I was completely upset because the city confirmed that it was the neighbors who turned us in and there is some dumbass law about walls of any height needing to be certain distances from the street and the edges of the property so now we need to see if we can get a variance, blargh. However I have decided if we have to take down our bricks and because we can not keep them I am so switching to plastic and rubber and even it is uglier the neighbors can do nothing then, hah! I will just be annoyed because of all the money and planting time I lost.

but but but... I tried out my scooter!!!!!!!!!!

Technically, it needs to be registered with the State of New York first, but I figure I can tool around my neighborhood and break it in first. :D I'm also getting a real helmet and I think I'm going to try to take a motorcycle class. For those who don't know, mine is a Zapino which is a brand of small electric scooter. It can go like 30 mph but I've not gone above 20 mph yet. It's electric so it uses no gas at all and has storage places for groceries, though now I wish I could get a real basket for the back like they have in Japan.

So first... help me name my new scooter!

You should possibly think about one for you! Mine can go about 30 miles on a charge but they hope to in the future have batteries that can do 60. (or go for a gasoline powered one like a Vespa, it still gets even better mileage than a Prius)

The Zapinos come in great colors! :D I only wish I could take it to visit you but it's limit is about 30 miles and 30-45 mph and right now going 20 is about as fast as I will go lol

Why didn't the neighbors complain while you were building the walls. the builders must have know what they were doing and got the proper permits. The front looks really nice to me.

Well that's the brand lol Yes, it's electric. So it's quite quiet and it goes about 30 miles per charge. I've not even come close to running it down yet though since I've just done some tooling around the neighborhood.

I'm hoping when I get back from CA it will be registered in NY so I can get it officially licensed.

I think they complained as soon as they could. I don't think we got permits since I had no idea you would need them for 11 inch walls for a garden bed. ^_^;

If worse comes to worse they get the ugly plastic.

It's incredibly fun to ride, do people use them a lot where you are? (not this brand per se but scooters in general?) I still like bicycling but sometimes if you want to go more like 7+ miles or carry more back with you, it's nice to have something else. >>;

We had a poorly tended lawn at one point and they complained about that. I think they're just whiners but we have a new possible tact to take and even if we lose with the city, they're going to get plastic boxes and there will be nothing they can do then! hah!

Heheheh theme song!!! is it true in Japan they have horns that play tunes??? I was actually surprised, I hit the horn the other day accidentally and it was surprisingly loud! o_O;;

OH and my husband told me they SELL NEON LIGHTS for bicycles!!!!! So maybe I can trick out my scooter! It's Suzaku after Brooklyn takes him clothes shopping! <3 Though a part of me is tempted to name the scooter now Gino XD;

Nooooo I thought it might be the Ryutsu Center since the one I went to under this banner was there in Oct 07, but I'm pretty sure it says "Biigu Saito" unless my Japanese is totally sucking worse than usual. I think admission is like 800 yen and for 500 yen more you can take piccies of cosplayers. lol

When I think of horns that play tunes, I think of Mexico... I have never heard a horn in japan that didn't just do "beep." Trucks have blinkers that talk, though.

...I think that naming the scooter Gino could be genius.

This is true. Mine beeps incredibly loudly when I make turns, it's awesome! The scooter itself is super quiet because it is electric, but the second I make a turn you get a loud "BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP" XD;

I hit the horn the other day and it was quiet loud, possibly louder than my car. >>;

I have been playing with the idea.. I might like Suzaku more, but well Gino seems so right, more so than Tristan. XD;

My one neighbor on one side actually owns a motorcycle he takes out on week ends sometimes. XD;; The neighbors that cause problems are technically the little old people across the street from us. They have way too much time on their hands and like to make trouble. They've had a war going with another neighbor over grass for years.

The electric is awesome, it's super quiet. I do have a horn! It's noisy for such a tiny thing. XD; But hmmm musical horn... I wonder if I should pick one up next trip to Japan, do you get a choice in tunes? >>;
