Aug. 14th, 2010

It's funny, the 12th was such a disaster but the 13th proved rather lucky and for me the 14th is a good day since it's the day I assigned to Cookie as a birthday based on how old she was when we found her. (It's also my uncle's birthday but SHHHHHHH)

So first the car bill was not even close to 1k and Saturn was able to fix the car so that it could be driven home from work. I am still keeping track of repairs to know if the car is on decline, but I'd rather not have to worry about getting something new right this moment.

I finally booked my airfare to the wedding! I'm quite pleased since even though I have a connection in Chicago, I am getting to use the small airport only 30-45 minutes from here and the airport closer to where my brother lives. Plus the trip will give me enough miles to make Premier next year! I picked decent seats and I think I have the potential for free first class upgrades. Sadly, my husband does not, as his ticket was bought with frequent flier miles. I had a bit of a problem with the agent I talked to since she claimed all mileage tickets were completely booked on the flights I wanted, but I booked the flights I wanted without a hitch! I think she got confused because the cheaper award seats were of course long gone. Now I just need to do hotels (which my Mother is now being helpful with!) and order my dress! :D

Though quite expensive, I am completely in love with this dress! The price in dollars is from the original price in pounds and not the current. I would order it now, but I am attempting to guess my size. It's quite me and I can wear it for my shower and for the Jewish high holidays. Any advice on UK sizing would be appreciated now! In the US, I am between an 8 and a 10 in maternity depending on the company. It's so odd, I tend to wear smaller sizes as a pregnant woman than as a non-pregnant woman. It's sort of nice, and makes me think I should try to be a bit smaller post baby.

And while Gap Maternity was a bust on the 12th, my Mom came to visit yesterday and we headed to the mall and went to.... H&M (The old Navy near me as is usual, was awful. Some of the on-line stuff is cute, but what is carried in the actual store is just the pits!) But H&M... their maternity section is small but so cute and fashionable and it makes you feel like you can look cute and fashionable and be pregnant. I am sure you are all thinking, well Rachel, you're almost done with the pregnancy and this is true, but I imagine it is going to take me a while to get all the weight from my pregnancy off and with nursing my breasts are going to be staying huge. (and according to Lane Bryant, I am now a 36DDD or a 38DD) The prices are also so good at H&M, and I bought my first pair of jeans in years. They were just too cute. Though my dream is some cute maternity cords.

In other happy news, [livejournal.com profile] sumeragiskank has come to visit me, I got my new maternity pillow in the mail, and...... I NOW HAVE A PARASOL!!!!!!!!! (with so many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] dilettantka) It's not quite as girly as my original, but it is so wonderful and is a compact so I have fewer worries about it getting stolen or misplaced since I can keep it with me easier.

In less happy news, I am tempted by some BPAL weenies and I am sad Jester was discontinued before I could try it. >>;;;;
