One of my expensive new prototypes smells lovely in the bottle but rancid on me to me before devolving into some sort of sweet marshmallowy and play dough scent that makes me want to cry. I feel so dumb since I paid an insane amount for it and I so do not like it. I'm hoping I found someone to trade it with. At least Comforting Plush Companion is comforting! I need to start putting my thoughts here on LJ for scents so I can better keep track of things. Some scents sound great in theory but somehow on me the theory falls through.

I just got a Netflix account so any recommendations on movies available on Netflix that I might enjoy is welcomed. Right now I am trying to get "Trembling Before G-D" a movie about being gay and Orthodox.

I so need to figure out my Japan trip and start work on my new doujinshi but instead I am re-reading old chat logs. I can tell this means I am stressed. I'm hoping to walk to the mall later since I sort of want another sweater from Banana Republic before it vanishes. Its a really cute look and actually worked on my despite having boobs. They're even cute enough that they look like something you can imagine someone in Japan wearing lol

It doesn't help that the tea I tried this morning was not what I am looking for in tea.

I'm thinking of arriving in Tokyo around the 11th or maybe the 10th of February so that I am definitely there in time for my event. I'm worried about snow on my end I would then stay until close to the end of February and if the airfare is good I'd fly out from Osaka. I'm trying to figure out the sightseeing schedule. I will definitely be in Tokyo until the 15th, my event is the 14th, and the next week end since I am determined to go to my Basara event in Yokohama.

I'm hoping to do some sightseeing during the week of the 15th and visiting some onsen. I have a good friend from the UK who will also be visiting Japan then, and I am trying to convince her to go Hakone with me and I am also trying to talk a friend here into going lol

Aw, sorry to hear about your tea and perfume disappointments. :( Hopefully you can trade or sell the prototype to make up for your losses?

Hopefully, I think I got a trade to get some AL and some St. Lucia. I really like AL and have wanted to try St. Lucia since it's supposed to smell like baked cinnamon goods (assuming it does not smell like CINNAMON on me)

Sorry that your recent perfume & tea 'trials' didn't work out. I drink tons of tea (mostly green) -- if there's ever something you don't like - let me know & perhaps we could trade.

I don't think I have anything to trade perfume-wise anymore. Due to financial constraints - I'm going to have to totally cut down on my BPAL & Blooddrop purchases. I still have to go thru my last batch of BPAL samples/imps & see what I have.

It's OK, I switched to a different tea, it just started the day off sad rather than cheery. I've been trying to mix it up and do green and various other types of tea sometimes to get through all the tea I have in my house. Tea is very popular to send along with BPAL.

I think I have a trade, I'm waiting to hear back and I would even be getting two things I want!

BTW if there is every something I have that I am keeping, I'm also happy to frimp you things as well. That's what friends are for. I do much better when people tell me what they want to try simply because perfume really does vary per person! I've been loving Arcana lately. I bought a bunch of the their single notes and they worked quite nicely for me.

I need to order the El Dia Christmas scent and make a bpal sales post since my PayPal is emptier than I would like. lol *hugs*

BTW let me know if I can get you anything from Japan, like if you've too been lusting for weird flavors of LE KitKats God never intended.

I've picked up a few bottles lately that I thought I would love (the notes were all right), but they didn't work out for me at all. Need to put up a sales/swap post, but since we're going out of town soon, I'm holding off until we get back.

Really interested to see what the new update will bring. Although I'm getting to where I have plenty of bottles, though.

Yeah... It's like I thought I would love BTCS, PEX54, Possessed Doll, so many things... Like Holiday Moon. I tested it after I took out that decant for you with the bit leftover on the pipette and it was awful! It had that super sickly sweet scent some scents get which just nauseates me. ;;_;; Luckily, PEX54 was just a tester and I think I have a swap for BTCS and I think I might have found a potential person to try to swap Possessed Doll with. I have two bottles of Possessed because it sounded so good and I did not trust my SiL to follow through. I also discovered BPAL T-shirts run a couple sizes larger than Threadless T-Shirts >>;

Yeah last year I loved Box of Chocolates and I tend to like the shungas. I have plenty of bottles and imps, but it's lovely to be able to swap off and change things up.

I can't imagine spending a lot for perfumes based only on descriptions, but I am also really picky. and yeah, that is a big issue - some smell nice but don't wear well. But I understand that BPAL is sort of a cult. XD

How is the lip stuff? It's locally made and has honey in it and is supposed to be really really good for your lips. It's not as fun as LipSmackers but might moisturize better. And heeeeeee I am so so so so glad it made it to you, I was so anxious. The soap is almond and I remember you saying you love almond and that is a nut you can eat. I hope you love the coffee!! I wanted to get you something special for your birthday/the holidays. *hugs* I was going to get you some chocolate almonds that looked super yummy, but then though you are trying to lose weight and so that is not such a nice gift vs. flavored coffee!

