Today, I got to see my brother for lunch for the first time in months as well as got to bake my unfinished cookies at my mother's house. Post lunch we went to the liquor store for me to get some kosher wine. While shopping, I overheard the store playing Thnks fr th mmrs that Fall Out Boy song I am utterly addicted to and asked my mom if she knew it. She didn't and I handed the cashier my $5 bottle of Manishevitz and was shocked to be asked for my ID. At first, I thought I had to be hearing things. But no, she wanted to see my ID and I had the best laugh I've had in days.

Whenever it rains a lot or I water the plants in Box A a nasty white mold or mildew starts growing on the soil. I am really not amused, that and the fact the tomatoes in that box are doing horrible. I'm also having absolutely no luck with the peppers. I am really tempted on Sunday when I work on the impatiens planting some pepper seeds in little containers to see if I have better luck that way. I have 3 out of 8 British Wonder Peas, though they're growing much slower than the Sugar Snaps. I think they're getting too much sun. I planted 4 new ones the other day, but we shall see how they do. The eggplant is doing very little but to make up for that the first zucchini is growing like a weed. <3 I think zucchini is my new favorite plant.

I finished the The Tipping Point and I'm so looking forward to Blink such perfect gym books.

Guess what book I've been reading today... If you guessed Harry Potter, you would be wrong. I spent the day with Mr. Gladwell reading Blink. I must confess as of having read most of books 1-6 of Harry Potter, I'd take Blink over any of the books in well a blink XP My husband on the other hand has been reading my copy all afternoon. He refuses to give me spoilers so I can know if what [livejournal.com profile] sumeragiskank reported to me is true too. Does he not understand, I need to know what happens just so I can understand the wank and the fan-fiction! I'm semi tempted not to even read the book since I don't actually like that many of the characters except Neville.

But my big treat today was meeting my best friend from elementary school and going into NYC. In high school, we use to always meet on the train and go into NYC to get half price tickets at the TKTS booth. I've seen quite a few shows that way and it's something I've missed. Since she lives in NYC now we met at about 9 at the still temporary relocation for TKTS under the Marriott. It's odd, in high school the wait use to seem so long and then once the booth opened, we'd have another 20-30 minute wait until we go to the front. I think between having more windows and arriving a little earlier we lucked out. We had our tickets and were 3-4 blocks south by 10:10 o_O; My friend's first choice had been Wicked and I wanted to see Avenue Q. She's thought about Spamlot but overall, I found the music to that disappointing. It's funny for the first minute or so but then I always feel like I just want the song to end. From someone else in line I'd heard good things about Xanadu and really how can on resist roller skating muses! XD; In the end, I won out and we saw Avenue Q. (Wicked wasn't up.) We then walked to Chelsea and I attempted to remember where Blossom and the Chelsea Market were. I bought some yummy cupcakes at Elini's at the market and we decided to try a tiny French place next to Blossom as my friend is not a tofu sort of person. It was really too bad as I've been dying to go back to Blossom since January. The French places was all right, though my crepe needed something and my "fresh" lemonade tasted like lemon juice watered down, as in there was no sugar in it at ALL. ~.~ We then walked back to the theatre and made a detour for the Meat Market Flea Market (funky clothes and funky jewelry, nothing actually interesting) and went to the theatre.

We were smart and rather than going to our seats first, we immediately went to the bathroom XD; The man sitting next to be was grossly obese and did not really fit in the seat and there was no leg room (like economy on an airplane has more leg room o_O;; ) making it very difficult to fit my book bag near me. (I had my book bag as I had biked to the train station and had my helmet with me.) As for Avenue Q... I so LOVED it. I'd been listening to some of the tunes from it for quite some time, but now I want to actually buy the CD. Kate Monster is a lot less annoying in person, as you get to better appreciate the talent of the puppet master playing her. I adore Rod. I was to snuggle him to my bosom. I think my favorite part was his asking Christmas Eve if it's OK if his friend was gay and being reassured until a few more salient facts were revealed. I also loved the "Bad Idea Bears" OMG. And I loved what happened to them in the end XD;;;; I found myself laughing so hard I cried and feeling for the characters in such a way I cried a bit. And wow the yarmulkes at the wedding, I have no words for them. I also loved the way it really did play off Sesame Street. If I hadn't just read The Tipping Point, I'd have forgotten how Sesame Street use to teach one how to combine sounds to read. But having just come from that book, it made Avenue Q even more amusing.

I still would like to see Wicked and I think Xanadu and I confess I would happily see Avenue Q again. Next time I'll have to find something to put in one of the hats they pass around XD;; I don't know if it is always the case, but this performance there was a Metro Card. XD;;

I then finally got to try the Starbucks Raspberry Mocha Frappucino before heading home.

And while I am in better shape, the South Lex hill still royally sucks. Next time, I am cheating and taking up Longview ~.~
