I'd really really like to go to SCC and Dolpa, but I'm thinking more and more that is is a completely ridiculous idea. The problem with trying to go to both of course is, my closing and my move would literally be the week I am leaving and in the case of the move, the day I need to fly out. It's also an extremely limited trip since I need to be home for the 7th to see my husband. There is also the problem I am still puking, as in a couple times a day, which makes me anxious about flying and SCC under the best of circumstances.

So despite more crowds and higher airfare and heat urgh and no Dolpa and no SCC, I am thinking... maybe I should go to Japan in June. The pluses are: hydrangea, uhhh hydrangea, I can spend more time in Japan like two whole weeks and actually manage to do some of the sightseeing I'd love to do... like visit Amonoshidate and Hiei-san or maybe Izumo taisha or make an attempt on Fuji-san, OK yeah pregnant ladies should probably try not to climb Fuji-san but still..

Any thoughts or comments are appreciated on this.

I'm probably not going to go to Tokyo for GW either. >.> I want to, of course, but it would just be spending money so I could spend more money, and I have literally no room right now for any more doujin or doll stuff or awesome poofy clothes.

If by Hiei, you mean the one outside my window, there's a ropeway that goes almost all the way to the top (it goes to the Garden Museum, and it's a pretty easy walk to the temple from there). The temple is pretty cool and has like 5 different temple stamps. And there's a bus that goes around to all the different parts of the temple 'cause it's popular with old people. Also, I learned that there's a 98% vegan buffet near Karasuma Oike that's all you can eat for less than ¥1000 at lunchtime.

Your instincts are right--you probably should concentrate on your move right now. Maybe by the time June rolls around, your morning sickness will have improved?

I'd go with the second option if I were you. It's disappointing to miss SCC and Dolpa, but more time + less stress + less puking = better trip. And Fuji-san!!!! :D

Well, I don't know how easy SCC or Dolpa will be in the future just because I will have a kid and it's sort of hard to leave your child behind to go to an event or to bring your child. Neither event is particularly conducive to either with lots of long lines, standing around and nothing to eat. But I do think I would be happier not stressing about my move.

I was really ill when I cam home from Japan in February before the pregnancy was confirmed. I am sure the other people on my flight thought I had some sort of death flu lol

I did find out I can get a special pass for the trains so that if I need to sit people are more likely to give me their seat! Go pregnancy! It can be hard to get around though.

But I think June might be better even if it costs more from the outset. I'd really like to be able to stay longer and have a chance to go to places I'd love to visit. I am not considering going for Comiket lol

I think I could manage the climb, I'm more athletic than I look and I doubt pregnancy will keep me down that much if I'm not nauseous all the time. Fuji-san might be pushing it, but Hieizan sounds more reasonable.

I've been to Japan at the end of June once before and I've been to Japan in August. July is actually the only month I've not been to Japan at all, so it would be nice to also knock that off my list XD; I imagine the heat and humidity will bother me more than usual because of the pregnancy, but I also get sad without humidity the dry heat in the west really kills my throat! I remember during my honeymoon I actually coughed up some blood because it was so dry!

The big thing is if I am doing this I want to plan it right after I move so that I can actually book hotels >>; June is more popular and fills up!

I've wanted to go there for some time, I'm trying to knock places off my list of famous sights in Japan lol

I almost went in October but decided to go to Tohoku instead which was wonderful. ♥

Except you haven't already bought a guidebook lol I don't plan to buy a lot of clothes in Japan, what with my ever changing sizes, though oddly my new skirt from Japan fits wonderfully still. I just feel like, do I need more doujinshi??? I enjoy seeing my circle friends and doing books, but maybe I could just meet them in June. And while I really want Kakeru, Chika and their outfits, I am not sure I can face Dolpa itself. I find Dolpas in Japan a lot more exhausting and unfun in certain respects than US ones, where it is way easier to find something edible.

Yes, I mean the one right near you. It's one of the few places I've not been and I have wanted to go for a long time. And 5 temple stamps... ♥ You know how to tempt a girl. I think I could manage to walk. And yeah I think there are more places than I thought in Kyoto and I'd love to visit Nara in 2010 for its 1000 year anniversary.

When do you finish classes and can you/would you take off a day or two afterwords to sightsee in the Kansai area? As I know traveling too much gets $$$$$

I am sure part of the reason my morning sickness is sticking around is the stress of the move. If it's not gone away after I move I'm going to try acupuncture since I've heard it can help a lot, but right now I just don't have time. Some days are of course better than others with the morning sickness, but there have also been a few really bad days lately, like Monday. ~.~

Yeah.... I am really starting to think that myself. (and maybe if Kennis has moved to the new job I can trick him into going! I'd love to bicycle to Shikoku with him and pregnant women can bicycle!) It's really the stress though which is well stressing me out. lol

I'm not sure I could really climb it, but there are some sightseeing things I really want to do that I know are just not an option if I go in May

I think you should concentrate on what is the best for you and your well-being, since you take care of the baby by taking care of yourself.

Flying while sick is definitely no fun. The morning sickness might come to pass by the time of your actual trip, right? Especially with the stress hopefully easening up now that the new place is secured and the move can be planned in more detail.

How much do you plan to be involved in the actual move, though? I mean, I can't imagine lifting up heavy stuff etc would be the best idea while pregnant. If majority of the actual move will be done by a)professionals and/or b)husband & male friends, then you being away for the actual move might even be good/convenient.

Attending events will probably be somewhat trickier once the baby is born, so that is probably also something to be taken into consideration. Personally I tend to get a really big rush of happiness and energy from fun things like events and while I don't know about you for sure, I imagine you do get joy from them. ^_~ If they have a positive effect on you mentally, it's not something to be just brushed off either. I've read that it is very good for babies if the mother has fun while she is pregnant.

Of course, if going would be more stress than fun, you should definitely not go.

There's nothing really saying you can't go now and then go again June/July (possibly with hubby), right? ^_~

Uhhh the fact I can't afford to go in June/July and for GW is actually a rather good reason I can't do both. ~.~ It's damn expensive.

Attending events is harder with a baby/small child, but I just also feel like... do I really need anything? I keep coming up with no for an answer. Some new doll clothes would be nice but I can try to commission people via DoA.

And no it's not lifting its packing and supervising the packing of anything I do not have time to pack myself and then making sure the movers are careful with my possessions and then unpacking them. It feels rather selfish and jerky to leave my husband in the lurch like that.

And no, it is highly doubtful the morning sickness will be completely gone by then, we're talking a week from tomorrow.

Classes don't finish until July 20th. As far as I know, I can take vacation after that, but they just love to schedule mandatory seminars during peak vacation time. I think that exams are the week that changes from June to July. I might be able to take a few days off then.

Post the 26th/27th was right when I was thinking of coming to Kansai. I might make a side trip to Matsue first, since I can use an air pass to fly there and I've wanted to go to Izumo Taisha for a while. Rail passes are great, but sometimes flying really is the best way to get places, particularly when the location is wonky. Right now I'm thinking that Wed?

I so want to go to Yamagata to climb the remaining Dewa, but I just am not sure that would ever work out.
