I've become a mogwai...
Apr. 9th, 2010 09:24 amThis might be TMI for some people but so it goes...
Well not quite, if I eat after 8 pm I am violently ill around 11 or midnight puking up whatever it was I ate in 3 goes. It's most unpleasant. I've now been told I'm on the bad end of morning sickness so I'm not going crazy when I think to myself how do people manage to have more than 1 kid when they're sick like this.
Yesterday I had another doctor's appointment, for those curious, I am now a few days into week 13 which means I am almost out of the first trimester already. Week 14 is the official start of month 4 and the second trimester. Everyone says the second trimester is the best part of being pregnant. You have more energy, you're not ill all the time, and you stop worrying about miscarriages and you're not big as a whale yet like the third trimester. I have to say new parents are really lucky and can really see so much more of their babies now! I got a special more detailed ultrasound and wow could I really see my baby! And it actually sort of.. looked like a baby and not some sort of strange alien life form. It has 2 arms, 2 legs, 2 feet with toes and 2 hands with fingers. I think I saw a spine, definitely saw the heart and maybe saw two ears! It's about 2 1/4 inches from crown to rump now. It no longer looks like two blobs like before. It's also pretty darn active and was having fun doing somersaults and bouncing around in my belly.
In other news, I've lost 4 pounds in the last 4 weeks despite the fact I can't really fit in my pre-pregnancy pants or bras. My blood pressure is still low, 100 over 70. I've also finally found a toothpaste I can use, and I swear it smells just like BPAL Tokyo Stomp.

Date: 2010-04-09 02:58 pm (UTC)I honestly always thought when I had a baby I would just be giving up so much, and now that I'm actually having one I don't feel that way at all. Even with the morning sickness.
Morning sickness is really awful, at least for me, but for many people it's not as bad. It does mean everything is working the way it is supposed to though and that is a huge comfort.
Thanks! *hugs* It feels like I'm on an exciting adventure.

Date: 2010-04-09 03:19 pm (UTC)I'm so sorry about the morning sickness... I do hope it gets a lot better once you're officially in the second trimester. And yay for the somersaulting baby!

Date: 2010-04-09 07:41 pm (UTC)It's just so hard to get things done right now. I spend a lot of time trying to figure out what I can eat and what might not make me ill. But yeah, here is hoping. It was really exciting though to see the images since other than the morning sickness there is nothing super obvious going on right now.
