For those of you who don't know, I'm going to a wedding on Sunday, and I'm attempting to figure out what I ought to wear. (As I am *NOT* buying something just to wear for this wedding.) Since LJ people seem generally rather opinionated, I'm hoping at least some of you will share your opinions with me. ^o^

I have:

A pink floral print spaghetti strap dress (very summery) which I wore to a wedding in 2000 (the couple is still together.)
A black floral print tank dress with little jacket which I wore to a wedding in 1998 (couple is now divorced) and my Grandmother in-law's 85th birthday prty in 1998.)
A black floral print dress which I wore to celebrate my husband's conversion in 1997
A black stretchy velour dress which I wear to the Synagogue's Channukah party.
A black strapless dress which I wore to two weddings in 1998 (one couple divorced and one couple we lost contact with.)

I guess I could also dig around my parent's house and see if there is something else.....
I feel like I really shouldn't wear any of the dresses I wore to weddings that ended in divorce, but my husband says I am being silly, and what I wear doesn't make or break a marriage. I, of course, know he is right, but still...it seems a bad omen in my mind to wear something like that....I'm very tempted to wear the dress from '97, but I'm not sure if it's because it's the best choice or because I'm just pleased I *FIT* in it again. ^^;;;

We are expecting this wedding to actually take place, to be distinguished from the last one we were invited to...

Last night I did go see "Lost in Translation" aka "Why everyone should read a guidebook once in a while >.<"

I admit, I'm a bit nitpicky, all right I'm terribly nitpicky, and there were just a few times where the director picked to jumble together scenes on purpose for cinematic effect or because she wanted to see certain images, that as someone who has been to Japan, I found very jarring. The example that made me giggle, is when taking a cab, to try to get to their hotel in Shinjuku, Charlotte and Bob go past Tokyo Tower and then over Rainbow Bridge to Daiba. (And right as we're getting to the sign saying "Daiba" they cut away.) Unfortunately, Odaiba is in the EXACT oppopsite direction of Shinjuku, and unless they're just splurging on a cab trip through Tokyo it's completely ridiculous. Charlotte staring confused at a subway map, just seemed, well, if she *BOUGHT* a guidebook it might have helped a lot.... I'm also somewhat confused as to why she is taking the subway from Ometosando to Shibuya.... I mean really, she can just walk back to Harajuku and go directly there and the Yamanote line is sooooooo straightforward. Or Hell, the WALK isn't that bad between those two places....I also sort of want to know how she got to Ometosando station since she started in Shinjuku, why not take a Yamanote line train from Shinjuku to Shibuya. >.< And to be really really nitpicky, while Charlotte takes the shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto, and the view of Fuji-san was correct, the inside of the train looked wrong. ^^;;;; Maybe the views are just blending in my head, but the view from the other window I think doesn't happen until past Kyoto.... And damn her train is empty if she can move around that much!

I sort of feel like Charlotte and Bob would be lost anywhere they were, and Japan just happens to highlight this, perhaps this was the point of the movie... but it also makes Japan seem a strange and confusing land, a land of where scenery blends together and the language and culture seem a hazey confusion. And truly, it doesn't have to be quite that bad! If any of you ever see the movie, they show the HMV where I saw Suwabe during it. ^o^ But no Sunshine 60... ;;_;; And the end of the film, I'm really hoping it's on purpose or else Tokyo seriously needs to train its cab drivers better, cause at this rate I'll be back in Japan before they get to the airport!
