Today my Ethereal Angels eye candies came in. I'm rather pleased, though I now have to go digging up emails and contacting people from Yaoicon about commissions. Fan-artists ~.~

Lux in her 16mm Periwinkle eyes

Inari in 14mm Nostaliga

Twins and "Uncle" Syuusuke plushie. lol

The separate picture of Kitsune didn't come out well, and she needs the proper wig. She also has a minor problem...

So, thoughts on Eye Candies:

First, I love the colors and their depth. They also go into the socket like a dream. I am going to try and get some more, mainly Lux really needs 14 mm cause the 16 is enormous on her (but the color is PERFECT) and I want to get some for Alec. I am tempted to try 14mm in Wisteria for Kira. The colors do look darker in person and particularly out of the dolls when there is no flash. It's something to think about, since when one sees their own dolls flash is generally not about. Nostaliga is a more golden color than Golden Rod HG, but not so greenish as hazel.

Now the negatives... When trying to fit them in, I used some putty that came with some of my BlueFairy heads. It's extremely sticky and got on one of Kitsune's eyes. When trying to clean the putty off, I somehow managed to mess up the finish so one of her eyes is a little clouded looking or looks a bit darker in pictures. It's highly depressing. I knew urethane eyes were more delicate but hadn't realized it was quite like this! I keep hoping with time it will look better, though if I ever can make enough money selling things I might just need to someday order a new pair.

I like the selection of colors though. I love Hitomiya, but you can't easily pick the colors and sizes you want, and it is particularly a challenge to find nice eyes in 14 mm. There is a lot more in 12 and 16 out there.

But I do plan to try more, they're expensive, but I am just amazed at how pretty the colors are and as you can see they photograph pretty well too. ^_^

It is hard to find good 14mm eyes, as I've had more dolls that wear those than any other. I'm planning on getting my little Shay (Yuki) some glass eyes from Gina. I have a pair of 14mm green urethane eyes I need to sell... they are nice but too light and plastic-feeling for me. I loooooooove glass, especially the Zouks o.o

I like zouks, but they don't come in 14mm. I think my next favorite brand hands down is Hitomiya and then Silver. The problem is you can't pre-order so you have to hope for the best at events.

Gina's eyes do not work well for me, the pupils are too large and I am meh on the highlights.

I know, I wish Zouks came in 14mm and were still available for purchase at Sato and etc. I love Silver eyes and am not really familiar with Hitomiya. I'm hoping that some of these dealers will be at the LA Dolpa ^^

Hitomiya doesn't usually go to Dolpa. They seem to prefer Doll Show.
This is the Hitomiya site (http://hitomiya.jp/index.html)

Just click around and you can see all the gorgeous colors their glass eyes come in.

Silver is very catch as catch can. Sometimes they just sell their preimum eyes in a limited selection of colors (like say 3) and sometimes they have seconds, which I much prefer.

I am not sure how many Japanese dealers one is really going to get a Dolpa in the US, since most dealers have jobs outside selling doll items. ^^;

Those eyes are beautiful! And the prices are really good too! I wish they took orders ;_;

The prices are actually higher, they don't update everything, but are still relatively reasonable.

They don't take pre-orders. I looked into it already since I had been hoping to get my 14 mm eyes from them. I have some I bought at Doll Show. They have the colors I most want, but finding them in 14 mm....

I'm haven't like EA eye candies since the beginning, when they said they were glass (and charged Zouk prices ¬_¬). Maybe it was an honest mistake, but it left a really bad taste in my mouth. I prefer Enchanted Eyes. They're also urethane, but they're much sturdier and look much more like Zouks, IMO.

I can see why that left a bad taste in your mouth. My problem with Enchanted and Zouks actually for that matter (ignoring the size prob) is they don't actually come in the colors I want. I've done enough FCS for people to see that while zouks are very pretty there are quite a few colors that are not available. Enchanted has a larger selection, but most of the colors are in the same family. I had thought about trying to get a pretty golden brown from Enchanted originally, but none of their colors worked. 39, which was the best of the bunch looked too dark. They had tons of yellows, but the yellows were, well too yellow, and didn't have any brown to them.

My first choice is Hitomiya always, but they don't do pre-orders for all intents and purposes and finding two pairs of eyes that match is nigh near impossible. Prob, I will use the Eye candies until I can find Hitomiya or Silver eyes in the color/size I want. Fortunately, EA (and urethane eyes in general) seems to hold their value and I have not seen many people sell that at a loss.

Sighs, thanks. *hugs* Overall, I love the color options though. They have all the colors I love from Hitomiya, except you can actually get 14mm and matching sets lol

It's not so bad, it sort of photographs worse than it looks. o_O I will try to get a good picture of them next to one another tomorrow. But they're my twins and I do like the color.

Thank you for the review of these eyes! The delicate finish sounds scary, but I'm glad you like the color selection.

Yeah, I'm not really sure I know what I did to get the finish off. o_O I keep thinking somehow there is still a film from the sticky putty, but I just can't figure it out.

The colors are really nice and I like the smaller pupil a lot. It's so hard to find good 12-14 mm eyes. ~.~ I might get a pair for Alec, and then sell them if I get lucky in Japan. ^^;; Fortunately, if one only pays about $50 for their EAs, one seems to be able to get $50 back. ^^;
