I ought to be counting my blessings, no one was injured, no homes were destroyed, heck not even any cars looked smashed.

Last night between 10:20 and 10:30 p.m. enormous thunderstorms passed directly over my house. Rain came down in sheets, and came in through a side door into my basement. Thunder sounded noisily and lightening illuminated the yard like Akihabara at night. I was IMing to [livejournal.com profile] muscatlove that our lights were flickering when a horrible rending sound was heard and the house went dark.

At the end of my block 3 trees and 1 utility pole are currently still down. I've lost phone and electricity, with no idea when either will return. I took some pictures, but forgot my camera cable, but if my laptop has enough power, I will edit them tonight to share from work tomorrow. I have my doubts we are getting power back anytime soon. I want my internet damnit! I want lights! I really hope they can get something up soon. It's a bad sign that when I call my phone number all I get is a busy signal. I forgot my cell phone plug at home, so I have to hope my phone doesn't run out of power or I have no alarm to wake me in the morning.

We don't even have an estimate for how long it will take to get power back.

The crews came to start work at 8:00 pm last night and then left some time before I left for work this morning.

the roads are still closed, and it was amusing watching the camp buses that take short cuts through our street have to turn around. :P
