Much to be thankful for ^_^
Nov. 24th, 2006 05:27 pmFirst, thanks for the warm Thanksgiving wishes from everyone. Our Thanksgiving had its ups and downs like most. While I am incredibly pleased my sister is home, I'd forgotten she only eats organic. That isn't an issue for things like vegetables and dairy, but is a right royal pain when it comes to sugar, so I bought a mix to make cupcakes. Unfortunately, I did not read the box as carefully as I should have, and ended up with exploding cupcakes in my oven when I tried to fit the batter for 24 cupcakes into a 12 cupcake tin.
Other negatives, having to listen to the Jefferson Airplane and Janis Joplin, which seriously makes me wish for temporary hearing loss.
Positives of course far outweigh and I always feel so lucky this time of year to live near my family and to have family to spend the holiday with.
For those who don't know, not only am I a practicing Jew, but I'm a practicing vegetarian. I do not eat any animals (yup, no fish/seafood too) but do eat honey, eggs and dairy. Most of my family also has dietary restrictions with the upshot being, we have a poultry free Thanksgiving. My brother the semi-vegan made some sort of whitefish and my mother made salmon but that was the only meat. This of course makes people wonder what we do eat so behold, pictures:

Squash Lasgna, Meat from Wheat, another squash dish

mashed potatoes and yummy roasted cauliflower, rutabaga, and peppers

Yuuuummmm meat from wheat <3
Seitan is truly a vegetarian's friend, and in point of fact I often like the flavor better than real meat. The stuffing was delicious too! We also had cocnut cream pie and pecan pie, bought, for dessert and organic lemon cupcakes, (the exploding ones), vegan chocolate cake, and pumpkin cookies. (all of which I made) I would have made more dessert, but 1) too much dessert means too much dessert left over and 2) I was busy making food for the homeless as well.
My WyldeIvy order arrived today and other than that have not worked on my holiday shopping. Blah, I should work on it some this evening before everything sells out. ~.~ I also think one of my eBay bidders is not going to pay as their email bounced. >.< I so think on Monday I am going to be filing non-paying bidder disputes, cause I want all these things sold. Grrrrr
