I am now officially going to Japan! :D I have to completely rethink my itinerary since the dates I wanted were not available on the airline I wanted and I realized that the 5th is a holiday and I'd rather be home with a certain sexy husband who I've been married to for 15 years as of today. :D
I'm going to Japan on Tuesday the 22nd arriving on Wednesday the 23rd. I'm coming back on Monday the 5th. Everything is in and out of Tokyo since that is always easiest with ANA. I've direct flights, they say I can't upgrade but we will see what is possible that day. ANA now has PLUGS for EVERY SEAT!!! I am hoping to get an aisle or bulkhead that day, since preggers and I have status. The fare was more than I wanted to pay, but not the ridiculous fares that JTB was quoting and it is summer.
Anyone who I offered to pick things up for in Japan, just remind me, since I am now officially going!

Date: 2010-06-11 04:57 pm (UTC)You'd mentioned perhaps picking up some manga for me? The ones I'm interested in are: Hotaru no Hikari ホタルノヒカリ #14 and #15 and Kaze Hikaru 風光る #26, #27 and #28.
If you happen to see any Kaze Hikaru doujinshi (particularly Saito/Sei), I might be interested! Don't know if the manga is that popular over there, though.

Date: 2010-06-11 05:06 pm (UTC)1) Do you care if they are new or lightly used? If I go to Mandarake they tend to carry used books and when you can find things they tend to be cheaper.
2) Who is the publisher/what Japanese anthology do they run in? (I'm assuming they are both shoujo?) Usually in Japan rather than being in alphabetical order, series are grouped by where they run/ran. (So all the Jump is together, all the Asuka, all the Hana to Yume, etc.)
If I spend a lot of time looking at doujinshi I will look, but really I'm getting to the point where there are a few books I want but I prefer to buy books because I feel like my friends made them and I like my friends. Shoujo in general gets very very books and het gets even less so.
And thanks! I'm super super happy, I feel so lucky that he was willing to marry me. :D

Date: 2010-06-11 05:40 pm (UTC)1) Lightly used is fine, although Kaze Hikaru #28 just came out, so that one would probably be new.
2) Publisher/magazine:
Hotaru no Hikari is published by Kodansha and I think runs in a josei publication called KC Kiss (that's what is on the binding!)
Kaze Hikaru is published by Shogakukan and is published under Flower Comics.
3) re: doujinshi--whatever is most convenient for you!
I appreciate this!

Date: 2010-06-11 05:44 pm (UTC)BTW if you have the ISBN for one of the books in the Hotaru no Hikari (Japanese ISBN) that might be helpful too. Flower I've heard of and is much easier to find.
And it's not a problem! I'm happy to help and when I get back I'll just see if I can pack everything in a flat rate so the shipping won't be too high or anything or we can talk about media mail. I do that a lot with my swap group.

Kaze Hikaru #26: 4091324800
Kaze Hikaru #27: 4091328067

And sure, we can work out a trade with the decants and such. I'll keep them set aside for you!

Date: 2010-06-11 05:09 pm (UTC)And damn, plugs in every seat. That is very awesome. I am sad Amtrak finally gets free wifi and of course it's only on the Acela.

Date: 2010-06-11 05:12 pm (UTC)I would pay for Wifi. I know on Amtrak I spend the trip surfing the web on my cell now <<;;;;;;;
Plugs are so so so so so amazing. For me it is one of the best amenities on a plane. lol I need to call up and set up special meals for myself.

Date: 2010-06-11 05:31 pm (UTC)I've never had issues with being delayed, so maybe I am just lucky. I am going to knock my fake wood desk now, hehe.
Plugs are awesome. I am glad you are getting one since that will make the flight go much faster. Maybe you can finally watched some wangsty Hoshi anime. It just gets gayer, since they made Ishida's character more important.

Date: 2010-06-11 05:41 pm (UTC)BTW, I now know best way to get up here via train, take the train to NYC, transfer to Grand Central and take the train to anything between Katonah and SouthEast. >>;
Yeah I want to download the rest of the episodes once I get my real laptop back, that and buy a Lady Gaga album so I can listen to Alejandro.

Date: 2010-06-12 01:56 am (UTC)And thanks, it's even nicer to celebrate our anniversary pregnant this year! :D Last year we were in CA for a wedding.
I'm looking forward to Dolpa and seeing you as well. I still feel awful about missing the Tokyo one. It'll also be Ryu-chan's first Dolpa which makes it even more exciting.

Date: 2010-06-12 02:00 am (UTC)I'm definitely going to be in Tokyo. So far I have plans to do some shopping, go to my favorite restaurants and I want to make day trips to Kamakura and Matsumoto. (Before eventually heading to Kyoto) I'm debating Comic City, I sort of don't really need any doujinshi but I am wondering if any of my circles friends will be there and I love the merchandise area! Cute hair clips and wallets for the win!
Stopping at cafes is a top priority for me, I don't have my normal amount of energy and need to eat every 3 hours or so.

Date: 2010-06-12 07:37 pm (UTC)I've been to some smaller Aeon malls elsewhere in Japan as well. >>;

Date: 2010-06-12 02:03 am (UTC)And I'm soooo happy, it's like anniversary, baby, tickets! and I think she is moving a lot more too which makes baby even more exciting!
Now to figure out hotels, the exchange rate sucks and I need someplace with actual decent beds since sometimes Ryuchan makes it hard to sleep ;;_;;

Date: 2010-06-14 03:12 pm (UTC)I hope Ryuchan will behave and let you fully enjoy your trip~ ^_~

Date: 2010-06-16 11:39 am (UTC)I am sure she will not completely behave, but it's OK. Though startling, I love feeling the weird sensations in my belly which I am pretty sure are her movements even when they keep me from sleeping.
