Before I respond to individual comments....

Originally, I had planned to wait until next Thursday to make my announcement, as I would have had my 2nd doctor's appointment and my Nuchal Translucency would be past. Because of my age and this being my first time, I've been a little nervous about miscarriage and birth defects. However, in the end my mischievous nature could just not resist posting on 4/1 to see who thought I was pranking and who thought I was telling the truth.

If you've been pregnant before, please no horror stories. I do not want to hear about: morning sickness that did not go away or came back, any aches and pains, how labor sucked and was painful, anything about ripping or episiotomies, or well just anything negative. It's very exciting for me and my husband right now and playing freak out the newly pregnant person is mean. No one who read my LJ is genetically related to me except one person, and said person has never been pregnant. You can tell me wonderful stories about short labor, morning sickness ending at week 12 and feeling energetic during pregnancy, even if they are made up :P

Morning sickness sucks. Or sucks for me. Many people do not have it as badly as I do. I puke at least once a day now, (down from week 9 where it was 7-10x) and I actually feel worse in the evening. Flying with the start of morning sickness was a miserable experience.

My due date is 10/19/10 (Yagyuu Hiroshi's birthday for those curious) and I am currently about 1/2 way done with week 12. At week 9 I had my last appointment and got to see my baby on the ultrasound and its beating heart. Week 14 is the start of trimester 2 and hopefully all morning sickness is over by then.

No, I've no idea what gender my baby is yet. They can't tell until week 20 or so.

On the April Fool's: Well played ma'm. XD

On the baby news: once more, congratulations! ^^ I hope the morning sickness lets up and that it will be smooth sailing from there on out. From what I have heard, pregnancy can also have positive physical effects. ^_~

Now that the cat is out of the bag, do let us know how things proceed, non?

OMG congratulations! *hugs you tight* I'm so happy for you. ;;

I geeked out so hard when I read 10/19. That's got to be the best due date ever. :3

*shifty eyes*

I have an "easy pregnancy" story, but it's kind of gross. Let me know if you still want to hear it.

One of my LJ friends has had three babies in three years, and has thoroughly enjoyed the experience of being pregnant! I'm sure the morning sickness will go away soon, and you can get down to the business of enjoying being a pregnant lady. :)

Wow. Congratulations!!!
I hope everything goes smoothly. .^^

Any names in mind yet? I know you don't know if it's a boy or girl yet but I'm sure you've thought of names for both already? =.3

Yeah, I was pretty amused. It was like some sort of reverse trap lol

The only physical effects I've noticed so far are:

none of my pants want to fit
my hair grows WAY too fast
my nails grow way too fast.

I'm seriously going to have to make some appointments to get my nails done at this point.

And yeah, I made a LJ tag specifically for updates lol

Thanks! *hugs* I'm really happy and excited too, when I'm not nauseous or puking. Hubby says he can tell I am doing better because I am cranky now.

And considering my husband is a glasses wearing seme, who knows? XD; Though I doubt my baby will actually be born on that day. But October tends to be a fun month and the weather should be crisp but nice here! :D

Im going to be so big for my brother's wedding and NY Dolpa though.

Thanks! I'm pretty excited. Originally, I'd thought about trying to go to Japan in the Fall as well, but now I know it is so not happening. My trip to CA for my brother's wedding will probably be my last trip for a while, since I am not so sure I want to go too far with a small baby.

Well luckily I don't have any horror stories, things like sciatica at the end and tearing were no big deal and at at a bit over 10 months past are already long forgotten. I was in labor a long time but once I got to the hospital and got an epidural it was just a waiting game. What I am trying to say is that even though a few things kiiiinda sucked it wasn't nearly as bad as people say. I think when they try and scare you its to make themselves feel good. I didn't have morning sickness but I had some food aversion in the beginning and I would feel sick if I didn't eat for a while so I kept some fruit snacks in my purse at all time. I dunno about your morning sickness but one tip I have heard is to keep soda crackers by your bed and eat some before you get up. You can also eat ginger candies or sniff lemons. I also always kept ginger chews in my purse just in case.

That sounds like a lot of babies... I am sort of glad that is not me lol I think I would be pretty overwhelmed. I am excited to be an ordinary pregnant woman at some point, I'm really excited to be able to eat like a normal person again, or well to be able to eat things I can't eat now. Slowly, I am able to eat a few more things. I keep trying to push boundaries.

If it involves puking and morning sickness, as long as it is not after the first trimester XD;;; Mom shared one about someone in her office which is one of many reasons I've been making Hubby do all the driving. :D

I can tell you I'm not bothered at all by things like the ultrasound thing where they stick that wand up you. It's actually sort of exciting when there is something good to see. I was sort of sad when they stopped since I couldn't watch the baby anymore >>;;

Haha, it was a different kind of "gross". I can't remember how it came up, but my mom once mentioned that one of her co-workers said that childbirth wasn't a big deal, and that in her case (she had two kids, I think, both boys) it wasn't any worse than pooping out a really big poop. I thought it was kind of funny and horrible and hopefully a bit comforting? Maybe??

Thanks! I'm pretty excited.

