Let's Get Dangerous
Apr. 20th, 2004 01:00 pmSo.....
For those curious, I survived the baby shower thanks to the magic of mimosas! In some respects the shower was even worse than I expected. The couple is Italian, so I had naturally assumed the shower would be held in an Italian Restaurant, but nooooooo it was Irish. Now, I have nothing against Irish food, except it's not known for it's vegetarian options and I am a vegetarian. We're at the shower, nothing on the menu is vegetarian, we come 30 minutes late and the mother-to-be isn't there yet. No one talks to us and they move as far away from us as possible and the only thing that made it tolerable were the mimosas. *sighs* At least it is over...
In other news...
My darling husband has put his foot down. I was mentioning to him that several people requested I look for things in Japan and after the mishap from the last time, he has declared this unacceptable. As he so rightly pointed out, I am paying for my airfare, food, transportation etc. so....
*ANYONE* who wants me to buy them something in Japan, and this includes all anime and all doll people, I'm going to have to charge a commission to buy things. If you're still interested in me buying you something after learning this, please drop me an email (peach-fanta(at)penal-tea.net) or respond to this LJ post. He set the rates at $2 per item or 20% whichever is greater. (Many things, i.e. doujinshi, are MUCH cheaper in Japan.) I would carry all the items home from Japan and then mail them to you. (Unless you want really bulky things, i.e. dolls) I am going to Doll Show 12. I'm happy to look for things specifically for other people. I will *NOT* buy certain things that go against my sense of morals and anyone reading this LJ should know what those things are by now... If you have bought things from me before, I will not need deposit. If you have not... we can work out how a deposit will work. I'm sorry about doing this, but well, it does get expensive going to Japan...

Date: 2004-04-20 08:12 pm (UTC)If I see a Yuuta plushie, you will hear me shrieking in joy... I still have hopes that they might make one at some point since they made the Yuuta Chibis....
Oh well...

Date: 2004-04-20 08:23 pm (UTC)And yes. We need Yuuta plushies. Because not having them is just wrong.
Did I tell you that I have a sticker of chibi-Yuta in his pajamas? He is so. ADORABLE. ^____^

Date: 2004-04-21 12:02 pm (UTC)I'm really hoping this means we get a plushie at some point.... cause that would just be too wonderful, and besides I only have the one Ko made for me and the other Fujis are getting restless and now Keigo wants a Yuuta plushie as well ^^;;;

Date: 2004-04-20 08:14 pm (UTC)I just wanted people to let me know to make sure people still wanted things... I feel bad asking for a commission but if I want to keep going to Japan I sort of have to listen to the husband on this. *laughs*

Date: 2004-04-20 08:18 pm (UTC)Here is a list (http://dollshow.hp.infoseek.co.jp/ds12odl.html) of dealers who will be at the show. Sometimes they are nice and put up what they are selling ahead of time. If you're curious I can tell you what I've paid for outfits by various designers to give you some idea. I'm rather fond of Modern Tulip and Baby Blue Eyes. Popular designers sell out VERY quickly.

Date: 2004-04-20 08:37 pm (UTC)I was especially interested in Modern Tulip, but they haven't updated their website in a while. I did just put in a preorder with DHS for some WTG pieces, so it's probably for the best. Of course, if you buy too many things for yourself and need to sell a few, let me know ^_~

Date: 2004-04-21 12:14 pm (UTC)I know Modern Tulip just updated with some male outfits recently. I think most of their separates are around 1300 yen earch with jackets being more like 2100 yen. They're REALLY nice. I'm very fond of Raspberry Angel also for modern separates.
I really like the WTG line. I think the pieces are very high quality for the price. I bought quite a few separates when I was in Japan last time. Some things don't wear quite as cute as in the pictures and others are even cuter. (I adore a pair of khaki pants and top I bought...)

Date: 2004-04-21 07:01 pm (UTC)I'm in quite a bit of awe of those who can sew. I'm also rather fond of some of those victorian/antique style dresses and those are a royal pain to try and make.

Date: 2004-04-25 06:33 pm (UTC)Your husband's right about you should be charging commission. ::nod:: You go through a lot of trouble for people; you deserve a little something back. .^_^
So yeah...that. .^^ And...you know...if you happen to accidently purchase some Tezuka/Atobe doujinshi, I could probably help relieve you of it. =3
::smooch!::
