For those who don't know, I positively love radio station countdowns and it was with great delight I discovered this afternoon Z100 was playing one rather than insipid Christmas music like I had feared. I still remember in the days before mp3s staying up nearly all night on New Years Eve to try and tape all the songs I loved on the WDRE/WLIR top 300 Alternative Rock/Modern Rock Songs of all time circa 1992/1993. I fell asleep for a mere hour or two, but managed to catch #1 Just Like Heaven by the Cure. Other memorable countdowns were a WPLJ one for the 80's with Centerfold oddly being #1 and a WLIR/WDRE top 100 Alternative/Modern Rock bands with Depeche Mode coming in as #1. When I found the countdown being rebroadcast as I baked dessert to be donated to the homeless today, I had to stop and listen. Many songs I adore got played, I got to find out that Over My Head is actually about two brothers, that Akon believes in bigamy, Khamillionaire was overjoyed when Weird Al parodied his song, and that Panic at the Disco got their name from Panic by the Smiths. But is is with great annoyance that I report that the #1 song what that horrible Shakirah song that every time a radio station plays I have to shut off the radio or risk smashing said radio. Ugh! WHY?!?! I think that is seriously one of my least favorite songs of the last 10 years, with only some of the Tenimyu songs I was forced to listen to at Animate last Christmas rating lower. ~.~ It's particularly depressing since #2 was Temperature a song that always amuses me, #3 was I Write Sins Not Tragedies and #4 was Sexy Back. BTW, what the hell, wasn't Dance Dance from 2005?!?!!?
I'm so looking forward to seeing
