Long post with no LJ cut :P
Usually, Christmas is one of those holidays that makes me extremely uncomfortable. On one hand, I love having an excuse to give friends something they really want. It makes me feel so wonderful to be able to do something small like that for someone. However, I also generally feel completely left out. It's not that I want a tree or a stocking or lights, I've had the chance to have those things, and truth be told I don't feel comfortable with them. But it doesn't make me feel any less like an outsider that I'm the only one not excited for Christmas.
This year, I'm spending Christmas in Japan, a country which eats "Christmas Cake", puts up lights, and then spends the day like any other day. Unlike say the Emperor's Birthday, one doesn't need to wonder if the banks will be open or make sure all the food shopping is done ahead of time. It's a truly secular Christmas turned into a romantic holiday to rival Valentine's Day. The actualization of my Barbie getting married under the Christmas tree as the ultimate romantic experience.
I'm spending Christmas waiting on line for Dolpa and then trying to get back to
yanchamonkey's. Yuuta-kun and Hiroshi-kun have been carefully packed up so they can have some romantic pictures taken at Dolpa. Christmas is a special time for them, and one of
muscatlove's and
yanchamonkey's gifts for me was for them.
Despite my excitement for Dolpa, it was hard getting on the train today to leave them. It's been nice, and wow, I am in awe of
muscatlove's apartment. It's gorgeous and has given me a lot of ideas on how I see the YuuYuu apartments. It also has possibly the best shower I have ever experienced in Japan with its only serious competition being the ANA Kyoto and ANA Hiroshima. Water pressure is a lovely thing, and the room is just large enough to get warm from the shower, but not so cramped that it's uncomfortable. I also learned that while expensive, a good bakery Christmas Cake is not to be missed. It's something like a strawberry shortcake except with birthday candles for Jesus. (I got to be Jesus and blow them out. ^o^)
In non-doll news, I love the Cause of Sensei, a Be-boy manga of short stories done by Matsumoto Temari of Kyou Kara Mao and Shinobo Kokoro fame. For those curious, yeah, she does seem to have something for age gap couples. lol
muscatlove summarized the first story, which was the entire reason I bought the volume. The main characters *LOOK* just like how I imagine Sensei-verse YuuYuu. One looks JUST like Yagyuu, and is of course the unnamed sensei. The unnamed student, whose age/school year is never given, could easily be Yuuta after growing his hair out even longer. I am too amused. It's like official YuuYuu and there is even some not overly graphic smut!! The plot is hilarious and revolves around the student thinking sensei looks really hot in his glasses and worrying about why sensei always removes them before they kiss. A happy ending with smut is had, and I only wish there were more parts to the story. (The next story appears to star TenTen as a sensei and his rather seme student)
OMG I am on the shinkansen between Kyoto and Nagoya and the amount of snow on the ground O_O I am in shock! It looks like 6-12 inches!! I wonder if Tokyo has snow now...
