I've often heard it said by various people I know that I'm not easy to embarrass. This is sadly not the case. I don't find taking a picture of Japanese school kids in their uniforms embarrassing, look in many Japan guidebooks and you'll see similar pictures. I don't feel embarrassed asking a doujinshika for a sketch, the worst they will say is no and most are flattered. I don't feel embarrassed speaking in horrible broken Japanese to people in Japan. At least I am trying and how else can one improve?

However, there are things that embarrass me horrifically.

Yes, Osaka is a tiny village with no building taller than 2 stories and surrounded by rice fields. People from Osaka have never heard of Pizza Hut, Dennys, or Starbucks and most certainly have never eaten in one of those before. Nothing in Japan tastes sweet and they all like simple things and eschew brand names.

*rolls eyes*

That was sarcasm for those who can't tell.

By the way since I feel cranky, anyone who has not commented on a single one of my LJ entries in the last 6 months is getting cut. You don't have to have commented a lot, just once is all it takes.

It makes me so sad that I think I used to know people who thought things like that. I am pleased to say that I don't think I do anymore. Outside of work anyway. ^^

Sorry to hear you're in a bad mood, no one should have to lose a sunday to being annoyed. *pets*

No, you just commented :P

Besides, you at least respond when I post in your blog. I've had a large number of semi-random people friend me and then not even respond to my comments. It makes me wonder why they friended me in the first place lol At least we've known each other for years.

BTW is your mailing addy still the same from when I sent that Herschners thing? I bought you something very tiny a while ago and I keep forgetting to mail it.

I think people from any country appriciate it when you try and speak the language. Far more embarrising for all involved is when people try to communicate by SPEAKING LOUDLY AND SLOWLY. Like my dad does.

I could die every time he does it. ;_;

*giggles* Dare I ask what you've been reading where Osaka is out in the middle of nowhere and has no Starbucks?

[livejournal.com profile] thundermew pointed me to a LJ entry of someone not on my flist and the comments people were leaving made me deeply ashamed to be American because they were so completely ignorant.

It's like the person I met on the plane flight to KIX who complained she didn't understand why Japanese taxi drivers insisted on being paid in yen and not US dollars. UGH!

I hopefully don't know anyone other than people I see on internet communities. It's just embarrassing when people are so ignorant of the world around them, particularly of a country they supposed have an interest in because of their hobbies.

Losing a Sunday is not such a huge deal and now if I could just get done more of my scanning and packing life would be all right.

Well the slow is good, sometimes it's hard to catch things when people talk too fast. I have a tendency to do that in English and sometimes people miss what I say lol

Since you don't also often post long rambling entries it's a little different. I generally let people who don't post at all slide for a while longer. >>;

Though it is nice to know that you're reading! ^_^
