Basil is going into the vet to have radioactive iodine treatment. We decided that overall that was a better choice than having him on medication for the rest of his kitty life since if it works, he won't need medication and can just be his usual cat self. But I'm worried because he is going to be gone from us for a week and then for 2 weeks we are supposed to be keeping him 3 feet from us because of possible radioactivity. But I'm worried because he's never been on his own in a little cage for a week before. And poor Cookie hasn't been alone for a long time either. And we're going out to CA for a wedding on Wednesday, a wedding I would prefer not to be going to, because while I like my sister in law, I can't stand the guy she has chosen to marry. He's never been anything but rude to me and the excuses my sister in law make for him don't wash.

Date: 2009-06-08 03:23 pm (UTC)Thanks.. I think I am going to need it since patience is a virtue I generally lack.

Does Basil have an over reactive thyroid problem?
Date: 2009-06-08 05:36 pm (UTC)Afterwards I had to have thyroid medicine for the rest of my life.

Date: 2009-06-08 05:42 pm (UTC)My SiL also had an overactive thyroid and she had a radioactive iodine treatment. I can't remember if she needed medication.
I think the hardest part is just not having him around and the 2 weeks we will not be allowed to let him snuggle us much.

Date: 2009-06-08 05:58 pm (UTC)Afterwards my scent must have changed cause the dogs didn't want to be near me in the beginning. They wouldn't lick, sniff me or jump on me.
Best wishes to Basil for a speedy recovery.
