Ah Slavemas!

I managed to get out a bunch of my holiday cards so ummm lots of people will be getting late ones and a few more people will be getting even later ones since I want to include a small gift and I didn't have time to get one together before. ^^; The in-laws and hubby have vanished up to Boston to do Christmas together and I decided I would rather be here where I can listen to loud bad pop and bond with the cats. I also wanted to see my sister and her girlfriend who are in from CA.

I'm a little down because I'm not getting done all the things I should and because visits from my in-laws always leave me feeling down on my self. Blah.

I'm making pecan pies for the homeless because even when feeling down, I know how lucky I truly am. Now to get myself in gear and start planning on my next trip to Japan, working on my doujinshi and finally building my website properly.

*hugs* Yes, I understand about the in-laws. At least yours live far away. Mine live a bit too close - though we try to avoid seeing them often.

Even though they're Jewish - I've always found it weird that we almost always have Xmas morning brunch with them. 'Tis to be the baking season as well - I am still baking tonight -- chocolate madeleines and now snickerdoodles. Gifts for tomorrow.

I don't think I could live close to my in-laws. >>;; I guess I should be happy my husband likes my parents so much.

I think it's Jewish people finding something to do? As a kid we use to uhhh watch tv and go to the movies and get Chinese >>;; Now we often visit my parents for brunch since we don't live at home anymore.

What always weirds me out is Jewish people who have Christmas trees and exchange gifts. It's one thing if they're interfaith, it's another when both are Jewish.

Sigh ... that's *exactly* what we do at brunch. Exchange gifts. My husband & I are the interfaith ones. And I, as the gentile, am the one that finds that odd/weird. I don't think my in laws have ever had a Christmas tree (at least not in the 16 years that I've known them) -- I call them typical Valley (as in San Fernando Valley) Jews -- they're Jewish when they 'feel' like it & it's convenient.

See to me that is weird. Unless maybe they are doing it as some sort of nod for you since they want to show they like you.. or something I don't know it's weird to me lol We don't exchange gifts on Christmas unless it also happens to be Channukah.