And of course I have some names in mind. :D I'm Jewish so there is a tradition of naming children for dead relatives. (I'm named for my great grandmother Rose, whose Hebrew name is Ruchel just like me, it got romanized as Rose though because that was a much more popular girl's name at the time.)

I have the following letters available to me:
A (for Anne, and I do not like the name Anne itself though)
S (for Sol)
L (for Louis)
L (for Loren, I think this is an awful boy's name and I knew too many Laurens I did not like in High School)
M (for Mary, Jewish girls are not named Mary ^^; )
V (for Vera)
W (for William, though Hubby's Dad is named for his father so I don't feel like it is as necessary)

I can not use the following names as I already have relatives with said names:
Sara(h)
Sharon
Shoshonah
Laura
Lucas
Anne
Ari
Megan
Michael
Miriam
William

I hate WASPY last names as given names and I won't pick any name in the top 50 most popular names.

Ohhhhh that is nothing lol That is a perfectly happy and fine story to share and when it comes down to it, really not all that gross or bad to me lol I'm going to have to deal with baby poop soon enough XD;

My mom says that all 3 of us came out pretty easy and that her labor was not that bad. So I am hoping I take after her.

My mom's story involved having morning sickness while trying to get to work and it leading to destroyed gears in her car XD;;;; Between that and the motion sickness I've had since Takayama to some degree is why I've not been house/apartment hunting too much yet.

How exciting!

Yes, so far my baby has been all over Japan in utero and is going to have a second in utero trip under his/her belt by the time they come out lol

I'm just sad because the doctors say no onsens ;;_;; I've also had to give up alcohol (it's not been a big deal for me) and no caffeine. Though I am hoping once I am outof my first trimester to occasionally have a little coffee or tea.

See that is exactly the thing I do not want to hear. I don't care if to you those sorts of things are not bad. They are both things on the do not share list. ^^;;; That is sort of my problem with recent moms, they don't always understand what someone who is going through something for the first time does not want to hear about at all. My mom is severe sciatica pain, like could not walk because of it, and I had sciatica pain once in '08 and it was very very unpleasant and I am going to do my best to not have a repeat performance of this.

I actually plan to do a natural childbirth, with no epidurals and a mid-wife and doula. Supposedly a good doula knows how to help the baby come out without problems.

I have some food aversions, but none of them are so unusual for me other than cinnamon. I feel sick if I don't eat often enough and if I get sick enough I puke and retch. I also just puke sometimes. I've developed an aversion for saltines after puking them up a few times. ^^; Right now things are hard because it is Passover. Before that I was carrying around ginger snaps with me and my one always safe food are bagels.

Ah, well that's why I didn't go into detail, just in case lol.

Yeah I was researching doulas but I ended up not getting one, not because they are bad but because there is no reason to get one really unless you are really picky about your birth or doing it natural, which I never intended on doing. I really respect women who go natural though :).

I don't think I had aversions to certain things, I didn't know it until I was thinking about eating it or smelling it lol. I ended up really craving fresh tasting things like FRUITS and veggies etc.

Ahh yeah I forgot about passover, that's good that you were already bringing food with you...I hated being without something to eat then all of a sudden having to rush and find food.

Please don't. Not about either of those two things.

I would really prefer to have a natural childbirth with a Mid-wife in a birthing center unless there is a medical reason why I can not. I think a doula is extremely helpful for a natural childbirth, as is a midwife. My mom had us at a hospital, but had my siblings without any medication, my brother came super fast!

I have aversions to specific things. I love the idea of fruits and vegetables but a lot of them don't like staying down right now, other than potatoes. After puking up bananas a few times I lost my interest in them. I'm hoping that eventually I can eat more fruits and vegetables again.

No, I'm always thinking about having snacks with me lol It's just hard during Passover because it is Passover and sadly I ate all the apples already. >>;; I'm tempted by the strawberries but they're not organic ;;_;;

Green tea should be all right, shouldn't it? :)

And names-wise, Anne/Anna's a good one ;) I'm also very fond of Rebecca lately, but that's because I've been listening to way too many old Polish-Jewish tangos.

They say no caffeine and green tea has caffeine in it. But once I'm out of trimester 1, I might make super weak tea on occasional and try some of my decaf teas. I just feel so sad because I just spent a fortune on tea at Lupicia lol

I don't like Anne and it is my Aunt's middle name so it is out. I'm rather fond of Anya myself. Thankfully, "R" is not one of my letters and even if it was I can't use Rebecca since it is my sister's name. I won't use any name being used by one of my living relatives ^^;

I didn't dare comment on your previous post in case you were going to say it was a joke afterwards, since I wasn't sure when you were going to tell. ^_^ I guess I won't have a problem remembering your baby's birthday, it's so close to mine!

I obviously have no pregnancy stories of my own to tell you, but my mother tells me that of her three kids, mine was the longest labour (at 2 hours) and my brothers were about an hour each, all very easy. For one of the boys, she actually had her first contraction while playing a game of darts, so she finished the game before going to hospital. The friend she was playing against has never quite forgiven my mum for beating her at darts while in labour. (And yes, this is all true.)
