This is the garden of make believe..
Jul. 5th, 2009 10:17 pmFirst... Happy Birthday to
kellyhime!
Second.. Basara 11+12 were finally subbed and I am not sure which attack filled me with more glee, Date's "War Dance" or Sanada's "Wings of Suzaku" Also Koujirou x Akechi would be so hot. XD;;;
Third... it seems woodchucks do not like basil. Everything else has been munched on in the last week except the basil.
Fourth...

The tiny Cilantro that either reseeded itself or survived the winter. (From right before the reunion)

Winter Density Lettuce that survived Winter (From right before the reunion)

Swiss Chard that survived the Winter (From right before the reunion)

The peas I planted right before I left for Japan

More of the peas as well as the radishes planted at the same time as the peas and Scarlet Runner Beans

And the green beans and first crop of arugula (and I think some carrots and fennel)

This is a blueberry flower

And this is a blueberry bush as well as garlic. (Yes those huge green things are garlic)

And potatoes

The garlic on June 1st

The potatoes on June 1st

Peas, spinach, carrots and runner beans on the 1st

green beans, onions, arugula, and fennel on the 1st and I think chard

Cauliflower that survived the Winter and the chard that survived the Winter

Our tiny tomatoes started from Seed on 6/1

The peas 2 weeks later o_O

Spinach and carrots and the place the radishes once were (they were eaten)

The Scarlet Runner beans, the flowers are so pretty!

Green beans, Swiss Chard, Fennel, Onions and Arugula

Green bean flower

Scarlet Runner bean Flower, it needs to be pollinated by hand or by a bee, vs. green beans and peas are self pollinating.

The garlic on June 25

The tomatoes on the 25th

Lots of veggies on the 25th

Lettuce, edamame, and impatiens that either survived the Winter or more likely re-seeded themselves o_O

Date: 2009-07-06 02:23 am (UTC)I am now the proud owner of a little basil plant and a rosemary plant, which Mom gave me today. The basil looks a bit stressed. We're going to re-pot them. Pics after I do that.

Date: 2009-07-06 02:26 am (UTC)I need to get some more pictures it is amazing how much has already changed. I harvested my first 1 1/4 pounds of green beans and my first bulb of garlic. The peas are also full of pea pods!
But congrats! I love basil and rosemary ♥ Herbs are so much fun!

Date: 2009-07-06 02:30 am (UTC)Yes, that is peas, they're delicious but need support. I needed a taller fence like the ones I have on order.
YES and it does not help that it is HOSHI shouting the "Wings of Suzaku!" XD;;;;

Date: 2009-07-06 02:33 am (UTC)Is there any way you can plant the basil so that it acts as protective anti-woodchuck barrier?

Date: 2009-07-06 02:37 am (UTC)No, the woodchucks ignore the basil, but it doesn't keep them from eating things. The pepper plant and watermelon near the basil were happily munched. But I am thinking of planting more basil and trying some other spices, like Shiso! :D
and we are hoping the fence works, that and I want to buy some rags and amonia.(no subject)
Date: 2009-07-06 03:30 am (UTC)Your garden looks fabulous! I'm so impressed that you've gotten your cauliflower to bear. When I had a garden, I couldn't get my broccoli or cauliflower to do anything but grow leaves.^^;

Date: 2009-07-06 01:39 pm (UTC)And you're welcome! :)
I once had problems with a zucchini that refused to produce female flowers, but hopefully this year I get both!
How wonderful your garden is!
Date: 2009-07-06 04:40 am (UTC)Could you put chicken wire around edges?
Re: How wonderful your garden is!
Date: 2009-07-06 01:40 pm (UTC)I put up a huge fence. It reminds to be seen if it has helped. I am soon going to try amonia and rags and some pinwheels.

Date: 2009-07-06 01:41 pm (UTC)I need to check on the weather so that I pull up some of the garlic soon. And I ought to take some more pictures of what it looks like now.

Date: 2009-07-07 12:10 am (UTC)I'm also impressed that your garden is in your front yard! I take it that having other people possibly harvest is not a problem?

Date: 2009-07-08 01:12 pm (UTC)and rainAnd I don't know I bet there is something you could grow so long as you don't have watering restrictions.So far it's not been a problem.. I think part of it is a lot of vegetables are not things people just want to steal lol How many people want to steal fennel? In the future we're hoping to put in a green house in the back and to put in some dwarf fruit trees.
