First, a happy belated birthday to [livejournal.com profile] bittenbefore and [livejournal.com profile] ginarolo, it's not that I forgot either of you, I've just been rather involved with things here.

Re: the chocolate and my suitcase, the chocolate was mine. I had brought several unopened and sealed containers of chocolates as both snacks and omiyage. Somehow United messed up my bag enough that the seal broke.

Bad news first, yesterday I went to Miyajima and climbed Mount Misen. On the way down, I slipped on a wet stone step because I was going too fast and fell and hurt my finger.

Good news, I went to the doctor today, only 5300 yen, and it is just sprained. It's currently wrapped making typing a chore, but it's not broken. Also, I could have easily hit my head but did not!

I think my good luck charm is working! :D

Glad you made it up the mountain at Miyajima! Did you see the monkeys? As I recall it was very wet when we went there too. And slippery. Autumn in Japan is, I guess.

I'm sorry about your finger, but it sounds like it turned out not TOO badly. Sounds like you had a good time in spite of it all.

Hope the deers on Miyajima didn't eat your map or anything else you were carrying. Hope you ate lots of warm momiji manju and drank good green tea.

Thinking of you!

Yes, it was drizzling when we went. I didn't see the monkeys, I am doubting they exist now lol I took the cable cars up but decided to walk down. If I'd not been rushing it would have been fine.

I am trying to have a good time, but I won't be writing any post cards I think until it is unbound in 4-5 days. lol

The deer were amusing, they nearly ate a few school children's bento and went for their school books. It was rather amusing to watch.

I'm glad you were able to go to the doctor, and that your finger wasn't broken! I hope you feel better soon!

thanks! Japanese medical care went much smoother than I had anticipated. I hope your trip to Japan doesn't have any of these problems. But yes, both Nikko and Kamakura are great day trips.

Thanks!

I only climbed down, I cheated and took the cable car up. lol

I hadn't realized how wet the steps were which is my fault, but it is such a relief it is not broken.

Today I am back to Volks to pre-order.
