It's been nearly a year since I started going to the gym. In that time period, I don't think I've lost weight, but I do think I am in better shape. Even nicer, I've gotten to do more reading. I've always loved to read but I am a horrible slow reader and over the last few years I'd been reading mostly fan-fic and not actual books.

So for 2007 I read for the first (or re-read since I'd not read in 15+ years):
The Nanny Diaries
Good Omens
The Golden Compass
The Subtle Knife
The Amber Spyglass
Fast Food Nation
Learning to Bow
The Tipping Point
Bait and Switched
The Devil Wears Prada
Around the World in 80 days (re-read)
The Bone Doll's Twin
Hidden Warrior
Oracle's Queen
Shelters of Stone

I am currently about half way through The Discontinuity of Small Things and Blink Oddly, I find Blink and Bait and Switched just not as entertaining as the previous books by their respective authors and they've been a real chore to get through. I'm also not so fond of The Discontinuity of Small Things. The writing style seems too pretentious to me, though the story it's trying to tell is interesting. I got tons of books as gifts for Channukah/My birthday including: The True Meaning of Smek Day, The United States of Arugula, Alice Waters and Chez Panisse and two books from my sister in law, The Pinhoe (latest Chrestomanci book) and His Majesty's Dragon. I also have Triangle, The Romance Reader, The Pact, Never Let Me Go, and A Gesture Life. I have some others that look good as well. ^_^;; I'm also sort of interested in reading/getting Thunderstruck now after finding out it's about Dr. Crippen and Marconi because I just know Captain Kendal will have to be in it!

Ooh, His Majesty's Dragon! I love the Temeraire books, even if they do give me inappropriately slashy thoughts since the whole series is basically one long romance between one man and his male dragon. (I'm not kidding.) I do hope you enjoy! ^_^

Hey, that's an awesome list! I think I do what you do - I go to the gym and ride the bikes so I can read a book~ XD It's a nice way to pass the time!

I started by riding the bikes at the gym but now I actually read while on the arc trainer! :D I can do it on the elliptical trainer as well, but I find it a little easier on the arc for some reason.

It is a wonderful way to pass your gym time, I just need to be sure not to pick a book that will make me get all weepy. It was horribly embarrassing to be crying when I got to the end of the Golden Compass. >>;

Ooh, nice! I haven't graduated to anything other than riding the bike and reading, but I should try!

Awwww~ ::pets:: Yeah, I suppose that would be a good stipulation to impose! Only happy books!

I find it works well. I think Learning to Bow and the Tipping Point were among my favorite gym books.

It's not so hard to do it on the arc trainer for me, but then I like to read and walk which is how I fell last year. >>;;;;;

It's the damn uneven sidewalks that get me good! lol

That and bad drivers! I almost got hit the other day by some driver not paying attention at a Stop sign. And I wasn't even reading! lol

Seriously! They should be even!

... Yes. D: Drivers are scary! You have to be extra-careful whenever around them!
