So until I need to get moving, which is in about 20 minutes, I've decided to work on a LJ entry about Tokyo. Most of this will be old news to [livejournal.com profile] muscatlove but that is what comes from texting and being on AIM. :P Pictures will follow, at some point, I am just too lazy to edit.

Contrary to what was said on the Asiarooms website, my hotel most certainly did not have internet. And while something like that is OK for a single night, it REALLY sucks for 3. That and while the location was great for Doll Show, there really just isn't anything else to speak of in Hamamatsucho. I mean yeah, you can walk to Tokyo Tower, but it's not really a hot spot of restaurants and internet cafes. In fact, when asking about the internet I was referred by the hotel to Kinkos. ~.~

Fortunately, I decided to do a little research for my ficlet in the previous entry and try the Gran Cyber Cafe in Ikebukuro. XD;;

KAC had moved from its location from whence it had been when I went with [livejournal.com profile] kurokoon and [livejournal.com profile] sumeragiskank all those years ago. I hadn't really looked up how to go back there since, as I generally prefer used doujinshi rather than new doujinshi at higher than event prices. However, I was curious to see if Tokyo KAC had Copics at the same amazing low price as Osaka KAC. With a lot of help from poor [livejournal.com profile] muscatlove I did make it to KAC, but they were not having their sale. No matter, thanks to Animate, I now have a lot more colors. ^^;;;

Animate was also having a special where if you spent 3000 yen on Seed media, you got a "free" Shinn/Kira poster. As you mnight know, I thought I was rather lucky to be in Japan for this promotion (it ends the 18th) and could not resist. I feel like I went to K-books, Mandarake, and Kings Kings more times than I count while trying to track down some doujinshi, and I might possibly be right. I made the lovely discovery of a Fujicest doujinshi I actually didn't own, by a circle I mostly like as well as finding the new Jet Monster June book and a really cute old Jet Monster june book. Oddly enough the new one with the porn was the cheaper of the two.

I also accidentally bought some omake Loveless comics. I had thought they were just cute mini notebooks with pretty art on the cover, and for those who don't know, I love mini notebooks, but instead they were actual omake comics! Too lovely.

I found out there actually *IS* a NY Doughnut Plant in NYC! (there were photocopies of an article from the New York Times and the Daily News up at the store) I suspect the owner in NY is either vegetarian or kosher, because the sandwiches on offer there are also vegetarian. lol I felt so lucky, the special for the week I was in Tokyo was Arugula and Mushroom. And then, after buying 2 I was horrified to see they were slathered in mayonaise!!!!!!! GAH!!!!

I also availed myself of quite a few visits to Starbucks and realized I really really don't know how to do centimeters at all. This was painfully clear at Odakaya, where I was trying to buy some items without spending a small fortune.

I also finally own a copy of Harry Potter 06, which I spent the train trip flipping through. And wow, it's so much better than book 05, which I STILL can not finish lol After reading the ending, I think my father's belief that Harry is a Horocrux is somewhat misplaced. Though I stand by my firm belief that Dumbledore wants Snape to kill him and that is what he is saying "please" about. Speaking of HP, I found a HarryxSnape doujinshi with smut! hehehehe

Anyway, I am getting ready to go to Sato and Kyoto, so Doll Show will be in part 2.

And I will so have to read that. I need to remember to get the HP fics I like off my old harddrive so I can actually re-read them.

*lol* I'm the opposite - loved all the Weasley action and the House of Black and etc in 05, didn't much like 06.

Though I stand by my firm belief that Dumbledore wants Snape to kill him and that is what he is saying "please" about.

WORD. I'm no Snape fan, but I don't believe for a second that he's gone "eeeeviiiiiil".

Um. It's nice to hear about your trip! ^__^ Take care.

Actually, I found book 5 so boring I never even made it to the Weasley and House of Black action. ^^;;; I stopped about 50 pages in cause it was just so boring and was a chore to read. lol

With 06, I decided to be smart and have been skipping around lol Generally though, I like reading about Tom, as he is hot.

I try not to acknowledge the existence of HP5 since I was not happy about the fate of Sirius, though I loved all the stuff with the twins in the book. Their leaving scene just makes me tearful in a proud "That's my boys!" kind of way.

Fortunately, I decided to do a little research for my ficlet in the previous entry

See, this is what impresses me. I appreciate that most people writing fic set in Japan do not have the opportunity to get their facts straight, but some don't even try. You're actually making the effort. (Will comment on ficlet when I skip back to it - I did skim but I was half-asleep at the time, and kept thinking about 'Antique Bakery' instead.)

Sounds like you've got a good haul of things so far from the trip!

I am absolutely incredibly obsessive about things lol And yes, I do think sometimes fic writers are lazy because certain things, like geography, one could find on-line. I'll never forget the fic where Fuuma didn't know where Sunshine 60/Ikebukuro were. lol He'd have to be dumber than Hikaru to not know.

I personally always think Antique Bakery meets Love Mode #2 with a little sugar thrown in lol The AU has aspects of both, though I only read 1 volume of Antique Bakery.

I confess, I did buy an awful lot to sell. lol Need to have money for future trips to Japan :P
