..it's ALIVE!!!
Jul. 24th, 2009 10:48 amFor those who don't know, I've fallen into Black Phoenix Alchemy Labs pretty hard and have lately been obsessing about various oils. And of course since I am an awful person, most of the ones I want seem to be hard to find lol I've gotten lucky with a few and now own some bottles i love as well as back-ups of some of my favorites. I'm waiting on some more bottles, some of which I expect to end up in the sale/swap pile ;;_;; Berry Moon is supposed to be musky and Stinky smells like baby powder, neither is appealing sounding. *sighs*
In other news, we've been getting lots of CSA produce which means I've been cooking a lot more. I think my husband appreciates it, because he gets a home cooked dinner most nights now.
The last pictures were from June 26, and it's hard to believe it's not even a month and so much has changed!

Let's start with the potatoes on July 6.

And the garlic

blueberries

Beets, soybeans and leafy greens (hmmmm this area has not changed as much in the last few weeks )

the ever slow cucumber
BTW for those curious, any impatiens you see, we did not plant this year. They spread and reseeded themselves from the year before! o_O; I need to take a lot of them out since they take over.

example

hydrangea waiting to be replanted. For the record, one of these is an infamous Tokyo Delight.

The hydrangea I planted a while ago. They were supposed to be blue....

More failing to be blue. I think I planted these in May '07? I thought they were destroyed but they came back.. except in pink.

The pea vines

Lots of peas! I need to plant our Fall peas.

Future butternut and another variety of zucchini. All the thin grass like things are scallions.

Black Beauty zucchini

arugula, the tomatoes and some sort of wild berry that I ended up taking out

Look, they're bigger!

And making tomatoes :D

beans, I think planted around the 26th o_O

Green beans ♥
On July 15:

The garlic and the potatoes.

our first garlic harvest BTW anyone who has any amount of land, would totally recommend they grow garlic!

Guess what this is!

Our newest fence

More of the squash patch and yes I bought marigolds, they're one of the few things I never have luck with ;;_;;

The Butternut squash

Pumpkin and zucchini. the small green things are radishes, i figure why worry about weeding when I can have radishes growing there! The other plants are Nasturtium.

A female zucchini flower, I think the one I fertilized with the help of a zucchini a few blocks away.

The arugula and the tomatoes

an oregano and an eggplant I bought >>;

hydrangea still === pink

The hydrangea that came with the house and were severely and poorly cut back last year by the gardeners from hell. ~.~

So pretty!

July 22

A male squash flower that will die a virgin

You should wait until Fall for arugula, it likes bright sun but doesn't like it very warm or it will bolt. ~.~ Our summer has been very cool and the arugula in the picture keeps trying to bolt but I won't let it. It grows very fast though. I would highly recommend it.

Date: 2009-07-25 12:21 am (UTC)A bunch of the reviews on the forum talked about it smelling like baby powder which is disappointing. What did you get the other day? I so want to go to a Trunk Show! Do you know if they are having one for the August 23rd release?
Sometimes I know what notes work on me, but it is also what notes I like the smell of and work on me. I amp cassis and cinnamon, a lot, which is good, mostly. I also amped the herbs in Punkie Night so I got very little to no apple at all. ;;_;; I love Midway Resurrected the sugar scent has lasted decently, though not as well as 2008 Sugar Skull. One problem is sometimes it can be hard to test scents before they leave and sometimes similar scents can work and not wrong.
You're so lucky you can go to events and test things! I wish I could!
There are some lovely scents coming out. I'm really excited. :D

Date: 2009-07-25 02:45 pm (UTC)I didn't know that you liked BPAL! I adore them! Just got my Berry Moon in yesterday--I haven't ordered a lunacy since Peony Moon a few years ago, but Berry Moon sounded interesting. Am going to try it on today, will make post about it later. Also got bottles of Glasgow and New Orleans with this order.
Other favorites are London, Vinland (now discontinued) and Catherine.
I almost got the Berry Moon tshirt (the design was so pretty), but I've kinda put myself on a moratorium for clothes (except thrift-shop) until my weight stabilizes. Although I still may order the 13 shirt because it really goes well for Halloween...

Date: 2009-07-25 03:16 pm (UTC)I have a lot of imps. I've been frimping the ones I don't like when I can. Luckily a bunch of people I know like scents that I don't like lol
Have you tried any of the shunga scents? I love one of them, but the other 2 I tried just made me feel queasy ;;_;;
