So real life has eaten up any chance I've had to post to LJ. If anyone did wish me a happy birthday at the start of the month, thank you very much! I spent my birthday in Walt Disney World where I gained weight and ate lots of free cupcakes. (seriously) I also left my laptop at home to try to be as internet free as possible to make it a true vacation.

I saw the whole LJ kerfuffle. Unsure what I will do because importing all my posts to DW seems like a pain (but I still might do it) and I mostly use LJ to check on other people's lives now and to sell crap. I would like to at some point start journaling again, but I suspect I shall go back to the old fashioned sort of blogs where you get to use html and create a layout and most posts will be about teh baby err toddler (not that they're not now...)

2011 has been momentous. It's the first year I've not been to Japan since 1998. I still hope that somehow in 2012 I will make it back. A lot will depend on teh toddler.

The toddler is well toddling, a lot. She walks quite far when she feels like it and rarely crawls now. She makes lots of sounds which she possibly thinks are words and attempts at communication but unfortunately are not for us because we are fail as parents.

I love reading about all of your lives, even when I don't have time to post or comment. But please know I am thinking of you all and wishing you a happy 2012!

Happy New Year! I was thinking about you lately and wondering how you were doing. We just had the first earthquake. =_=

It did occur to me after I did it that posting birthday wishes for you to LJ might be a bit pointless (perhaps I should've logged into Facebook), but it sounds like you had a wonderful time! (Free cupcakes? Very nice.)

Your LJ has a custom comment page anyway, so that makes it a lot easier for people to comment on your posts without having their vision destroyed by the new style.

Happy New Year, Rachel, and I hope 2012 brings health and happiness to you and the family! *hugs*

Wishing you and your family a happy new year as well!

I'm just curious... what part of importing posts to DW is a pain? I found it to be a pretty pain-free process, which was one of my main reasons for moving to DW.

I am doing well but exhausted and overwhelmed by all the crap I own. ~.~ I'm thinking of you too, everytime I walk in my kitchen I see the small thing I want to send to you. >>;

Hopefully that is the only quake of 2012 you feel! :D

I didn't check FB either. >>; I only used the internet to book some reservations at restaurants (and cancel some) at WDW and to check waits at rides. But yes, visiting WDW for your birthday, you can get a pin and free cupcakes at sitdown places. The sprinkles were a huge hit.

I actually don't completely mind the new style though my comment page seems to me to be the old style. For my own personal LJ I'm not all that into people putting something in the subject line. It makes the notifications LJ mails me separate emails so things can more easily get lost in the shuffle.

Happy New Year *hugs* If for any reason you're coming back to the US do let me know. The sprout is much bigger and is now an actual little person. (She also finally outgrew your gift dress a month or so ago, but it turned out to be my favorite dress to put her in at the start of the Fall lol )

TBH, anything that doesn't have 1 simple button as soon as I log in to do what I want is sort of pain-free right now. I saw a bunch of people posting memes of books they read this year and I don't think I read one book in 2011 that was not geared to the preschool or younger set. (Now if you ask me how many times I've read "Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See?" or "GoodNight Connecticut" I honestly couldn't tell you but it's definitely double digits.) Right now, for example is my break while the baby sleeps. I want to see what people are doing on LJ/FB, check DoA, check the Homefinder site, and I really *should* be going through crap and working on sales or just tossing things. :/ I spend a lot of time exhausted. The baby does not sleep through the night. When we are lucky this means being awoken for 10 or so minutes every 2-3 hours from midnight to 8 am. When we are unlucky, like last night, it means being awake from 3-4:20am while the baby crawls/walks around, giggles, nurses, and refuses to go back to sleep.

Happy Belated Birthday and maybe we will see you at Coventry. I desperately need some fresh veggies to try to make some healthier to eat. :/

If for any reason you're coming back to the US do let me know.

Funny you should say that, because...

I'm going to return to the US in March (Jin has tour dates), and while I will be starting and ending in California, I will be in NYC for a few days in the middle. Probably 12-15 (I'll be flying on 11th and 16th, and the concert is on the 15th so I won't be available.)

At this point in time I don't know when my roommates are arriving and we haven't actually agreed on where we're staying yet, but I will be arriving before them, I think, and therefore the 12th is probably the best day for me to try to do something on my own (though 13/14 could be workable). Any chance of you being available to meet up? It would be lovely to see you again! *hugs*

Hahaha, except we might be going to CA at some point in March XD; My mother wants to visit my sister and I am not sure when we are looking to go. I want to rent an apartment since I think it would be MUCH easier than sharing a hotel room. (My mother likes to get up super early.)

But I would love to find a way to make it workable. Adina went into the city to meet Erin, though I would probably now park at a closer station because the train trip was the worst part! The 12th should be good. We don't usually have Mommy and Baby things then. It is more since museums are closed we would need to think of indoor things in case the weather is bad and so Adina has a place to nap. Adina is very different now than when you last saw her lol We also not longer have pumping issues because she nurses now! and of course eats solids and drinks water

Jin always has bad timing with tour dates, one way or another. ^_^

Museums are closed on Mondays? I didn't realise. If it would be easier not to bring Adina into the city I can come meet you elsewhere, if that helps? (You'll just have to tell me which trains I want again!)

Adina was so tiny back then! Teeny little thing in her super stroller. I am still so impressed by how well that thing takes corners.

Well, we've got just under two months to think about it, so hopefully it will work out and not clash with your family visit. *crosses fingers*

I will do my best to make sure it works though because I really do want to see you. The family visit has not been booked so it should be workable.

Many museums are closed on Mondays but if the weather is pleasant Adina would actually prefer a playground now. She loves slides.

I still use the super stroller, though now she sits up entirely. She's also still tiny for a 15 month old, but is much larger than she use to be. At birth she was 18 inches and 5 lbs 11oz, now she is 29 1/4 inches and 17 lbs 2 oz. (we just were at the pediatrician today.)

Here is a picture from a few days post Christmas:
