The smell of tomato plants
Jul. 2nd, 2008 02:11 pmSo this morning when Firefox was working I did something very bad and spent a fortune on Y!J >>;;; One of the huge SuzaLulu circles put out in Osaka a GinoSuza book and the horrible person in me needed it. Judging from the prices it is going for consistently it sold out super fast and is quite good.
Yesterday was a lesson in frustration. First a bunch of my computer programs starting randomly crashing. Firefox would just keep going down and so would Quick Silver and so would Sizzling Keys. All 3 being programs I use rather constantly. So I upgraded to 3.0 upgraded Quick Silver and finally moved to 4.11 OS and for now everything is up. *crosses fingers* I also had an unfun time with JNTO (Japan National Tourist Organization). I'd like for them to send me some free handouts for my little talk. Now, I will be honest, in Japan, I don't really expect the staff to know a lot of English since it is Japan. However, I would hope they could hire people who are fluent in English to work in the US since you sort of need English to just get through life. ~.~ The conversation went something like:
Me: Yes, I'm giving a talk at a doll convention about going to Japan.
JNTO person: Dolls?
Me: Yes, it's a niche market collectible type of doll made in Kyoto.
JNTTO person: Dolls?
Me: Yes, dolls.
JNTO person: Are you a travel agent?
Me: No. I just tend to go to Japan a lot. I'm a regular person.
JNTO person: We can not just give you anything we need your informations!
Me: OK, so what information do you need?
JNTO person: No, we need your informations!
Me: OK I understand that but what information?
JNTO person: We need your name and the name of the convention and what you're talking about.
Me: Ok my name is Rachel --
JNTO person: No, we need your informations!
Me: Right it's..
JNTO person: No, you must email informations.
*sighs*

Date: 2008-07-02 06:56 pm (UTC)Guh. Well, maybe leave the stuff about the talk out, or at least the doll part? >>; When you send them your info, I guess just be as clear and concise as possible. But you would think someone working over here would have better English! ._.;
