The place wants $1700!!!!!! OMG?!?!?! So I am going to try the place cc_lemon recommended because they have a clean bench. They've not handled many 160gb drives before but at least I don't pay anything if they can't get the data and it's not like I can get it now.

This so sucks, remember boys and girls always back up your hard drives.

x_x Is it actually the hd that is broken? Or "just" the laptop?

I know how much it sucks when everthing is suddenly gone. Once, my antivirus program thought the FAT32 file was a virus. And deleted it. x_x

No, it's the drive. The HD made the "clicks of death" as they call it in the industry. ~.~ I'm stuck on my really old laptop while I wait for the new drive for my newer laptop.

I was just arguing with my husband about backing up about 30 minutes before it happened to. ~.~ It almost makes it worse, that and I was deleting things so I could start a back up in a few hours. ;;_;; I want my bad fiction I had written, I hate to think I am going to need to re-write it but I think I will.
