rkoldFirst, thanks to everyone who took the time to vote in my poll. I appreciate it.
So after hearing mostly positive reports from the in-laws on my grandmother-in-law today it was return to the negative and discussion on my husband going out there. First, she's been in the hospital 1 week but is still considered unstable. Maybe I spent too long watching bad medical dramas, but that does not sound very promising! Particularly, when it's been a week. Her kidneys are showing signs of damage, she's still very weak and has a hard time moving and no appetite. The prognosis sounds grim to me, but none of the doctors want to commit to anything. She is 95, but I think it will be hard on my in-laws. They have a very small family (both my in-laws are only children and by the time my sister-in-law was born when my husband was 2, 3 of his 4 biological grandparents were dead in comparison to me, where my first grandparent died when I was 14.) To make matters worse, one of my in law's dogs is also in bad shape. Though I am a bit confused how the dog can be 15 when I could have sworn I helped them adopt her in 1995. ^_^;;;
It's really hard losing a pet they really are a part of the family and are always there for you. I was really worried when Cookie was not eating well since she was born in 1994. This particular dog was a poodle I helped my in-laws rescue when her owners realized 3 dogs were too much work.
*sighs*
and I'm still behind on working on my doujinshi since I keep procrastinating and wangsting.

That's what I would ideally like to do in our backyard, but since I've tried growing herbs twice & totally killing them ... I'm a bit apprehensive in trying to grow & most importantly TAKE CARE OF my own garden/veggies. So far, I do not seem to have a green thumb.

Date: 2009-02-27 02:12 pm (UTC)He left yesterday morning which I think was for the best, it's just hard because this is a less than ideal time. I'm not sure when he is coming back since he didn't get a return ticket in case something happens.
The secret to growing things is getting really really good soil. I use to kill a lot more before I discovered that little secret. Most soil around a house is pretty bad for veggies they need more nutrients than say azaleas. So we bought a ton of compost and peat and some vermiculite and mixed them together to create new soil which we are keeping healthy through crop rotation and planting legumes. (I should mention now I like legumes to eat as well XD; ) We tried to do a cover cop but it didn't quite work out. Next year!

Date: 2009-02-27 02:15 pm (UTC)No, it's OK, but thank you for offering. :) Mostly I am just really stressed out because I like feeling like everything is organized and now it is not. And the fact I have been procrastinating on my doujinshi doesn't help either.

My husband went out there yesterday which I hope helps some.
