Going back to Ohio!
Mar. 16th, 2010 02:16 pmI'm still feeling under the weather, but no where near as bad as last week which is quite a huge improvement in and of itself.
The Oberlin CS department is having a 25th reunion this Spring and after much dickering, hubby and I have decided to go. I'm quite pleased since the reunion is actually not during commencement week end, which means Oberlin will be full of students and not alums and parents of soon to be graduates. The big plus of this is, students don't go out to eat that often. lol (Alums and parents tend to not necessarily want to eat Campus Dinning Service, particularly when nice sit down restaurants are the same price, so the good places in Oberlin get very long lines fast, but with only students there....) Continental has become partners with United so I need to figure out what that means for us. Cause we might be flying and if we are flying I want to know if I get a free check in or not. For the reunion last commencement, I discovered the Feve no longer had cheesecake, which is what we all use to go there for lol But does have yummy sandwiches. There is a Fresh-Mex place in town, better than anyplace around here and another nice to get food. And finally there is my beloved Black River Cafe. Plus since it is not commencement week end our choices aren't stay in a dorm room or commute 15-20 minutes from a hotel room, we can get a REAL hotel room at the Oberlin Inn. It's a cute small hotel right in town (it's reserved for all 50+ reunion alum commencement) and it has non-twin beds! ♥ I am much happier with non-twin beds (and internet and a parking lot) and supposedly we get to enjoy Oberlin's athletic facilities so if I can find my other swimsuit I can try out the pool.
The negative of course is probably a few days after I return I am leaving for Japan and of course we still need to move out and find and an apartment and the whole closing thing, but I think the positives far outweigh any negatives. I feel so excited!

Date: 2010-03-16 09:41 pm (UTC)And yes, a mini vacation! I'm hoping to sneak in as many as those as I can before October. So far we are definitely going to CA for Labor Day for my brother's wedding.
Luckily, I have a lot of potential apartments we can rent while we househunt. It's more feeling good enough to finally drive out to look at them. I might see if I can get my husband to join me one week end.
I'd love to see you at some point and hope you are well too!
BTW you'll have to let me know if there are any LEs you want me to get you next trip to Japan. I bet Lupicia does something for Children's Day.
