First something positive, Happy Belated Birthday to twotone

Now the not positive, around 10 pm this evening the hard drive on my laptop died. This means I've pretty much lost everything I downloaded, wrote, took pictures of or did between last November and today. I'm heartbroken to say the least.

I'm also now stuck using my old laptop and trying to get used to it again.

Oh this is way beyond Genius Bar repairs. ^_^;;; My husband is really good with computers and the only way I can get things back is to send it to one of those data recovery places probably. And then it is only if the cost is not so high. We're trying one more thing first that involves using the freezer, but no matter what I need a new drive.

Anyway, on that note, I need your mailing addy again. I sent out your holiday card on Sat (it was going to be a surprise) and wrote your address in the document where I keep my mailing addies and now it is gone. ;;_;;

Works for me, pencil us in and I will talk to Kennis tomorrow.

Right now, I am just so heart broken and anxious. I think I'm not going to feel better until my computer is reset up and I at least know if the data is recoverable and how much it will cost. Kennis thinks $500-$1000 and so then I get to decide if I think that is worth it, I am tempted to say it is because of the pictures. ^^;

I am particularly upset about losing all my pictures. (and all the mp3s and my videos and anything I've written) *sighs*

I hope my new drive comes soon at least so I can switch to it.

It's so horrible. Now, I get to send out the drive to a data recovery place.

Oh no, that's so awful, I'm so sorry to hear it!! :( I hope that you can get the data back somehow -- good luck with the freezer method, or the data recovery place! I know what I'm like on the few occasions I've lost data so I can imagine how distraught you must be right now. (>_<) *HUGS*

The freezer method failed. ;;_;; Now I am up to the data recovery place. I so hope it is not outrageously expensive. I don't want to lose everything. (Heck, I hope they can get everything off!)

It's horrible to lose so much, I am never going so long without backing up again.

How horrible! *sympathetic hugs* I hope you're able to recover things from it, somehow. Do you have back-ups of your photos anywhere?

No original size ones. I have back ups of my picture from pre-Jan 07 since I have that old back up but nothing past. I generally export everything and then resize it since the default size is so large.

I am going to try a data recovery place and hope they can recover the data and not charge a fortune in the process.

I'm so depressed.
