For anyone who was wondering, my invitation to the Volks Tea Party in NYC arrived with today's mail. F.I.T. is right near my favorite karaoke place in NYC and I am so tempted to go before or after the dinner. You so know you want to [livejournal.com profile] sumeragiskank!!!!!! Anyone else who might be interested, let me know. I suck at singing but that never stops me, and this place has all the Broadway show tunes as well as some J-pop (*loves* "Jounetsu" by the Kinki Kids, but is heart broken can not mutilate "Reason", but maybe they have whiny "Right Here" and "Right Here Waiting" <333)

And speaking of musicals, I borrowed my Dad's AX card, and have ROW A CENTER ORCHESTRA SEATS to see Les Miserables for my birthday!!!!! WAIIII!!! For some reason I think it's shorter than I remember, but even so, to see it again, so wonderful. Though they ought to have Michael Ball and Michael Maguire reprise their rolls since I always wanted to see the Michaels together. I am also thinking of splurging and trying to get tickets to see Wicked in November, or maybe August or Avenue Q or both. lol I miss going to shows. I miss waiting on line to get 1/2 price tickets, it was probably good training for attending doll/doujinshi events in Japan. lol

[livejournal.com profile] twotone are we still going berry picking?

P.S. Thank you for everyone who voted in the poll. I truly appreciate that you all did and hope www.menlove.com amused you as much as it amused me.

So are you going to stay in the Gershwin? lol

I'm trying to decide who to bring with me, I know none of the SD-13 boys but I can't decide if I want to bring my Nagisa or not.

Gershwin? is that a hotel?

I may stay with my grandmother, or maybe with friends, not sure yet. My Yuka is coming for sure (yo Kasumi), and I may bring an SD13 boy or an SD girl, we'll see.

congrats on the Les Mis birthday! :D It sounds pretty awesome. Avenue Q is a lot of fun... I keep hoping they'll release it to DVD or something, because the songs is really enhanced by the visuals.

Karaoke! Broadway showtunes? Would that include Avenue Q songs?? It's so sad, I can sing most Disney movie songs and a bunch of commercial jingles, but I'm totally out of touch with popular music.

Yeah it was a hotel they were talking about on DoA. lol

I am so not bringing an SD-13 boy. I am thinking of bringing 2 MSD girls or a MSD girl and a MSD boy. Decisions....

Orihime my Anne is definitely coming. I adore her and she is light lol

YES there are Avenue Q songs!!!! At least I am 99% sure, I tried singing "Popular" from Wicked once and completely mutilated it, but I am great at "Someone Else's Story" from Chess. I think most of the newer shows had a huge selection of songs, but Evita was sadly lacking.

We can sing "The Internet is for Porn" lol

A lot of Disney songs are available in Japan lol I do like bad recent pop, but lately I have been singing "Don't Stand So Close to Me" and "Right Here Waiting" is from 1989 I think?

*hugs*

As a child of the 80s, I have a soft spot for Richard Marx. My favorite Richard Marx song, though, is his cover of a Chage and Aska (old school Japanese pop!) song. It's hilarious to see him turn a song that was originally about living life to your fullest, into... an angsty 80s Richard Marx pop-ballad. :D

YES, Avenue Q! :D

I think mine is "Right Here Waiting", it's just so wangsty and emo! But then I have a huge soft spot for wangsty guy songs. I will have to introduce you to bad wangsty ballads of today lol

I adore 80's music and I am so the child of the 80's. lol I am currently listening to Jessie's Girl. XD;;;;

And I was so sad, someone knew "Last Christmas" by Wham but not "Father Figure" and "I Want Your Sex" ;;_;;

I don't know about North America, but in Japan, Wham/"Last Christmas" is part of the standard Christmas song package. I once saw a cheesy fantasy movie called "Last Christmas" which used it as a theme song... it was about two women who have to keep living their lives over and over again (dying shortly after Christmas) until they finally get it "right".
