So my husband tried the freezer method and it was no dice. So now I will be sending out the hard drive to a data recovery place on Wednesday. There are two places I am considering and I want to get the drive out as soon as possible. Fortunately, they only charge you if they are actually able to recover data. My husband thinks they probably can, but I am anxious and anxious about the price. For those wondering why I care so much, I am horrified about all the pictures I will lose. I've not backed up since the end of January and I've taken a lot of pictures since then, what with 3 trips to Japan and a trip to see my in-laws in UT. I also don't even know how many mp3s I will lose and tons of documents. Trying to remember everything and find it again is just going to suck. On that note, if I can't recover things, I am looking for through episode 6 of Les Miz subbed and I need Clamp in Wonderland 2 again. ;;_;;

Personally, I wouldn't spend that much, because I upload my photos to Flickr. It would be annoying to lose my e-mails and personal files, but it wouldn't be a disaster for me. 3 trips to Japan, though, that's bad. I hope they can do something!

I will be uploading all my pictures to FLCKR from now on, backing up my hard drive and uploading all my important documents to a locked directory in my webspace, but the problem is dealing with the mess now. ;;_;;

The first place gave me an estimate of $1700 which is WAY more than I am willing to spend. I'm going to try a place a friend of Marsh tried and was successful with. They're about half the price.
