The power of bleach
May. 30th, 2007 08:58 pmBleach is a wonderful thing, and I don't mean the anime/manga. Not knowing any plumbers, I decided to pick one from the yellow pages. I believe the one I picked was rather successful, he came when he was supposed, I thought the charge seemed reasonable since this was not something we could wait on, and for free he helped me fix the drain in the upstairs bathroom as well as the one in the basement. Awesome!
Then came the wonderful adventure in scrubbing out the remains of the disaster from the basement. I guess I ought to be grateful, it was not the full basement, and it was no more than 1/2 an inch deep at the very worst. However, it still took me 1 1/2 hours of solid mopping to get things clean. Now my basement has that happy clean bleach scent, which is very happy indeed and much better than the smell before. I only hope the cats don't mind the smell. >>;
Over the week end, my darling husband cut nearly all the weeds (well and the two random flowering bushes ^^;; ) and trees from in front of the house leaving me with the opportunity to plant NEW bushes there. We currently have some sort of evergreen and a fuschia azalea bush.
Our front yard gets part-shade to shade, and unfortunately, our window frames have lead paint in them, so we can't grow anything edible. I'd like something that grows easily up here, since in all honesty my gardening skills are not the greatest and I am sure within a short period I will not want to spend the energy.
So....

I do find the question of freedom of speech and such with LJ interesting, but with my real life issues, I've not had time to think strongly on it yet.
