Me+Katsucon=Snow?
Feb. 23rd, 2005 08:54 amFor those who didn't know, I went to Katsucon this week end, and amazingly enough managed to *NOT* get snowed in, despite the fact it did snow, again. I do have some digi-pictures but I am lazy and haven't gotten them off my camera yet cause I spent the day scanning.
Let's see... first,
muscatlove and I were being obsessive compulsive neat freaks in the room we shared. I am sure we drove our poor roommates insane. We weren't staying in the actual con hotels, but I'm sort of happy we weren't cause 1) quieter and 2) no elevator waits! *big hugs* to
muscatlove for making the reservation and for just being herseslf.
I got to meet in person
emilychan,
sailorstarsun,
chibihiku,
caffeineaddict,
konoha and
ladycosmos (I thought you were still in Japan ^^;; ) and definitely other people whose LJ names I don't know, lol. *waves to all of above*
I got to see
sumeragiskank, though we also spent a lot of time missing each other. Feel better soon!!!! *huge hugs*
I am (in)famous for running Penal-tea and it REALLY will get updated soon. I spent 5 hours scanning and editing doujinshi scans so I now have 30+ doujinshi to add to the for sale page and 10 new zips for Penal-tea. Truly! I'm also (in)famous for my rather passionate dislike of TezuFuji, lol Now, to become (in)famous for my even greater passionate dislike of Yuuta/Mizuki. *insert evil witch cackling here*
Amtrak stopped at various times for no good reason but had plugs for my laptop so I could spend the entire trip playing with my computer. Risk and watching the 2nd CCS movie were activities of choice. I adore RISK. I love naming the other players and then annihlating them. It is most amusing and a great stress relief.
Now con things...
I got a piece of YuuYuu fanart commissioned lol. Cause I adore YuuYuu and my art skills are the suck. I skipped all the video presentations cause 1) they were in another hotel and 2) they never said which episodes they were showing. I mean, 5 episodes of FMA are all well and good but not all are equally amusing and the schedule did not SAY which episodes were being shown. I missed all the panels I thought about attending cause they had crappy times. BTW SDs at an anime con, wow, that is all I have to say. I wonder how many of those SD people follow the groups on Yahoo.
I was clever and actually brought food, which was nice though there was a Starbucks! Caramel Frappucinos!!! I muchly enjoyed the Cosplay competition. I loved the Utena skit. I loved Mario golfing. There were some really talented people. I also went to karaoke which was a mix bag. My heart belongs to the 5 guys who did Initial D. They're antics made the whole karaoke viewing worth it. I of course also babbled to people and went to the dealer's room. Another highlight was seeing AkuAto cosplayers. Yes, AkutsuxAtobe, I kid you not! And they didn't even know about the AkuAto of RWT!!!!!!! *too amused*
I bought a really wrong smutty TezuRyo doujinshi. Yes, TezuRyo, even though I prefer RyoZuka. It's the wrong smutty circle that does NanjirohxRyoma and so I could not resist.
What else have I been doing? Well, I went to the Gates like around 4 million other people and even got a piece of fabric. Two words on my view of the Gates: "Fushimi Inari"
I am still attempting to draw a picture for Yuuta's birthday. I have some rough sketches but didn't have a decent picture of Yumiko with me. I shall do it by this week end though. *nods*
I am also testing word processors for my Mac. The hubby is on an Anti-Microsoft kick so I need something simple, easy, preferably cheap, and which works. So far the rejected pile includes Abiword and Open Office. I'm not sure Pages is what I want, and I am currently trying Mellel. So far, I like Mellel. It does all the things I need and it's $40.
And finally two links that I found amusing:
The Sommerville Gates (Make sure to read the viewers comments XD;;;
Fun with Peeps!

Date: 2005-02-24 01:54 am (UTC)I had so much fun meeting you! I've never been to a West Coast con, mostly I use to go to Shoujo-con which is now defunct, though I might try for Otakon this summer if I don't have to go to wedding. ^^;;

Date: 2005-02-24 02:06 am (UTC)Actually, I'll be studying Japanese in a bit here... but then I'm reading.
I got as far as Fuji's text message and am now tormenting myself with the suspense of how this will all end.
I'll comment again when I finish it all.
