And the verdict is....
Sep. 13th, 2010 01:10 pmSo for those curious, since around Friday night I've had a terrible time breathing. When I lie down it gets particularly bad. I do sleep with my head propped up, but it is just not enough. I can breathe, it's not like I am choking, but I have harder time breathing through my nose and through my mouth than I would like. It is not a happy thing, particularly since it makes me more likely to have insomnia. I've always had a bit of insomnia, but with the pregnancy and my breathing issues it has gotten worse. So for example last night, I only got about 4 hours of sleep.
I want to stress that this is not affecting the baby at all. She is still happily making my belly move on its own, this is only a problem for me. :(
On the happy side, I talked to midwives and got advice on what I can try to get some relief. The best solution for me, is taking Benadryl. Not only will it clear my sinuses, but I find allergy medication is one of the best sleep aids out there. So it should solve both my problems in hopefully one easy step. I also have a few other pieces of advice to try, the hardest being cutting out dairy :( I probably will try to eat less of it, but I just can't give it up I think.
BTW for those curious, tomorrow means I finished 35 weeks and I start month 9! Term is considered week 37-40. Your due date is week 40.

BTw the package came, *hugs* thank you!!!!! I really like sheep, I've spent years imitating them because I've always been fond of them :)
just a little longer....
Date: 2010-09-15 02:10 pm (UTC)some say this sleeplessness near the end is nature's way of getting you prepped & ready for the reality of what it will be like after the birth - there is some truth to that. the fourth trimester and all.
btw, Jackson was born on the dot at 37 weeks (so three weeks before I was "reasonably" expecting him) my expectations based on the arrival of the other two at 40 weeks and and 40 weeks and a day....
I predict October 16.
or... the next day if you notice dropping (not that I ever noticed anything when others said I did - the day before Jackson came). You looked to be carrying high in the wedding pics - cute pics - you look great!

Date: 2010-09-15 02:20 pm (UTC)The Benadryl completely solved the problem. I've gotten plenty of sleep and my sinuses are doing so much better. I was taking 1 25 mg pill, but last night we split the pill in half and that seems to work perfectly. My breathing has also gotten a lot better, it might be the Benadryl, it might be my allergies improving, it could be the humidifier, or it could be the prenatal yoga and exercise regime I started. It's funny, I have had a lot more energy lately than I had earlier.
And yeah the midwives suggested the insomnia was in preparation for the baby, same with the increased energy.
I'm working under the assumption she can come anytime between now and early November when week 42 is. It's a little scary. I think my baby shower is right before week 37 or right after lol
