It's funny, the 12th was such a disaster but the 13th proved rather lucky and for me the 14th is a good day since it's the day I assigned to Cookie as a birthday based on how old she was when we found her. (It's also my uncle's birthday but SHHHHHHH)

So first the car bill was not even close to 1k and Saturn was able to fix the car so that it could be driven home from work. I am still keeping track of repairs to know if the car is on decline, but I'd rather not have to worry about getting something new right this moment.

I finally booked my airfare to the wedding! I'm quite pleased since even though I have a connection in Chicago, I am getting to use the small airport only 30-45 minutes from here and the airport closer to where my brother lives. Plus the trip will give me enough miles to make Premier next year! I picked decent seats and I think I have the potential for free first class upgrades. Sadly, my husband does not, as his ticket was bought with frequent flier miles. I had a bit of a problem with the agent I talked to since she claimed all mileage tickets were completely booked on the flights I wanted, but I booked the flights I wanted without a hitch! I think she got confused because the cheaper award seats were of course long gone. Now I just need to do hotels (which my Mother is now being helpful with!) and order my dress! :D

Though quite expensive, I am completely in love with this dress! The price in dollars is from the original price in pounds and not the current. I would order it now, but I am attempting to guess my size. It's quite me and I can wear it for my shower and for the Jewish high holidays. Any advice on UK sizing would be appreciated now! In the US, I am between an 8 and a 10 in maternity depending on the company. It's so odd, I tend to wear smaller sizes as a pregnant woman than as a non-pregnant woman. It's sort of nice, and makes me think I should try to be a bit smaller post baby.

And while Gap Maternity was a bust on the 12th, my Mom came to visit yesterday and we headed to the mall and went to.... H&M (The old Navy near me as is usual, was awful. Some of the on-line stuff is cute, but what is carried in the actual store is just the pits!) But H&M... their maternity section is small but so cute and fashionable and it makes you feel like you can look cute and fashionable and be pregnant. I am sure you are all thinking, well Rachel, you're almost done with the pregnancy and this is true, but I imagine it is going to take me a while to get all the weight from my pregnancy off and with nursing my breasts are going to be staying huge. (and according to Lane Bryant, I am now a 36DDD or a 38DD) The prices are also so good at H&M, and I bought my first pair of jeans in years. They were just too cute. Though my dream is some cute maternity cords.

In other happy news, [livejournal.com profile] sumeragiskank has come to visit me, I got my new maternity pillow in the mail, and...... I NOW HAVE A PARASOL!!!!!!!!! (with so many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] dilettantka) It's not quite as girly as my original, but it is so wonderful and is a compact so I have fewer worries about it getting stolen or misplaced since I can keep it with me easier.

In less happy news, I am tempted by some BPAL weenies and I am sad Jester was discontinued before I could try it. >>;;;;

I was about to say I had an imp of Jester around here, but evidently it got traded off a while back. Great berry scent but faded into nothing in about 30 minutes, and usually berry scents last on me.

That dress is darling.

That's great news about the car! Repair bills really can add up. :-(

Unfortunately none of my friends who've gone through pregnancy have tried to buy anything remotely dressy - they're all just concerned with getting something they can wear for work, so basically trousers that fit. Last time I was in the US (7 years ago?) the clothes were about two sizes bigger than clothes in the UK, but I'm not sure how that works out for pregnancy since obviously your shape changes in various different ways. It's a cute dress; I just wish I could tell you whether or not you'll fit into it.

*hugs*

Would it be super expensive for you to call them and ask what a US maternity 10 might be >>; I've been thinking of calling them but haven't figured out what country information and such I need. I'm also of thinking of checking a few other UK sites to see if they have more advice. I adore the dress, and it looks like it is actually high quality! For normal wear I do H&M but they have nothing wedding appropriate, though quite a bit is work appropriate.

*hugs*

Awww it's OK about Jester I am sure at some point I can track down an imp to try and it's not as if I don't have tons of things to swap at this point. >>;

I'm still not really testing so much in fear of the puking. >>;

It's so me! I fell in love with it at full price and just didn't want to go there, but now it's on sale even. Overall, that website has the nicest fancy maternity wear dresses.

