A while back, [livejournal.com profile] bittenbefore was sharing things she was in love with, so I think I am going to try and make every month a little brighter by listing 5 things I am in love with which are not strictly computer related lol

1. Arugula XD; (for those who don't know I adore bitter greens like arugula, I even like eating it straight.)

2. Sugar Scrubs (so nice on my skin <3 and the ones I own have the most lovely scents)

3. Cynthia Steffee skirts (I currently own 4, and I just love the way they fit. I so need to go hunting on ebay for more.)

4. Pop Sociology books (Most people read pop psychology books, but I have always been a pop sociology person. I love books like The Second Shift, Nickel and Dimed and Falling From Grace If anyone has recommendations on a Sociology book with lots of case studies but little in the way of jargon, please recommend.

5. Meeting a friend for lunch (this one is sort of obvious lol)

I've also been thinking about a post [livejournal.com profile] reynardine made about disturbing songs in 1776. In all honesty, the most disturbing song I can easily think of is the following song I adore from the musical Assassins
How I Saved Roosevelt

It's a lovely play on a John Phillips Sousa tune, and on a first listen it doesn't seem so disturbing until you stop to really think about the song. Overall, I really like Assassins and am still kicking myself for missing it the second time it was on Broadway. ~.~

One a side note, is it just me or is a British cast recording of 1776 somewhat.. disconcerting.

In other news, while it is early yet, I'm soon going to be posting one of those wishlists for the holidays again, as my birthday is at the beginning of December, so if anyone is looking for an idea, it will be available. ^^

Ohhh then don't try arugula. It's definitely a more bitter green. I love eating it with pear and asagio cheese though cause it makes the flavor more mellow.

And yes, that was one of my 4 skirts! I was wearing the other one I adore last night and I wore one to the tea party. the 4th one fits a little odd though. >.< I bought a bunch of them on ebay XD;

I will post it soon and i am thinking about what you asked in that other comment to me. Thank you for sharing Ryuuzuo's story. <3 *hugs*

Mmmm, so many intreguing musicals, so little time! (& I still really really want to see Out of the Woods as well as the musical version of The Lion King)

BTW, have now caught up on all those 'Accidentally in Love' videos and consequently want to see Ouran & Quest for Camelot too. *lol* ^__^

Must try to find "Assassins". It sounds interesting. And personally, I'd love to see what a British cast would do with "1776". ENG-LISH-MEN!!! <--Dickinson during that walking-stick battle scene with Adams. ;-D

I like your idea of 5 favorite things. I think I shall post such a list in my own journal. :-)

I know I have a few friends who don't like all those weird lettuces but I sort of like them more lol I can see how the flavor could be unappealing though.

I want to get more, they're horribly $$$$$ new, which is why I like ebay XD;

Promise will do!

Ouran is HUGELY popular. (It's very recent, it just started in Spring and ended in Sept.) I've only seen a handful of episodes. People compare it to FruBa and Utena,and I can sort of see both.

Accidentally in Love is actually from Shrek 2. lol

Quest for Camelot is quite old, if you want I can burn you a copy of it as an AVI onto CD. The insert songs in it are mostly cheezy, but I like the characters. I have a huge thing for earnest and hard working characters. ^_^

BTW, it's Into the Woods. XD; Can you play R1 DVDs or just 2?

I was watching the stick fight the other day, but the Dickinson from the 1972 movie is just not as good a Dickinson as Michael Cumptsy from the 1997 production. He's so self deprecating and charming, you can so see how he got to bein his position of power. Though while I like Brent Spiner, he is not William Daniels. No one snarks and is sarcastic like Mr. Daniels. I've thought of buying the CD for British 1776, but was rather disappointed by the British Into the Woods, where they have the most horribly overdone accents. o_O I mean I know actualy people in Britian speak like that, but judging from my other British musicals, it just seems very fake lol

If you want the mp3s, I have them all for the original cast since I own the CD. It's really bad because at times you find yourself actually rooting for the assassins ^^;;;; *cough*Leon Czgolsz*cough* I own a copy of the script though. It's positively chilling that in the 1970's Sam Byck wanted to assissinate Nixon by dropping a plane on the White House. I remember when I heard about that plan in the musical from 1992, I thought it was the most insane thing I ever heard.

I sort of got the idea from [livejournal.com profile] bittenbefore, but wanted it to be 5 non-computer things since I think I have a tendency to become a little too enthralled by the computer lol

I really liked the bits and pieces of Assassins I heard on Amazon (although I was primarily listening to the version with Neil Patrick Harris. I <3 Neil Patrick Harris so much and wish I could track down more CDs with his singing.)

So which is your favorite sugar scrub so far? I haven't tried the WyldeIvy ones yet (still working on finishing up some of my other scrubs) but I like my Villainess warming scrub on cold days when the shower can't heat up quickly enough. I'm not so big on the two warming scrubs I have from Bath and Body Works... they smell too perfumey. I'm wondering if I should throw them out or just keep using them and hope that I get used to the smell.

Ohhhh yeah, when it first came out I think half my f-list was going nuts about it. XD It does look awfully cute...

Hey! I knew there was a reason I wanted to watch Shrek 2 again! *lol*

Thanks for offering, but my compy doesn't like AVI format (I think because it's a Mac?) *HUGS anyway*...I'll probably be able to rent it on good ol' VHS as I have a high tolerance for cheeziness & the characters look interesting. ^__^

Right, right, not Out Of but Into!! XD Fortunately my DVD player likes any format as it's multi-region. It gets cookies where the computer does not. *lol*

I own a Mac and it plays AVIs o_O What program are you using to view things, you should try VLC. It's WAAAAY better than quicktime and will have no prob with most AVIs.

It's incredibly cheezy and I love it! lol

Okies this is good to know about DVDs XD;;;;;

I haven't heard the new cast, but I am sure they are good. I bought the original back umm before it opened on Broadway lol

I've only used the Wylde Ivy but I so want to try the other brands. I am thinking of ordering from SoapBox, but I am waiting until their next free gift, since I missed the last one. ~.~

I wanted to try some of the weirder scrubs, it's hard though because I love highly scented things, but I am also sensitive to scents. lol

I could not use something too perfumey. I would toss it. I really want to try some of the SuperBad products and there was some new chapstick products that looked nice.

I hate quicktime and I never had good luck with real media player. ~.~

VLC/Video Lan site (http://www.videolan.org/)

My hubby is a techie, and got me using VLC. I gave it to a few other people like [livejournal.com profile] kosquarepelli lol It runs well on the Mac and plays most AVIs. There are a few it doesn't play, but not so many and not older ones.

I'm pretty sure it was designed for the Mac which helps a lot. ^_^

PLMK if it helps.
