primary care physician when the old doctor went off the plan. I should note now, I did plan to switch doctors as this doctor is a 15 minute drive from where we live and I know there are lots of doctors closer since we're only 1 mile from a hospital. (maybe less than a mile) and it seems stupid to drive so far just to see a doctor I was meh on to start with. (The old doctor doesn't seem to get the concept that being on your insurance plan is important. I could understand wanting the best doctor no matter what for say.. major surgery, cancer treatments, etc. but when it comes to things like a possible broken nose or a finger infection then ummm no, you just want someone on your plan. ~.~) So according to the insurance person, our new plan doesn't require a primary care physician so we can just go to anyone on the plan. Putting our addy in the system we picked the general practionier closest to where we live. lol (about 1/2 mile away) I called up and he was taking new people and let me come in that afternoon! I was really surprised because he was really nice, the nurses/receptionists working for him had a sense of humor and everyone was just so friendly. Plus he said I looked relatively healthy other than my cough <3 He examined my ears and said it had not developed into a full ear infection yet. I sort of figured that since I was only feeling discomfort rather than kill me now pain. But since I knew the week end was coming up, I didn't want to wait until Sunday to be in major pain. Rather than put me on antibiotics, the doctor put me on a prescription decongestant. This also won points with me because I hate taking antibiotics unless absolutely necessary. So now I have a new doctor, on my plan and only 1/2 mile from my house! <3
The pills do seem to be helping as the pain in my ear has decreased markedly and I'm definitely coughing less now.
When my sister went into NYC yesterday she bought me two cupcakes from Elenis! Cupcakes <3
In other happy news I got my imps from
twotone. I'm so glad I got them before I ordered anything from Possets. So far I am liking Kate but Id has a weird sandalwood maybe overlaid with the chocolate that just makes it too perfumey and strong for me.
So... I'm thinking of going to Japan in February to attend a Geass event. Am I insane? Should I tell myself I can't go until I scan at least 200 doujinshi to sell? I'm also thinking of offering my buying services to pick up Geass doujinshi from the event. I need to think on it.

Date: 2008-01-12 05:04 am (UTC)For smaller ones I either pick up free papers regarding them at larger events or I go to circles websites and see what events they're attending. For example there was a 25 dealer Nannally event.
The one I want to attend is this one. (http://www.akaboo.jp/zenkoku-r/r2/index.html) It' about 800 dealers.
Most of the non-big sight ones also allow cosplay which makes them a lot of fun. They also generally have exclusive fanmade goods. I'm a sucker for fanmade goods. :D

Date: 2008-01-12 05:07 am (UTC)what kind of fanmade goods do you mean?
a friend of mine went to a couple sakura taisen events, (cosplay-centric) it was really fun for her. :)

Date: 2008-01-12 06:47 am (UTC)If a series is hugely popular all main character (and pairings) will get their own events.
I actually semi-discussed why I don't think there are the same sorts of events here as in Japan with some writers from Wired magazine. I need to find their cards and write them another email at some point. I think fear of copyright issues is a major obstacle.
As for fan goods... the most common items are: postcards, pins and laminates. At bigger events you can find, or at least I've seen for Geass or other series: clear files, fans, canvas bags, glasses, mugs, stamps, stuffed dolls, posters, stationary, fan-made video games, and even things like clocks.
At the last Geass event I got a TF sized Ashford uniform and a pair of acrylic 15mm geass eyes. Some of the above list of items I already own for Geass. I ought to take a picture of some of my doujinshi goods. I bought a set of Seed and Geass glasses at one of the events I went to. The Seed one has Asuran, Kira and Lux on it and the Geass one is Lulu, Suzaku, and CC.

thanks for telling me more about it!
my husband says to ask you why it's all boy love. :P (:) )

Date: 2008-01-12 06:12 pm (UTC)The outfit isn't as well made as I would like but it's cute. I'll try to get a picture of my chibi Lulu (Yo SD Shin) in his geass eyes.
And you're welcome, events are a lot of fun. ^_^
Events? They're not. I'm sure the Nannally event is not. lol (Now, it is likely to have LuluNannally incest...) I'm sure there will be CC/Lelouch events for Geass. I just happen to often prefer slash pairings.
Comiket is most definitely not all BL and neither is Comic City. (Same with the upcoming Zenkoku event) However Comic Cities and Zenkokus are geared towards females so the het is generally consensual. You also find gag. Feel free to ask any other questions you might have, I'm always happy to do my best to help/answer. ^_^