I could call, yes, but if you have a look under the 'contact us' section they do have an email address, so it might be better for you to contact them directly since you obviously know more about your figure?

Oh, I missed that, thank you for pointing it out. I confess, I am a bit slower than usual. I think though I am probably the 14 since I'm pretty sure I need a US 10 in a dress for my bust. I found another UK site which gave helpful inch measurements >>;I should also see what UK size my H&M things say since they tend to be cut small and I think have US and UK sizing info. >>;

Yes, I'm completely thrilled, I think now all I need to do is try to get my sandals fixed or find a pair to wear that is cute and comfy and not super $$$$$ in case my feet grow.

Oh what did you order? I so can't decant anything myself. I might just join a group order to give myself time to think. I am trying to tell myself I don't want October 2010 just because... October 2010 lol

No problem - you've got a better excuse than anyone else to be a bit distracted right now! I hope you're able to get that dress in a size that fits.

Yeah, I feel a bit like that too, Pumpkin Latte sounds so much like Pumpkin #5 form last year >>;

I wonder how different the release is from the promo.

You think so? I just love how pretty it is, it's so hard to find something pretty and maternity which is not strapless, have too deep a v-neck, spaghetti straps, or anything else which would make a bra rather difficult.

I just need to do hotels I am set! :D

So far we are having fun and the good streak is continuing. I'm debating buying Cookie some special food for her pseudo birthday.

It actually sort of reminds me of Volks and their frequent re-releases. Not that it bothers me re: either since I don't tend to buy oil or dolls in hopes of resale value. But I do feel a little burn out perfume-wise because it just seems like there is so much!

I need to go through what I have, but it's so hard to know what might set me off and my dream in life is to make it 2 weeks without puking.

British sizing for dresses is: US size 8 = UK size 10; US size 10 = UK size 12. I found the chart in my London guidebook. Sizing for tops or shoes is totally different.

In answer to your question earlier - Tuesdays are the only day I am regularly scheduled to work. I have that week already noted with your visit. Please let me know what day works for you. I hope to meet Kennis too. Will you guys have a car?

Hmmmmmm I really really hope that is not still the case or with Maternity it is different or something because then what I ordered is going to be swimming on me. ;;_;; I'm a maternity 10 and the websites I finally found giving sizes said a us 10 was a 14 UK. I ordered the 14-16 for one dresses thinking it was a 10-12 and the other dress in a 14 and a 16, hoping for a 10 and a 12. In the US I'm between a 6 and a 10 in maternity depending on how small the brand cuts. I'm a 8-10 w/the slender cut H&M and a 6-8 with the wide cut Old Navy.

Ohhhhhhh hmmmm we are renting a car and I doubt I will go anywhere without Kennis just cause I expect to be exhausted overwhelmed easily. My energy level has been dropping as the pregnancy goes. Would Wed dinner be possible? I am not sure how much energy we will have and long car trips makes me super car sick. >>;; I also have new dietary restrictions as I'm sensitive to more things now. ;;_;;

Yes, we could dinner on Wednesday. Are you going to be staying at the Disneyland hotels? We could have dinner somewhere in Downtown Disney. I'll probably head out to Orange County early just to 'hang out' -- I want to avoid evening rush hour.

If you would like to eat something like Japanese with vegetarian options - let me know & I'll research. I don't go to Orange County a lot, but I definitely know the area & restaurants, etc.

I use to like Japanese a lot, but right now I just can't be some place where fish is being served since it tends to have a strong odor. I was visiting my parents recently and my Dad had salmon and it completely killed my appetite and left me feeling awful. It took a little time outside to feel better.

And if all goes well, we arrive at noon at John Wayne airport on Wed. We're renting a car and then driving to Disney. Not sure if they will let us check in early, but if at all possible we will and then either nap or pool or get a light snack. I am not sure how much we will be eating on the plane and my last plane trip had some puking.

I was thinking Downtown Disney might be nice since we could walk there and I think there is free parking for a few hours.
