I'm beginning to wonder if I have Lyme Disease. For those who don't know, I have had a weird rash or bruising resembling a birthmark on my left leg for more than a month now. I don't remember when it appeared, it was some time post Japan and I definitely had it when [livejournal.com profile] sumeraiskank, [livejournal.com profile] kosquarepelli, and [livejournal.com profile] vincentkoyha came to visit as [livejournal.com profile] kosquarepeli thought it was a birthmark. I had thought it was bruising from my luggage except... I still have it.

BLAH.

Other common Lyme Disease symptoms include fatigue (Did I not sleep well and then work out, or is it fatigue?) and muscle ache (again, the gym or something more?). I think this week is going to involve a visit to the doctor's.

My husband caught Lyme disease a few years back when we went to an SCA camping event. He did have the typical "bullseye" rash, which was a huge round rash on his leg that looked like a bad bruise, similar to what is in these pictures (http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.lib.uiowa.edu/hardin/md/pictures22/dermnet/lyme_disease_06.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.lib.uiowa.edu/hardin/md/dermnet/lymedisease7.html&h=333&w=512&sz=31&hl=en&start=5&um=1&tbnid=qdeXmxyvOQgY6M:&tbnh=85&tbnw=131&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dlyme%2Bdisease%26svnum%3D10%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official). There are blood-tests you can take to confirm Lyme Disease and usually it is treated by a course of anti-biotics. Bob came through fine and the rash eventually faded. The only side-effect he felt was some tiredness, which he put down to work and upset-stomach due to the anti-biotics.

Yeah, it sounds like a lot of people have had Lyme. I don't have the bullseye rash which is why I did not suspect it. It wasn't until I was looking things up on wikipedia I found out that is only there in 50% of cases.

A friend who also had Lyme warned me not to mix the antibiotic with dairy, or I'd be having painful dry heaves. (fun ~.~ )

Tomorrow I get to call a doctor to start the fun process of trying to find out. I am so not looking forward to it. Maybe I will go to the gym first >>;