It's really hard buying things as sometimes there is even no notes! (with protos there is often just people's impression who have attended the event and that is it.) Some of the ones I've tried have been just lovely, but BTCS everyone kept saying was like butterscotch and chocolate and on me it was so not. ;;_;; I'm hoping to swap it for some things I like. I should stress that a lot on BPAL is not quite as expensive (usually) as a lot on other perfumes. I spent about $50 on the bottle. *hides head in shame* BPAL is totally a cult, it has a scary fandom BUT it's also really nice because a lot of people are super generous and frimp all sorts of things. It's one reason I bought all those teas with you in October, so I would have things to frimp when I sell.

I envy that you can stay so long! I have a few days in between shows that I'm devoting to sight-seeing, one or two of them with a friend from Malaysia. Probably the 9th, 11th and 12th. I'll have mornings/evenings free on the 13th/14th too -- just have the shows at 4 PM in Yokohama (and I have a show in the 10th, but I'll be darned if I can figure out what time it is -- eplus, the Web site, the seiyuu's blog, none of them say! I may have to wait to plan that day for when my friend gets my ticket.

I was actually thinking of you & Emi the other day when I was at the Japanese market. I was there to stock up on green tea & I always peruse the aisles. I usually pick up hubby some Pocky depending on what flavors they have. I was in the candy aisle & chuckled as I saw some Japanese branded 'regular' Kit Kat. Then next to that I saw some 'other' Kit Kat. I have no idea what flavor it was -- as I don't read any Japanese. However, the teeny tiny picture looked like something savory -- a croquette stuffed with ??? I believe it may have been a flavor never intended for 'real' consumption.

However, at Beard Papa (2 doors down) -- was happy to see one of the cream puff flavor of the days was green tea. I'll only buy the cream puffs filled if the flavors are green tea or coffee. Any other flavors & i just ask for the cream puff 'empty/plain' (and then get the strangest looks)

Pocky just doesn't get the LEs that KitKats do since Pocky flavors seem to last longer. Now sodas.... I'm hoping Pepsi has something good in February.

Despite all my trips to Japan and the fact there is even a Beard Papa in NYC I've actually never had one of their cream puffs before. lol Though I once made cream puffs from scratch

It'll be about 2 weeks or so, when all is said and done, maybe a little more so I can get in one more week end. The 14th is my event so I'm not available until after 5. Maybe we could all meet for dinner? I need to relook at dates. I also want to see the new YuGiOh movie and I want to see if my friend in Tokyo can get me advanced tickets so I can get the promo gift. So wait when are you in Tokyo from and and where else are you going and when?

Hmmmm want to tentatively plan for dinner on 2/14? What time does your show end? I've no idea how seiyuu events work. If not depending on when I get in we could do lunch on the 13th prob, I need to get my circle info from my friend and of course I want to see her too! Can you do Mt. Takao in February? Tachikawa has one of my favorite restaurants and I think that is not so far away from Takao.

Are you going to Hikone-jo? It's very pretty and in January there were some late type cherry I think.

I definitely want to be in Japan by the 12th so that I have some leeway in case of bad weather here.

It remains to be seen how navigable Mt. Takao is in February. It would certainly be easier on me temperature-wise. I'm tired of climbing hills/volcanos in 35-40 degree Celsius weather.

The shows will probably last around 2 hours, and it would take me 30 minutes or so to get back from Yokohama, so I wouldn't count on dinner before 7 either night. Though that's fine by me, personally. An early lunch on the 13th could be fine too -- just want to be sure to get down to Yokohama by 2:30 or 3:00 for shopping goods before the show.

And yep, I plan on getting to Hikone-jo.

Have you been before? I really enjoyed my visit there, though it took longer to get to than I expected since the fastest way is to shink to Maibara and then go 1 stop.

Yeah... It's not so fun when it gets too warm lol But really cold can also be a bit unpleasant. I spent a lot of time when I was in Tohoku freezing lol I am so bringing gloves! I admit, I'm glad Tokyo seems warmer than usual this year, at least to me.

