This space should be where I am fangirling about 24 or new Pocket Fairies or something but instead, it is time for me to whine about my least favorite Jewish holiday of the year.

I *HATE* Passover. I think every year it becomes more of a chore and more difficult. This year, is the first year I've been working full time when Passover came around since 1996. In '96, it didn't matter because Kennis hadn't converted yet, and it was a 1 bedroom apartment, so trying to clean it was no big deal. We'd also only JUST moved in. In past years, I've started to clean about a week before, and I tried to do one room a day. This year, in some sort of benevolent gesture, Kennis decided we could mostly let the upstairs stay a disaster. I did vacuum and scrub behind the bed, but that was more for me. Over the next few days I will slowly try to finish cleaning up there and get in some more cleaning, that way I can leave a temporarily clean house to go to Japan.

The problem is the rest of the house. We scrubbed the bathroom upstairs, I tossed the old bathrug, we cleaned the living room, did the entryway, worked on the dinningroom and the kitchen, and I have not been getting anywhere near enough sleep. This is the second day in a row I am trying to function on under 5 hours of sleep, and it's so hard. I just know I am going to give in and get myself a cup of coffee.

Tonight we are nearly done cleaning and Passover starts tomorrow, except we're not really done then. Wed night is a sedar, aka sitting around the dinner table with my family and anyone else they invited and doing a boring service for 45 minutes before we can eat. Thurs night it's a repeat, only worse, because *I* need to cook food for 10+ people AND sit through a boring service.

Then there is the rest of Passover 8 days of no leavened foods plus a whole score of other forbidden things. I find myself living on a diet of omlettes. I have also made a few big decisions regarding Passover. I am an adult now and while perhaps I kept it to some extent in college, I stopped worried about the issue of something being marked "kosher for Passover" and I am nearl to that stage now. My favorite fruit juice is just raspberries and apples, no water, no corn syrup just fruit. I am not Orthodox, why the hell do I need an Orthodox Rabbi to tell me it's OK to eat. This is ridiculous. This year, I am ignoring marks. Grrrrrr

Perhaps when I have had some sleep I will post something more coherent, i might even take doll pictures or talk about Japan, or work on a fic, or draw or... the possibilities are endless.