We could do dinner around 7:30, let me find my guidebook of yummy places and I can throw some out to you, I just want to make sure this is all good with my friend going to my event with me. But yeah I would think dinner on either night would be good, my friend from the UK I think arrives the 12th or 13 so will be pretty tired and my friends in Tokyo are always up for meeting new people. :)

Is there anything you don't eat? Just to warn you now I am a vegetarian and I don't go on vacation from it so I tend to like to eat in actual restaurants. ^^; Right now my favorite place in Tokyo is Eat More Greens (http://eatmoregreens.jp/). The food and prices are pretty good. I am slso fond of a place in Kichijoji and a place in Tachikawa.

I eat pretty much anything and everything except, well, tofu and natto. I've given tofu every chance to prove tasty, and other than fried, it's failed. And natto ... I don't mind the taste, but cannot handle the smell one iota.

I.. love tofu lol I think it does depend on how it is made though. I've had some amazing tofu and some awful gross tofu. I only tried something with natto in it once (I think sushi rolls) and I... thought it was way too sweet. I was expecting something much more savory so it did not work for me at all.

The lip stuff is great... it is like Burt's Bees but doesn't have that peculiar taste to it. it feels really great on! and yeah... I love the cheapy stuff but it's just for fun, it doesn't actually protect well and it's been so cold that my lips are constantly dry, and I am not sure if constantly reapplying sparkly gloss is helpful XD Thank you!! I put it in my bag so I can use it all day.

I do love almond ♥ it's one of my favourite scents as well as yummy to eat! I usually have almonds (and berries) for breakfast every morning :) once I find a holder for it I'll give the soap a try. since I live in the guesthouse, I don't have my own bathroom or space in the shared bathroom to keep my stuff in there, so I have to figure out some sort of contraption that will keep soap goo from getting everywhere XD

and yes. I am trying to lose weight and two friends already brought me chocolates ^^;; one is actually marzipan - my favourite sweet! deadly!!! so flavoured coffee is way better XD

$50 is pretty expensive, at least to my mind! I mean, I like Calvin Klein perfumes for whatever reason, and they cost less than that.

...is frimping an English word or is it something exclusive to the BPAL cult?? I have not heard it before, lol.

Oh good, I was hoping it would be great, the person selling it claimed it was, but my lips have actually not been so bad this year. It might help that I am spending a lot of time indoors, of course I should be doing more outside lol

I love marzipan, there are these amazing chocolate and marzipan bars I love from the UK... >>;; But yes, I figured you would appreciate flavored coffee more. Personally, I tend to drink tea at home and only coffee out, though who knows maybe in the future I will get back into coffee.

D'OH I forgot that! I will look into whether there are any nice soap dishes at the soap shops and try to get you something for February.

Ooops sorry, frimp ==free imp (as in little vial of perfume) so people call it frimping. It's quite nice because sometimes you can find your dream scent from a freebie or get a chance to try something and find out you don't like it. lol It is SUCH a cult, possibly even more than the dolls.

Yes! That's the one I saw in the grocery store! How interesting ... it's a 'sweet' flavor.

I'm currently merrily playing Cooking Mama 3: Shop & Chop. Got it as a Xmas gift & am like 2/3 finished with it. The cooking part isn't too hard; since I'm not really a gamer, I'm having problems with the shopping parts.

However, one of the things to 'make' in the game is Dora Yaki. I never knew what those things were called. Whenever I go to Little Tokyo (haven't been there in ages) -- I usually always get one to munch on. However, they are only meant to be eaten fresh. I tried buying an extra one once for 'the next day'. Bad idea.

Oh and I finally got around to eating the black/white cookie I got at that one deli. It was one of the huge ones. I've decided I only like the mini ones because I like eating the chocolate & vanilla frosting together. It was a big lemon-like cookie. However, I pawned off 1/2 the cookie to hubby because I thought the vanilla was way too sweet.

Yes, and the person reviewing says it is even supposed to be good. I've not tried it personally though. I can tell you that ramune and ginger ale were awful!

....I only own a PS1 >>;;; I sometimes sort of wish I had a Nintendo DS to play Phoenix Wright since I hear it is awesome and I sort of want a PS3 to play Sengoku Basara.

Yeah a lot of Japanese cuisine seems to be things you're not supposed to eat as leftovers. I think that is one reason their fridges tend to be dorm sized and most wives food shop every day.

The flavoring of the frosting can really vary, some are sweeter than others. I tend to like to eat one half, usually white first and save the dark since it is my favorite for the end lol And yes it's a very lemony cake-like cookie. I think that is the other reason I like it. I love lemon and lime. And lemon and lime +chocolate is that much better. The bakery near me once had some sort of dark chocolate lemon tartlets and they were so amazing but I only saw them the one time and it makes me sad.
